The two most expensive mistakes of my life: 1) joining Touchstone - £14,995 2) investing in two off plan investments via their sister company Redmayne Smith - circa £100,000 with other associated costs.
The Common denominators:
Paul Smith
Aniko Smith
Abi Hookway
Gordie Dutfield.
I am writing this as someone who is now facing the very real possibility of losing a significant portion of my life savings after being introduced to off-plan property investments through the ecosystem (sales funnel) surrounding Touchstone Education and Redmayne Smith.
The recent The Sunday Times article titled “Time to tackle online property gurus?” is not a general commentary on the industry — it is specifically about Touchstone and Redmayne Smith, and it highlights serious concerns regarding the promotion of off-plan property investments to students and the outcomes many are facing.
After watching the response video by Paul and Aniko, I was struck not by transparency, but by how the central issue was avoided.
The core concern — the sale of off-plan investments to students and the financial consequences — was not properly addressed. Instead, the response relied heavily on a headline statistic: 89 complaints out of 25,000 (0.35%).
In my opinion, this figure is highly misleading.
It is unclear what the 25,000 represents. If this number includes everyone captured in a marketing database — such as individuals who attended free webinars or introductory sessions — then it has no relevance to the actual risk faced by those who proceeded to invest.
More importantly, this statistic completely sidesteps the only question that matters:
👉 What proportion of people introduced to off-plan investments via Redmayne Smith have experienced financial loss or adverse outcomes?
Without that figure, the 0.35% statistic is, in my view, meaningless.
It is also important to recognise that formal complaints do not reflect the true scale of the issue. Many individuals do not submit official complaints despite experiencing serious financial consequences.
There are independent groups of affected individuals — referenced publicly — where a growing number of people are sharing similar experiences. The existence and growth of these groups alone raises serious doubts about how representative the 0.35% figure really is.
Equally concerning is how criticism appears to be handled.
Comments raising legitimate questions — including my own — were removed from YouTube under the official response video. This gives the impression that critical voices are being filtered out rather than addressed. Similar patterns have been observed in private communication channels, where individuals who question or challenge are excluded.
This creates, in my opinion, a controlled narrative where:
Risks are not fully acknowledged
Negative outcomes are not openly discussed
New participants are not exposed to balanced information
Finally, the repeated justification that Touchstone Education and Redmayne Smith are “separate entities” does not resolve the concern. When one appears to act as a direct pathway into the other, the distinction becomes largely theoretical from the perspective of a student or investor.
At a minimum, transparency would require:
Disclosure of how many off-plan investors have suffered losses
Clear data on how many refunds have been issued
A direct and honest response to the concerns raised in the media
Until those questions are answered clearly, I would strongly urge extreme caution to anyone considering engaging with these programmes or associated investment opportunities.
This review reflects my personal experience and observations.

I signed upto the 2 day webinar and then changed my mind as it is not for me this investment. I have emailed 3 consecutive 3 days asking to cancel the webinar and asking for a refund but no response from anyone. I want my money back £99. When is this going to be actioned? Why is there no conmication.

Terrible!!!! The 2 day course is a complete scam! All the content is
Pre recorded! When i asked my personal wealth expert via WhatsApp he told me that abi had an emergency appointment so they had to use pre recorded content ?????? Gordies training was also prerecorded! They asked the “audience” to send in homes for sale on rightmove in their local area Julie sent in her house that they crunched the numbers for, Julie’s house I searched for on right move myself and surprise surprise the house didn’t exist! The second half of day 1 a prerecorded video was accidentally played that was actually meant for day 2 and another surprise on the morning of day 2 I watched the same pre recorded video AGAIN! All whilst they were congratulating people for purchasing the 12 month 10k course …… they were not people on the course as it was pre recorded! Completely disappointed this is why these courses get a bad name it leaves you extremely dubious and suspicious. If the content is not delivered live and questions are left unanswered this should be declared prior to people spending money on it. It is not value for money it is a scam leave well alone!

Brilliant 2 day experience, a lot of information in 2 days but Abi, Gordie and the team did amazing job hosting this TE. Eye opening what you can achieve with the right tools, mindset and right direction by joining the WA family which will help us find that freedom!
