Tomato Energy.... So I am on the 5p a unit midnight till 6am. I Charge my double stack tesla batteries and run the house all day sometimes with a bit of solar and then charge the batteries again at midnight the following day.
Looking at the app the following day I see no grid useage after 6am. All well and good. The app shows a total days cost of about £1.80. The tesla app also shows no draw from the grid after 6am.
It all appears fine.
A couple of days later I check the tomato app and it shows usage throughout the same day. The new charge for the day has increased to around £2.80.
Some one is fiddling the books at tomato.
To double check I turned the main incoming supply breaker off at 6am and back on at midnight for three days so no draw from the grid throughout the day. After a couple of days the tomato app is showing substantial usage from the grid while my main breaker was off.
Looking back last month, July the same game was being applied by tomato.
This is very difficult to spot as a normal customer. The smart meter does not work with tomato.
The breakdown of the monthly bill is totally arbitrary. You are unable to verify what units you used in what time slots.
You think you are getting good electric rates but you are not.

Recently received my latest bill and they didn't take the £13.06 credit off that I currently have so I've rang up 4 times in 2 weeks and they still haven't sorted it 👎 also sent numerous emails which haven't been answered 👎how difficult is it to send a revised bill 🙁

Whilst pricing is good, I have been chasing an accurate bill for nearly 2 months whilst still receiving reminders to pay a bill that was incorrect. I have sent readings several times and it is still yet to be resolved. Can only presume this is going to lead to a hefty bill as I haven't been able to pay, even though it is me chasing. Need to sort out the billing and customer service department.

Having had a productive conversation with Pargat, who carefully explained that my estimated invoices were produced incorrectly and that monies taken from my bank account would be refunded, I then received an email from their credit department insisting I pay up (by then I had cancelled my D/D to be on the safe side). I feel that their help line is either inadequatley trained or that they have been instructed to tell us what we want to hear!
I'm awaiting a reply to my official complaint, and hope that they do the right thing. I'm more than happy to pay what I rightfully owe. I also hope the company prevails as the rates are the best out there.

Pargat was very helpful in sorting my query. Very happy with Tomato energy and its prices.
There was no delay in getting through to customer service.

Good price. Good service.
But they are not taking new customers anymore. As we are moving home, we are not longer able to use tomato energy. Shame.

I’ve been with the company for nearly a year now. While I wasn’t billed for the first 10 months and the bills that eventually came through were estimated and incorrect, I called and spoke with a representative named Pargat, who completely turned the experience around. He was polite, reassuring, and handled the situation with professionalism. He explained that my bills would be recalculated accurately and aligned with what I should have been charged.
As a relatively new company in the consumer market, some teething issues are understandable. What really matters is the customer experience—and thanks to Pargat, that’s exactly what I received. It’s because of this level of service, both now and in the past, that I’m looking to renew with Tomato.

Communication from Tomato Energy regarding my request to update my bill as they sent an estimated instead of the right value:

Hi Elisabete Rodrigues,
Thank you for your email.
I have reached out to our billing department. They have informed me that as there is only 8 kWh difference between what was estimated and what was actual usage, they are unable to revise the invoice as it does not meet the 250 kWh threshold.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Of which I replied and haven’t heard back:
Hi
You know 8kWh might not seem a lot to you, but it is to me, because £2 is lot of money when one only earns £800 a month, if the bill sent was with the correct amount of £54 there was money on my account to pay for it, I wonder why overestimating and not underestimating? If you overestimate every customer £2 at the end of the month your business going to do really well financially speaking.
Is a lot of inconvenience because now I have to find extra work to pay for those extra 8kWh.
Have a good day
Best wishes
Elisabeth
Mistakes happen; they should offer the option of in the next bill readjust the value by adding minus 8kWh to the total bill. It shouldn’t be the consumer always getting out of pocket.
Is now fully paid.
Best

I have firsthand experience seeing Tomato Energy staff writing their own reviews, and have reported it to Trustpilot but nothing was done. The leadership at Tomato Energy are fantasists who had plenty of warning about going to market with products that aren’t fit for use, and systems that don’t work. All recommendations ignored, and that manifests in all the negative posts on here.

This morning I had Pargat help me out. The guy was very informative, friendly, patient and a joy to speak with.
I actually couldn't speak more highly about this company, the service they provide had been night and day in comparison to Scottish power, I only wish I changed over years ago.

Looking to renew our contract, but as Priya describes very kindly, I have rather jumped the gun, so I will hang fire.
Have been very happy with the rate. Also glad to be able to access the app easily.
Hoping that I will be able to continue our contract
