SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH BASIC UNITS

We bought 3 Trane systems for our home in 2018. Two of them were basic while one was a top-of-the-line variable speed unit. It's presently not working as we await its second coil replacement in 6 months @ $1,400 each repair. In hindsight, we should have purchased 3 basic units with fewer bells and whistles. The local company, however, is OUTSTANDING in their response to issues (i.e., Wards Air Conditioning). It's just the 5-ton Trane XV18 unit that continues to cost a lot of money years after its installation despite being checked/routinely serviced twice each year.

Unethical Practices and Substandard…

Unethical Practices and Substandard Service from a Trane-Affiliated Contractor

My interaction with a Trane-certified dealer was highly unsatisfactory. They employed aggressive sales tactics, mainly pushing a specific inventory of equipment without considering my requirements They installed it without even getting permits. Furthermore, they neglected to conduct essential, comprehensive maintenance on the entire system, a significant lapse in professionalism. They even misrepresented the refrigerant levels as adequate, despite not even verifying them. When I reached out to Trane customer support to lodge a complaint and seek assistance, their response was inadequate. Rather than backing their dealer and resolving the issue, they suggested I find another Trane-authorized service provider. Trane's lack of support and accountability has left me feeling let down as a customer. I believe Trane should be ashamed of how its certified dealers treat customers and the blatant disregard for ethical business conduct within their network.

Trane failed my family

As an active duty servicemember, I’ve lived in multiple homes and dealt with many major appliances. I’ve never had a worse experience than I’ve had with Trane.

The HVAC system in my home, just 6 years old, suffered a catastrophic failure. I later found out it would have been covered under a 10-year warranty… but only if the original homeowner registered it within 60 days of installation. I had no way of knowing whether that happened when I bought the house, and because it wasn’t registered, Trane refused to offer any meaningful support.

This is not a policy that protects customers, it’s a loophole designed to protect the company’s bottom line. It disproportionately hurts military families like mine who move often and have no control over what was or wasn’t done by the previous owner. I was never informed I had inherited an unregistered system with no support.

After over a month of delays and unhelpful communication from Trane’s customer relations team, I was finally offered a small “loyalty credit” - one that wouldn’t come close to covering the thousands in repairs, nor the hardship we endured living through peak summer temperatures without AC.

Trane likes to talk about reliability and quality. But when their system failed early and without warning, they offered neither. They do the bare minimum legally required and nothing more.

I’ll never buy another Trane product, and I strongly advise others - especially those in the military or who buy existing homes - to stay away. Choose a brand that actually stands behind its product, not one that hides behind fine print. Protect yourself and, more importantly, protect your family.

AVOID AT ALL COST!!

AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Their Warranty is bogus. I purchased my AC because of the 10yr part warranty. I have had my AC serviced twice a year since i have had it, changing my filter monthly, everything I am supposed to do. When my AC began to leak from the coils, they turnaround and inform me that it is not covered because the coils are dirty. I explained I have the AC serviced since I purchased it, no one ever mentioned the coils to me and I do not know every piece of an AC and what needs to be done, as a consumer I trust the companies and products I purchase and the consumer should be informed of what could potentially happen. Apparently one needs to be an expert on everything because it is all about the $$$$$$$. Now they want to charge me more than half of what I had paid for this unit. It is all a SCAM!!!

Don't buy a Trane heat pump!

Four years after paying $6307 for a Trane 3.5 ton 14 Seer single speed package heat pump system, the system stopped working. The evaporator coil failed. Although the coil itself was covered by warranty, the labor to replace the coil and resulting expense to replace the lost refrigerant and the refrigerant filter drier totalled $1994.41. This is totally unacceptable for a 4 year old heat pump. After seeing all the complaints about the coil I am terrified this will happen again in a few years. I'm going to review this everywhere I can to warn people not to buy a Trane!

Think twice before buying a Trane furnace. They ignore their customers.

I have had a Trane furnace XC95M for about 12 years.
It recently failed and the local technicians replaced the gas valve and a pressure switch. Evidently there was nothing wrong with the gas valve but they left the new one in to the 'tune' of $1000.
Apparently only Trane or Honeywell can properly test these valves. I have tried to contact both but never heard back from them. I consider Trane to be a totally irresponsible company who ignores the customer. I would say the same about Honeywell. Think twice before buying a Trane furnace.

Called Customer Service to get a copy…

Called Customer Service to get a copy of manual , or find one that is on the internet, of my TRANE AC—— just moved in to a Condo, and the instructions for the TRANE AC were not provided.

They were unable to assist me, asked for a Supervisor, waited 20 minutes, told them that they needed to have him/her call me back.

They said I needed to call local TRANE dealership to get this……

Would not recommend

Would not recommend. Stay away. Buy from somewhere else. For 4 years I had a bad RunTru system made by Trane. 4 years I worked w Trane and my home warranty company to try to fix a brand new unit. It never was working right costing me thousands in electric bills, service fees, labor, freon charges, etc. Finally after 4 years Trane said to contact the distributor. After arguing and providing all the receipts for service calls and work performed over 4 years they agreed to replace the whole system. The catch, no one will install it! Now they are trying to get me to pay thousands more to install a replacement system after already having the original system installed and tons of fees and high utility cost! Always screwing over tye customer and never taking responsibility for selling a bad product!
My take away from all of this and warning to others:
Do not buy Trane products! They do not honor warranty, equipment, or their 'certified techs!' They are not about quality and continue to try to screw over the consumer only caring about their profits not whats right and wrong! Stay away and buy a different brand! Nothing from Trane, Runtru, American Standard, or any equipment manufacturered by Trane or any Trane 'Brand' companies! Trane and their 'certified techs' are set up to rip the consumer off! They already have 1 class action law suite and are pushing towards another! Check their reviews from reputable sites like consumer affairs and BBB. HORRIBLE!!!

Ingrams will not help either! They argued with me from the beginning until I filed complaints with BBB, Consumer affairs, attorney General, news stations, etc. I will not stop! What your company, distributors, and techs are doing is wrong!

It’s not hard to stop a Trane

It’s hard to stop a Trane, but I did. Bought this house three years ago but the A/C wasn’t working. The owner put in a new Trane Run-true, which hasn’t lived up to its name yet. The unit is still under warranty and the parts are covered but the labor to replace/repair is by now almost the cost of a new unit that runs and doesn’t need repair on a quarterly basis. I always thought Trane was a top of the line system, but now I feel like this Trane isn’t going to leave the station and needs to be replaced.

Forces phone app so they can sell data? Who knows

I have had to replace my thermostat screen several times. Even though I have a warranty I have to pay because thermostat controllers aren't included or something, who knows, no idea . It happens in my home and in my business (temperature and humidity controlled products with no thermostat...great). Now they have put out models that REQUIRE 1. Internet access. 2. phone app connection (only reason to do that is to sell my information to a 3rd party under some contract you force me to sign that I have no control over - is that what you're doing?). What for? You dont need to be on my phone to read the temperature on the outdoor unit! And when I had to contact you separately to answer questions because my installer and the MEP firm I used failed to tell me what was going on with my humidity problem. Then someone mentioned a non-existent lawsuit and instead of talking to me (THE CUSTOMER) your rep said you couldn't talk to me. When this stuff of yours breaks I am going to a different manufacturer!

Installed my unit in July 2019

Installed my unit in July 2019. The circuit board went bad early April 2023. Our repair technician, when ordering the replacement part was told the part would not be available until July/August 2023 at the earliest. As a result, i am having a non-Trane unit installed. The system is still under warranty, so its very frustrating thst no parts are available.

Expensive HVAC system with no support

Had a technical question regarding my thermostat and connecting it to a Smart App. Not only were they not able to answer my question but they had no technical personnel that could. I will not make a major purchase like this if I can't get access to simple questions. When the survey app realized I rated them a "1", the app couldn't recognize my inputs, voice or digital. It appears the survey app will record only positive responses. Please make sure you do business with a company with resources that can provide support. It doesn't appear Trane has a support team in place. Lesson learned.
