The process was communicated very well. The cost was fair considering all the family history that was found. The contact person was sensitive to the nature of the reasoning for using this service.

Very interesting, all of the information you were able to find on the Pluma family plus help us solve who Federico's parents were. Very organized. Communication has been really good over the last year. The scans of documents is pretty astounding!

Just thrilled! Although the pandemic slowed everything down quite a bit, I was thrilled with the documents they discovered! Definitely couldn't have done it on my own!!

Helpful, attentive and descriptive, delivered everything promised and even extra documents we did not know about. Would recommend.

My request for genealogy research was handled in a professional manner.

I am extremely happy with the research through Trace.com. I was skeptical at first about whether it was going to be worth the expense of hiring an expert. The research is so very thorough. It is very evident to me that the expert knew where to look and how to draw appropriate conclusions. Based upon her research I was able to confirm my connection through DNA, which is really exciting. I will continue to use Trace.com!

Honestly it was a frustrating experience but I think allot of this was due to COVID. I explained to them to just share a but more to keep the customer happy. In the end the research was AMAZING they found stuff that I never ever heard of --relatives I did not know exists. 45 pages worth---well worth the $

They were able to find the information I was looking for. Some sources are not obvious or even available when a genealogy search extends overseas. They provided the key information needed.

The research took a lot longer than originally anticipated. This was largely due to covid delays. We honestly expected a bit more information (further back) for the price. However, work done was excellent.

This was the second time I've used Trace's services. Tammi did an excellent job in finding my Norwegian 2nd great grandfather's siblings, their birth and death info. I am often able to do extensive research on my own family tree just fine but with Norwegian records it's nearly impossible for me to with records not being in English and the constant name changes so it's very reassuring to know Trace is available to help and also be very affordable! I highly recommend their services!

We were excited yet hesitant to hire professional help to find some paternal relatives. trace was ultra professional, courteous, consistent in updating us with research progress.... we are VERY pleased to have them find numerous paternal relatives AND we had great luck in their being open to our contacting them.

My Great great grandmother was considered an orphan. I had a birth date and a birth place from her obituary, but everything we knew about her father was family legend. My Trace genealogist was able to use the little bit of information I was able to give her and bring my grandmother’s early history to life, from her parents marriage, her father’s occupations, where they lived, who he would have worked for, and his family background. For years I wondered how he could have given her up. Now I see an aging grieving widower, struggling to care for his toddler after the death of his young wife from smallpox while working a taxing job at the iron works. Thank you C. and the Trace team! I appreciated the frequent updates and the thorough report I received. I could have never done this on my own.

My initial phone call with Matt Bidstrup was great. He was clear & easy to understand, and asked the 'right' questions about my project. I look forward to working together, as this is my 3rd project with TRACE!

It took Trace several weeks to tell me that they MIGHT be able to help with my research goal. And if I wanted them to pursue the research, it would cost several thousand dollars, no guarantee of satisfactory results.
No thank you.

Matt is awesome. Great communicator, keeps you informed as the process moves along. I was happy with the results that were rendered.

On August 20, 2020, Trace prepared a proposal for me. The proposal was to “obtain notarized/apostilled copies of” three documents: (1) the birth record of [my great grandfather] (2) the marriage record of the same to my [great grandmother]; (3) the birth record of [my grandmother].
These were for me to apply for Hungarian citizenship, as noted in the proposal.
The 2nd and 3 documents were to be obtained first and the birth record to be looked for in a second assignment.
I submitted at the time of the proposal, an image of my grandmother’s birth certificate and the record from Saint-Michel-de-la-Pierre with my great grandmother’s birth certificate noting her marriage.
Trace returned to me an unapostilled or notarized version of my grandmother’s birth certificate (so a document that I sent to you in July of last year) as well as an unapostilled or notarized verion of the marriage certificate. You have also submitted a note that documents between the Czech Republic and France do not need to be notarized. For this, Trace have charged $150 in scoping and $440 to find the birth certificates.
(Not the mention the second project, for which I paid about $900 for searches for my great grandfather’s birth certificate; Trace’s researcher could not find it but I hired a Czech genealogist who located him almost immediately.)
I cannot get Trace to fulfill its contract. I have had to filed a BBB complaint. I have used Legacy Tree for other jobs (also during the pandemic) and recommend them highly.
UPDATED: I do not dispute that The Hague Convention is in effect. I dispute that you fulfilled the contract, which was to get apostilled/official versions of the documents. What I do with them, frankly, is not your business.
(I also do not dispute that your researcher spent the time in the Czech archives and that you fulfilled your contract on that project. I just note that I spent a $150 on a Czech researcher who was able to find the documents within two weeks, as opposed to your efforts, which cost $900 and took much longer.)
I appreciate your reply but stand by my review.

Although I have decided to put my research on hold for a few months due to Covid-19, the account representative was very good, answered questions and concerns and always kept me informed of where they were in the process of developing a plan. I do hope that when I can resume this plan, the researcher will be able to help me fill some gaps in my family tree.
