I used Tot Squad to schedule a nutrition consultation for a picky eater
I used Tot Squad to schedule a nutrition consultation for my picky 12-month-old baby. He never took to solids, and we just couldn't figure out a way to entice him. Even though he's our third child we were completely clueless because our other children loved solids and were great (baby) eaters! Leonila was our coach, and she was fabulous. She provided great suggestions, normalized our experiences, was not judgmental and never made me feel bad. She also followed up via email with a feeding resource that I printed out and put up on our fridge to support my baby's eating. I'm happy to say that my baby has improved in his eating, and so has my sanity! I would absolutely recommend Tot Squad, and Leonila for nutrition consults. I may try sleep consultations next!
Helpful, but overpriced
I have two very picky eaters at home, one aged 4 and the other aged 20 months. My toddler has recently started being pickier than usual so I decided to give tot squad a try. My nutritionist was very helpful, knowledgeable and her cheery demeanor helped bring my spirits up. She helped me believe that my boys would soon be eating better with time. Krystyn emailed me right after our consultation with some valuable information that we had spoken about and some additional links that I could find useful. I have not seen a difference in my kids’ eating habits yet, but I am hoping that will change soon. My least favorite part was how short the consultation was. If a parent is paying $50 a pop, I expect something a bit longer than 20 minutes. I do not think I would use this service again because of the briefness of the service and because most of these tips could be discussed with your child’s pediatrician if you are very worried or found online on sites like Pinterest.
Not Worth It
I want to be clear that the person I met with was knowledgable and friendly and did her best to be helpful. I think the service delivery model needs tweaking. For me, RD services are covered by insurance so to go $50 out of pocket there needs to be something exceptional. Since there is not a robust intake procedure it felt very surface level and introductory. For "standard" RD visit or feeding therapy you would fill out several pages of paperwork and meet for 30+ minutes. She did have some helpful suggestions and was able to speak to every issue that I brought up. She also promised to email me additional resources but I have not received these.
A personalized nutritionist for your kid
Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me an opportunity to try a nutritional coach from the Tot Squad for my almost 1 year old. Even as a second time mom my two boys are so different especially in how they eat. We were worried about food allergies and since I was unable to make my own baby food from scratch like I did for the first one; it was important to me that I make sure he gets exactly what he needs to grow healthy and with a strong immune system due to the pandemic. Scheduling a coach was easy enough although they did not have too many options. Once scheduled I received a few emails that were a bit confusing but nonetheless the virtual appointment was not difficult to access. My coach was very interested in hearing what my concerns and or focus for the appointment and I explained my reasons for using their services. The session is only 20 minutes long so it was very short and abbreviated given the amount of time you get within your appointment. She assured me that she would email me with all that was discussed and she did later that afternoon. I had a 9:20am time slot and she emailed me at about 1:15pm. She included links and pdf images to help support her recommendations. She was thorough in her email with details and even correcting some her over the phone advise. This bothered me because we specifically spoke about cows milk and she never mentioned that we should not start til after 1 years old. Only in her email did she stress the importance of waiting before introducing this to him and that was concerning considering how long after we received the email. Overall a great experience but not sure I would use again in the future. I would recommend to family with a child having feeding issues.
Helpful information
I found my visit with TotSquad helpful and it was a comfortable and relaxing setting being able to have the virtual call from home. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of scheduling my appointment and that I could pretty much pick any time of day to schedule it (even on weekends and evenings). I received the TotSquad session from the Stellar Panel and chose the allergy prevention topic as my oldest child does have food allergies. As a parent of a child with food allergies (and also a dietitian myself), I saw this visit as more of a review session for my youngest (who is just starting on solid foods) and wouldn't say that I necessarily learned any new tips. However, could see this as very helpful to first time parents. The coach I met with seemed to be knowledgable in the topic and also emailed references and handouts after the call, which was much appreciated. She also did touch on other topics and asked if I had any other questions regarding breastfeeding or introducing solids.
Amazing resource for moms of picky eaters!
I have a super picky eating 2-year-old, so I am so thankful for my consultation with Tot Squad! The experience was easy, friendly, and stress-free. And most importantly I have better peace of mind regarding his eating habits. It was definitely worth the price for the advice and to put my mind at ease.
Booking the call was easy, and I was able to get a time slot after my son was in bed, so that was a huge plus for me! Before the call I filled out a survey about my son's typical eating habits, and his height/weight/age info. When I joined the call, my coach had already reviewed the info so we could spend my appointment talking about the finer details.
It's hard to admit that you're struggling to a stranger, but my coach was super inviting and was a calming presence, which made the experience easier. She helped reassure me that my son is likely getting adequate intake, but gave me a lot of great tips about exposing him to new foods and taking charge of meal times.
It's been a few weeks since the call, and I'm happy to report that we've made progress! We're working on the "division of responsibility" and "food chaining" while exposing new foods....and we've witnessed a few bites of new foods already! Yay!
I'll definitely book another appointment if we regress or have additional food struggles. I really appreciated being able to speak with a professional who was able to dedicate a solid chunk of time to my needs. When I speak with my son's pediatrician about meals I always feed rushed -- this was the total opposite despite the fact that we had an allotted time frame. It really went well. The only downside is that I had to pay out of pocket vs using insurance, but it truly was worth it.
Telling all my friends!
Had a great experience, used Tot Squad to find a sleep consultant and loved being able to compare across different providers. Then used them again for a car seat installation service which gave me great peace of mind!
So helpful!
My favorite aspect of tot squad was how booking an appointment with coaches was so quick and easy! There were multiple dates and times that could easily work with anyone's busy schedule and booking took me less than 5 minutes to complete. My coach Ilona was prompt, kind and so so very helpful! During my session coach Ilona reviewed my concerns, answered all my questions, and gave me excellent tips on how to help my extremely picky 3 year old more motivated to eat different foods. I would definitely use Tot Squad again and highly recommend it to all parents.
Great advice for a picky eater!
I scheduled a half hour call with the Tot Squad to get some much needed advice for my toddler who has turned into a picky eater. I was concerned that he wasn’t getting the nutrition he needed and more than that, that we were allowing bad habits to set in. After experiencing some technical difficulties getting our video call started, my coach Sara listened closely to my concerns and dug deep into our current eating routine. She eased my concerns that from a nutritional perspective, my toddler was likely just fine. What a relief. She then gave some great tips and tricks to start changing his eating habits. Cutting new foods into fun shapes or different cutting techniques (fries, diced, etc) are some tricks I’ve tried incorporating and they work - he at least tries the food which is a win. She also set some ground rules for us as parents to take control back from our toddler - it’s easy to enable him to avoid a tantrum but Sara provided some steps to help set boundaries around mealtime. The price tag is a little steep for the half hour consult, but I did get a lot of value out of it and would recommend this service to anyone who’s tried scouring the internet and is looking for some advice customized to your particular child.
Great Virtual Resource
Thank you to Stellar Panel for the opportunity to try Tot Squad. It was very easy to make an appointment on their site and the nutritionist was on time for the call. It was nice to know that there are virtual resources like this especially during Covid. They had late time slots which made it convenient after work/after baby went to bed. As for the content, it was just okay— as a first time mom and just starting my baby on foods I was looking for advice on allergy/food introductions. She recommended that we wait 7-10 days between trying new foods which is a very conservative approach! To keep everything else the same— lotions, soaps, etc so it’s easier to isolate the cause if there is a reaction.
Easy to use but not that helpful...
The nutritionist was very nice and responsive, but didn't provide a lot of new information. She answered specific questions and did follow up with a few recipes for my toddler.
It was very easy to schedule and use the technology.
I discovered Tot Squad through the Stellar Panel
I discovered Tot Squad through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. After learning about this service, I decided to try it out because there was nothing to lose. I paid $50 and received 5 $10 gift cards back. I chose the feeding support service because I wanted to learn how to properly and safely prepare and store baby food. I also wanted to know what foods I should avoid and what foods I should give my baby. I felt satisfied with the information I received from my coach and felt confident about feeding my baby.
I thought booking a call with Tot Squad was ok. I was very confused by the time zones. I am ET and my coach was ET, but Tot Squad showed all the video call times in PT zone. I thought everything went smoothly until I was waiting for my coach. My camera and audio worked and my coach could hear and see me but I could not hear my coach. About 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment, my coach called me and apologized and we started the call. There were definitely technical difficulties through the Tot Squad platform, but I was still able to get the feeding support I needed. My coach was very nice and answered all of my questions. Unfortunately, I probably would not use this service again because I think a 20 minute call is too short and my coach spent 10 minutes trying to get the video call to work.
Tots Squad is a great resource.
I signed up for Tot Squad in the desperate need of getting my very picky eater to EAT! As most parents know, getting your picky eaters to eat can be a challenge and when the opportunity came through from Stellar Reviews, to talk to a nutritionist, I thought what do I have to lose. Sign up was very quick and easy. Within minutes I was sent a link to pick a time to have a consult with a nutritionist. There were so many times available to choose from. This was amazing because as a mom of 3 kids, my time is very limited.
Cora was our nutritionist and she was amazing. We had slight technical difficulties but once those were solved we dove right in. Cora gave me many tools and information to get me started on a path to getting my son to eat more foods. Cora was a great help and I can’t wait to implement some of her suggestions. Thank goodness she emailed me after our consult with all the information we discussed because well, time is precious and I don’t have much of it.
It was only a 20 min time slot and even though we went over a little, I felt like I need even more time. I would think for $50 you should at least have 45 minutes to an hour. I don’t see a lot of people using this service for the amount it cost vs the amount of time you get.
Professional, helpful advice with practical solutions
This 30 minute feeding consultation was a great support for me as a parent of a super picky toddler. The appointment was easy to set up, with a lot of flexibility to fit my busy schedule. My coach, Krystyn, really listened to my concerns and gave me amazing tips and suggestions that left me feeling empowered as a parent. My husband and I have been using the ideas given to us, and have found ourselves enjoying meal time again! It isn't perfect, but the progress we have made gives me hope that my kids are both developing positive eating habits. The consultation confirmed things that I was doing well, and ideas on how to help improve our food conversations in the home to help develop these habits even more. I would absolutely use this service in the future and I have recommended this to fellow moms of picky eaters! I also love that my coach followed up with an email with further information about our conversation. I can even follow her on social media to get more great tips. Thanks for the support, both for my self and for my picky toddler!Thank you to the Stellar Review Pannel for this opportunity.
Great service, just not for me
Tot squad is a modern and up to date way for all nursing mom's to get advice, help and support especially during tough times such as these.
It was super easy to schedule online a time and date to make an appointment to meet over zoom. My coach was good but honestly I can't say she helped me in particular much. During video call, she told me because she's not seeing me in person, there is not much she can help with. Being a 3rd time nursing mama, I think I honestly helped myself more than the appointment helped me. I kind of wish I learned something new or helpful tips to fixing my nursing issue. At the end, she kindly offered to send me links and information on breastfeeding that I already researched online myself from before. Therefore, this was my least favorite part about the video call. I can't say I learned much but maybe this was just my experience. I think if I was a first time mom and didn't have access to a lactation consultant this would be convenient and very beneficial. The other thing for me personally is that I do not feel comfortable nursing my son over the internet on a video chat with a stranger. Moving forward, I doubt I would use this service but I would still recommend it to my girlfriend who may need help or advice from an experienced lactation consultant and who is comfortable on the internet.
easy and helpful feeding support
I found the session with Tot Squad very helpful! Super easy to set up, and Coach Leonila was kind and supportive. She answered all my questions about my 3yo and 10 month old boys and also gave me ideas about quick and easy meals for the kids and how to make them BLW friendly and preschooler friendly. Thanks again to Tot Squad and to the Stellar Testing Panel for the opportunity!
I scheduled a call with Tot Squad to…
I scheduled a call with Tot Squad to discuss my toddler who is a picky eater. Booking the call was very simple - I purchased the call through the Walmart website, and then was sent very clear email instructions with a link to sign up for a time slot. I LOVED that the time slots began early in the morning and ran well past toddler bedtime, and there was also a lot of weekend availability. I was able to get an appointment as soon as the next day, and I could work around my work schedule and my kids’ routines so that the call had no impact whatsoever on our day, which was awesome. While I know remote/video appointments have become the norm (at least for now), I still really appreciated this format and flexibility as a working mom with little ones, and felt the range of times gave Tot Squad an advantage over any other video appointments I’ve scheduled.
My coach, Theresa, was excellent. She was kind and empathetic but also very clearly knowledgeable about feeding concerns. I love that she is a lactation consultant in addition to a registered dietician, because she was able to incorporate information about my toddler’s nursing history and consider all aspects when thinking about her current eating habits. Theresa provided reassurance but also gave me practical suggestions, and I left the call feeling heard and with some ideas for improvement to try at home. She also followed up and provided helpful and reputable literature via email, which was a nice touch.
I would consider using Tot Squad again if the price were more reasonable. The call was great for a low commitment, super convenient opportunity to speak with a professional about concerns that may or may not warrant more formal or consistent help. However, at $50 for a 20 minute session, it would probably be more cost effective for me to schedule a free screening with a local pediatric therapy clinic or to pay the co-pay through my insurance for a virtual or office visit with a specialist with similar credentials.
My favorite part about Tot Squad was the convenience of scheduling and the comfort of making the call from my own home. The commitment was minimal, and it was not at all intimidating for a parent who might be hesitant to reach out for help. It’s a nice option if you are looking for a little reassurance about next steps - is a call and a few tips enough, or should I pursue something more to help my child? This is a great way to find out. Still, the cost may be prohibitive for some. For me, if I were considering this service again, it would depend on whether convenience or cost were more important to me at that moment in time. If I need an appointment right away with flexible timing, Tot Squad would be worth the price. If I can wait and work around typical business hours, I could likely save most or all of the cost by looking elsewhere.
Great feeding support
The Tot Squad helped answer all my questions about starting solids with my baby. It was easy to book a call with the Tot Squad and easy to find a time that suited me. My coach was informative and answered all my questions about baby led weaning. She also provided additional resources for me reference. If I had more specific questions or my baby had issues with solid foods, I would definitely use Tot Squad again. My favorite aspect of the Tot Squad was the ease of booking an appointment and meeting via video chat. Thanks to the Stellar Panel for connecting me to the Tot Squad.
Friendly Support from the Comfort of Home
The Tot Squad support system is wonderful! My coach was personable and knowledgeable. She had multiple recommendations for me in regard to my original inquiry about bottle feeding my breastfed baby. I felt my coach had a rich background and experience with helping others. And we were both chatting from the comfort of our homes!
I highly recommend this experience to anyone who needs a little extra support. Booking the appointment was quick and easy. It started on time and as I stated previously, my coach was amazing! I will definitely use this service again. My absolute favorite part of this service was the personal integrity of my coach. I felt as if I was confiding in a friend. I would like to thank the Stellar Product Panel for directing my attention to this opportunity.
What a great resource
To start, booking with TotSquad was so easy. The scheduling system was quick and easy to use, and there were so many choices available for my session. Also, there were tons of time slots and plenty were early morning or late at night after the kids were in bed, so it was really convenient.
I really liked my coach, as she was a mom herself and was super personable. I showed up in my towel after a shower, and she completely related and didn't make me feel bad for not being put together.
She was easy to talk to, really knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. She even took time after our session to send me helpful links and resources based on our convo. I would absolutely recommend TotSquad based on my experience.
While I generally don't seek outside advice like this, I found it refreshing to speak with someone in a relaxed setting, who wasn't my doctor but was more experienced than a friend. Especially when the internet can be overwhelming, it was nice to get guidance specified to my situation.
