Beware, Truevinreport and Topgearaus scam websites

After advertising a car for sale on Gumtree, I received four separate, very similar text messages from a scammer posing as different potential buyers. In each case, the text message requested me to provide them with a VI inspection report from these websites. After further corresponding by text, it soon became apparent that it was a scammer. Please steer clear of these websites.

Scam!!

Be aware. This is a scam. When you are selling a car, they will contact you to make an appointment. But first they want you to send them a car report, specifically from truevinreport, because 'they don't trust any other reports'. The report you will get is very expensive and exactly the same as one you can download for free from other websites, they have just changed the logos. And after that they will cancel any appointment you have with a lame excuse. The person pretending to want to buy your car is probably the same as the person behind 'truevinreport' and will just collect the money for a report you can also get for free.

Beware of scam

Scammers show interest in a car you are selling. Next they lead you to this site and urge you to buy a way to expensive report for them, stating they will off course pay back.
