Missed Port Claim Delay My Post Office Travel Insurance is through Collinson Insurance. I work 9-5 Monday to Friday, which is when their claims line is open. Subsequently, I have had to make my Miss... See more

Scum...hope they go bust and Vennells…
Scum...hope they go bust and Vennells and Bradshaw and others do jail time...scumbags. Justice for sub postmasters.
One star because I can't do none
One star because I can't do none. They repeatedly requested information I'd already sent, insisted on scanned documents not photos so had to get help, took over a month to get a phone call back. Said they couldnt read emails I was looking at perfectly well. When they did ring they were unprepared and unfamiliar with the claim. Then turned out I couldn't claim for a basic hotel despite being stranded in Paris overnight, READ THE SMALL PRINT DO NOT USE!
Poor service all round.
Received a note to say incorrect postage paid cost to me £2.50
Collected item it had 1st class stamp on it but not the most modern type, so the stamp had been paid for.
We have had at least 6 deliveries not delivered to our address, an international letter, supposedly tracked but processed incorrectly and not tracked. Talked to the lady on collection and she has worked for the PO for 25 years and now uses Evri for her parcels as she cannot trust the Royal Mail. Is this a one way service street ?
Collinsons/Post Office travel…
Collinsons run the Post Office travel insurance business. For anyone considering using the Post Office for this I suggest you DO NOT.
Collinsons are totally disorganised. I’m overseas now and am on my second claim. For the first one they said just go ahead and see a specialist without questioning. The second they required all kinds of ridiculous information most of which as irrelevant, a GP referral (GPS do not exist in the US) and then said it’s subject to underwriter approval. What if urgent treatment was needed? I asked why the difference in approach and the reply was “oh it depends on who you speak to”
What???!!
My quote from the PO was by far the cheapest. But remember, in this life you get what you pay for. Choosing the cheapest option for travel insurance may not always be the wisest move. This is an implant decision.
Caveat Emptor - buyers beware not recommended
My experience has been very negative. Their telephone customer service team treated me like I'm a fraud from the outset. Makes you feel really welcome !!!
They don't want to pay legitimate claims and make "your drama a crisis". So for a 150 pound legitimate claim they have lost a customer I would recommend you avoid them. Collinson's, their underwriters, were not at all friendly. Imagine how they will be for a significant claim. I recommend you avoid this insurance as I will going forward. There is no point paying for an insurance who don't want to pay legitimate claims. Terrible service complete waste of money
Terrible company
Terrible company. Avoid, avoid, avoid. So difficult trying to make a claim, keep asking for irrelevant and duplicated documents in the hope you will give up. Not what you expect from a household name who promises to deal with things quickly. Made a complaint to them too and was promised a reply within 5 days (still waiting 2 Months later).
Never EVER will use this Company again
Never EVER will use this travel insurance again. I missed a connection flight due to the inbound arriving late. Their cover doesn't include this as a reason!. I have been waiting 2 months to be told this after I had to ring the airline for them!.... really?, you cannot reimburse me £100?. Lesson learned, avoid like the plague 🤦
Totally inept service
I have wasted a considerable amount of time and money on this completely inadequate and inept service. My AirPods were left on my flight home from my holiday in Madeira. When I discovered this loss, I contacted TUI, the flight operators; they informed me that my AirPods had remained on the aircraft, but the aircraft had then been flown to Bodrum. I got in touch with the Lost and Found department at Bodrum Airport – they located the AirPods, handed them to a flight attendant on a TUI flight to Birmingham, and then emailed me the receipt handed to them by TUI.
TUI denied all knowledge of having received the AirPods, as did the less-than-useless Lost and Found Department at Birmingham Airport. Eventually, having made numerous calls to both organisations, TUI suggested that the best course of action was to claim for my loss through my travel insurance.
I took out travel insurance from the Post Office – I contacted them on 10th August to make the claim. On 12th August they acknowledged my claim, apologising for taking so long and assuring me that they would start processing the claim as soon as possible. On August 22nd, I sent them an email requesting an update, and they responded the following day to confirm that they were sorry for the delay and would get back to me as soon as possible, and my email would be added to my case file. On 11th September I sent the Post Office another email for an update; on 12th September the inevitable ‘thank you for your email, we have added this to your file and will get back to you’ response was received. On 14th September another email arrived, apparently, they are still assessing this claim and they will get back to me as soon as possible. On 30th September I sent another email and they stopped responding altogether. Their telephone number gives you the option of choosing an existing claim or a new one – I chose the option for ‘existing claim’, and the phone rings a couple of times, before switching to a ‘busy’ signal.
In all honesty the strategy of this shoddy organisation would seem to be to delay and hamper the process so much that their claimants give up. I will definitely be giving up on the Post Office the
Next time I need travel insurance and I would suggest that anyone else with plans to travel does the same.
Avoid like the plague as they simply awful to deal with
The Post Office Travel Insurance, or Collinson Insurance as they are better known, are awful to deal with and make everything as difficult as possible as they simply do not want to pay claims. Even calling them is only possible between 9am and 1.30pm Monday to Fridays meaning you have to be on hold for at least 20-25 mins each time. I am six weeks into an annual policy and tied to cancel policy but they do not allow cancelations. Most travel insurers normally charge an admin fee for you to exit policy but not Collinson Insurance who are a special type of awful. I made a mistake taking a policy with Collinson Insurance PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. THEY ARE THE WORSE INSURANCE COMPANY IN MY OPINION.
Absolutely terrible service
Absolutely terrible service. Lies, passed around never getting the same agent twice. Blaming me for filling the online form out incorrectly
Told one thing then the complete reverse. Had to send document after document and still not resolved. Not even a reply on my complaint. Supposed to be coming back to me today and pigs might fly.
Never ever use these for holiday insurance!!!!
They did actually reply and I believe they have settled the claim? We will see in 3 to 5 days??
Seems like a con
Seems like a con. After a 2 month delay in processing the claim they decided not to pay out and gave a ridiculous excuse for not paying out on a stolen item. Raised a complaint with them and was told I would hear back in 5 days. That was weeks ago. Very hard to get hold of anyone. PLEASE AVOID!!
If I could give 0 I would
If I could give 0 I would
Absolutely shocking!!!!!
Made a claim and 3 months in they are asking for receipts I already sent. Make you feel like a liar!!!!
Shocking
AVOID
Never ever use Post Office Travel Insurance
DO NOT USE POST OFFICE TRAVEL INSURANCE. They use a company called Collinson Insurance who are based in Haywards Heath to underwrite the policy and they will do anything to avoid making a payment. I have sent a separate review of Collinson so won't go into too much detail here. Suffice to say that the Post Office should never have entered into any agreement with Collinson and if they have any ethics left they should immediately end their contract with them. If you purchase a travel insurance policy with the Post Office they will wash their hands of any problems and even if you do manage to achieve any payment from Collinson it will take months.
Do not go near this 'insurance' with a barge pole!!
Dear God, how I wish I'd not bothered with this company (Collinson Insurance underwrite the Post Office Travel Insurance). It is a complete and utter joke.
Apart from the debacle with cover and claims (which is a whole other story), accessing their claims portal is a nightmare.
I tried logging in with what I believe to be my password and the system says no. I click the link to reset my password and await the reset email.
The reset email arrives and tells me to click the link. Which I do. It takes me to a page titled "Log in to Support Portal" with a green banner spouting "You must be logged in to access this page."
You've got to be kidding me?!! How is that supposed to help me?!!
Disgraceful
Due to fly on 5th August on an annual policy. I had a stroke on 4th August meaning I could not fly. I produced a Consultant letter from hospital, a signed letter (supplied by Post Office Insurance) from my GP, no show emails from TUI and extra documents to support this claim. 8 weeks later I still have not had my claim settled. I have emailed again all requested documentation. Speaking to someone just results in them fobbing me off saying paperwork not received. If all paperwork was emailed at the same time, how do they have parts of it and not others? Main concern is both mine and my husbands details are on these documents! Absolute shambles of a Company I will never ever use them again. Diabolical.
DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE TRAVEL…
DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE TRAVEL INSURANCE - my wife got diagnosed with aggressive cancer last March and had to have chemo treatment asap, we were advise strongly by our consultant to cancel our holiday to Canada which was planned for July and claim it back from the insurance company. after so many forms and questionnaires back and forth and even after telling them my dear wife has now passed away they are still sending me questionnaires and still haven't paid out 7 months after putting in the claim they keep saying they are sorry but they are in undaunted with claims and still haven't looked at our claim so they couldn't give me a status report on it - i said it is simple and clear cut claim ? oh yes they are apologetic every time !!! i am now getting a solicitor to sort it out i have have enough they are quick to take my money but the customer service we are getting in return is a total JOKE !! POST OFICE TRAVEL INSURANCE IS A JOKE !!!
Please avoid using the post office…
Please avoid using the post office travel insurance as they appear to cover nothing as they don't want to pay out.
They have Confirmed that they do not pay for missed flights. Had issues with car park, couldn't park my car, by the time everything was sorted, we missed our flight.
Paid for new flight, hotel etc. And they are not willing to repay anything, why bother having travel insurance.
Appalling service from a once trusted…
Appalling service from a once trusted insurer. AVOID. A small claim following a bike accident in France has now entered month 3. They initially paid out within 48hrs... The problem being it was just a fraction of the claim with no explanation of how they arrived at the sum or why the majority was denied. It is clearly company policy to part-pay hoping it's enough to avoid full, and legitimate, claims to be paid out as they now refuse to engage in any dialogue despite repeated contact. As per other reviews, my emails "have been added to my claim" but there is no follow up. Post office travel insurance feels like a scam. Covid as an excuse is laughable. They refuse to respond to emails or supply details of their complaints procedure so will be referring to Financial Ombudsman Service.
Suppose to get an item from Adidas
Suppose to get an item from Adidas, first time they came as they say 20:09 which is later from what was said next day they said they re-deliver but got an email stating they couldn’t make it. I don’t believe they ever came as there’s two house mates at the house all the time. No star for me.
Avoid!
Had a ski accident on first day of holiday with PostOffice insurance including Winter Sports cover (PostOffice use Collinson Insurance Services as their supplier - so that is who you will really be dealing with).
Claims process took 6 months of weekly nagging and getting no feedback. Staff are nice when you speak to them - but things never get resolved.
Collinsons paid a fraction of the claim (total claim was for ~£4400, they settled £1164) ignoring their own contract.
For instance, Winter Sports cover includes lift-pass and ski hire - they ignored this.
It also covers holidays cut-off early, they also ignored.
Now spent a month trying to get the rest!
Is this a deliberate strategy? But looking at other reviews its certainly not an isolated incident.
If you have already taken out a policy - go through your contract carefully to ensure you get what you are entitled to. Otherwise, don't touch PostOffice!
