A chance walk past the Tom Howley Harrogate showroom in 2023 gave impetus to our vague notion of a ground floor renovation. The thought of putting in such a kitchen crystallised us into going ahead with the refurbishment in June 2024. We visited the Tom Howley showrooms nearer home and also researched other kitchens in the same bracket as those we’d seen in Harrogate.
We met Sandra the Tom Howley designer at the Wigmore Street showroom. She encouraged us to go ahead with the kitchen design phase of the project. During our many meetings, she patiently took into consideration our ideas and needs for a beautiful but functional kitchen.
Sandra completely appreciated the need to keep within our budget and she helped us tweak the design while not compromising on appearance or function. Sandra expertly helped us choose appliances and provided us with the make and model numbers of appliances that we decided to source ourselves. The appliances as well as the worktop, which we also sourced ourselves, fitted into the final kitchen perfectly.
During the design process Sandra visited the house while still in construction. She gave us confidence about the design of the planned kitchen and was very positive about the building work.
It’s a pity that Tom Howley gave a rather long lead time between confirming the kitchen design and installation. It led to some delays with the completion of our project.
Also, delivery of the kitchen furniture was not as smooth as it should have been. The kitchen came assembled and not flat packed to take account of restricted access. To help get the furniture in, our front door had to be removed but there was some damage to our walls as well as surface damage to the cabinetry. Some units had to be dismantled before bringing them into the house.
However, Mark, the Tom Howley installer was experienced and dealt with the situation calmly. He assured us that once installed, the kitchen would look show-room perfect (and, indeed, it does!). The installation manager, Paul, liaised between Mark and the office to ensure that the matter was resolved to our satisfaction.
Installation took several days of Mark’s meticulous and diligent work; every little detail was attended to. The result was perfect, a huge testament to Mark’s skill and experience. Stan, the Tom Howley painter made good any remaining scuffs and slight indentations.
We now have a stunning Tom Howley kitchen to be very proud of. It’s received huge praise from our (often very honest!) family and friends.
Were it not for the long lead-in time and the delivery snag (of not allowing for restricted access), we'd have happily given 5 stars.

I could not rate Tom Howley more highly. I have been truly impressed by the excellent service throughout and the quality of the finished kitchen. The team working on this project have been outstanding: Lucy (Designer) provided much guidance throughout the design process, balancing practicality, symmetry and ‘feel’ and which has resulted in a lovely open/airy but also hard-working kitchen; Helen (Installation Manager) coordinated the installation process efficiently and without delays and was always on hand to follow up on any questions/issues; and last but not least, Chris, Tom and Joe, who carried out the fitting and painting of the units, and whose workmanship speaks for itself (everyone is commenting on the impressive quality of finish). Together, they have created a beautiful and very practical space having navigated all the challenges an old Victorian building and a relatively small space can throw at them. It was a big investment, but the superior level of service offered at every stage of the process (including the aftercare available) and the quality of the resulting kitchen has made it worth every penny.

We are extremely delighted with our kitchen from Tom Howley. The quality is solid and the finishing is perfect. We made alot of research and visited alot of other hi end kitchen companies, studied their products, their design, their finishing , quality and their expertise. Thereafter it was an easy choice of Tom Howley.

We met Brenda who became the designer and our project manager, she is a real star. Very knowledgeable in design and very experienced about the use of kitchens and efficiency of products. Brenda was very patient as it took us alot of time to decide, change our minds and then decide again. However she made it easy and delivered at every aspect, beyond our expectations.
Another star, was the installer, Sean, he did an impecable job , he was experienced , calm and knew his job inside and out. The kitchen, breakfast room, utility and boot room were installed in 10 days, we could not believe the speed and attention to detail.
All the team from TH were extremely professional and personable.
We cannot but highly recommend Tom Howley.

This was by far the best experience we have received when fitting a kitchen, chris and tom were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. the finish is incredible. Helen thornell was our project manager at tom howley and she managed the whole process seemlessly.
I also have to mention Fiona who was our designer, again was incredible at asking the right questions to get us exactly what we wanted. We are so pleased.

From the moment we stepped into the showroom to completion of our kitchen the customer service has been outstanding. Our new Tom Howley kitchen is absolutely stunning, classic, solid, well made and built to last. The beautiful work surfaces, splash backs and Tom Howley door knobs compliment the beautiful oak cabinetry perfectly. Cris our designer was absolutely brilliant. Glen who fitted our kitchen was superb and his craftsmanship and attention to detail was second to none. The whole team from start to finish have been excellent resulting in a truly exquisite country kitchen.

From the planning to the execution Tim Smith and his colleagues including Victoria at the Tunbridge Wells showroom have been superb. We are so delighted with our furniture and couldn't have wished for a better result. Even the intricate details that we would never have even thought of were taken into account during the planning. Whilst Gary Cole our assigned installation project manager provided the perfect connect with the team on site and the planners. Josh and the team were meticulous and tidy and very respectful whilst they installed the furniture and were always more than happy to answer any questions. Thank you so much for all the work that you have done. We are so grateful.

Five Stars – A Truly Outstanding Experience from Start to Finish

We recently had a kitchen fitted by Tom Howley in St Albans, and while there were definitely some challenges along the way—including a few items that were delivered incorrectly or initially fitted wrong—what stood out most was how the team handled everything. In my opinion, the true test of a great company is not when everything goes smoothly, but how they respond when things go wrong. And Tom Howley absolutely excelled.

They resolved every issue without hesitation, with professionalism and care. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. I can honestly say they could not have done more for us, and we’re incredibly grateful to now have a kitchen that’s not only beautiful but built to stand the test of time.

Special thanks to Paul Mantell, our dedicated project manager during the actual build who was fantastic throughout—calm, communicative, and completely on top of everything.

Paul Matthews, the designer, came up with some truly brilliant ideas and helped bring our vision to life in ways we hadn’t even considered.

Our fitter, Mark Coleman, deserves a huge mention for his outstanding attention to detail—something I’m particularly fussy about. And finally, Keenan, the painter, who finished the job to an exceptional standard.

We’re over the moon with the end result, and wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to recommend Tom Howley to anyone looking for a high-quality kitchen and an incredibly supportive team. They’ve been nothing short of superb.

The journey began with a warm welcome from Richard Holden, whose patience and expert guidance helped us commit to the design of our new kitchen. He worked tirelessly to make sure every aspect was tailored to our needs, all while keeping us informed and confident in our choices.
Richard’s enthusiasm, knowledge, and friendly approach during the design stage were invaluable as well. His passion for creating beautiful kitchens was clear from the very first meeting, and his ongoing support throughout the project made the entire process feel effortless.

Stella Gilbert worked patiently to help me commit to a new kitchen and the results exceeded expectations. She recommended One stop solutions who work with TH and this created a level of professionalism and expertise with works scheduled by Terry and carried out by his incredible team. All lovely to have around and the final result is stunning .Stella also recommended Pure Stone for the floor and I absolutely love it. A faulty fridge freezer was replaced immediately and any blemished on the furniture were replaced without me even asking!

From our first initial meeting at the showroom with Suzie we could clearly see her passion, knowledge and enthusiasm. With her friendly approach, she has been hands-on with communication throughout our self-build which proved invaluable.

Jon's meticulous approach to developing the design and Natalies coordination followed by the on site planning by Terry and the Jones team who fitted it, we have been really impressed by the professionalism and customer focus of everyone we have met. Finally Stan did an amazing job of the final paint coat which put the icing on the cake. We would highly recommend Tom Howley and if we ever do another kitchen project we know who we will go to. I am absolutely pleased as punch with how our Tom Howley 'rooms' have turned out and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone! From my initial visit to the showroom, the design process with Nina Anastasopoulou and the St Alban's team, through to the on site survey and coordination of works from Richard Coom, to the installation from the dream team that is the father and son duo of Lee and Brad.

The communication was second to none. The attention to detail was outright amazing. Nothing was ever too much and believe me I can sometimes be too much! The quality of the craftsmanship in the production of the cabinetry is phenomenal and each item was fitted with such care.

From the moment we walked into the Tom Howley show room, browsed their products and met Brenda Gibson, we knew we had found the right company to move forward with. Not only did Brenda design the perfect layout and kitchen for us, she also advised on other aspects such as flooring choices and light fittings, and has the patience of a saint!
When it came to the next part, we couldnt have been happier with the service received from Graham Perkins - our installation manager. He kept us up to date with install dates and progress and ensured that every aspect of the install and kitchen was perfect. His install team clean, efficient and precise.
We could not be happier with the finished product and would highly recommend Tom Howley.

From the initial discussion at the showroom with Paul the designer right through the build with another Paul the on site manager we had a first class service.
The attention to detail and the understanding of what we wanted was fantastic.
The tradesmen both Lee and his son who fitted the kitchen and Stan who did the final paint finish was very professional.

Suzie the Designer was excellent- she grasped our ideas straight away, designed a very workable layout for the space and was a joy to work with.
The plans were very detailed and guided the builders efficiently through every stage. The products were delivered on time with no damage or delays. We had a great experience with TH Harrogate. The design meetings were so enjoyable and detailed, really thinking about the personal touch. The quality of the product is second to none. Just brilliant!!!

We visited the Tom Howley St Albans branch where we met Nina Anastasopoulou who explained the different options for our bespoke kitchen. She was extremely thorough, knowledgeable and a very nice person. She made several visits to take measurements and provided a very competitive quote. The work was carried out by Adrian Craske an extremely professional and experienced installer. The job was immaculate! Very thorough and a nice person. Finally it was the turn of the 'Retoucher' Stan to make sure that every nook and cranny was perfect. Again a very competent professional. The whole process was supervised by Paul Mantell who coordinated with all the different aspects of the job to eliminate any delays or errors that could occur and make sure all was done correctly. He was very pleasant and effective. We would like to thank the whole team for a wonderful job.
