I am writing this review to share a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience I had with The Motorcycle Workshop (tmwayr.co.uk) where I contracted them recently to replace the tyres on my new performance motorcycle. What should have been a straightforward service turned into a stressful ordeal that not only compromised my safety but also cost me significantly more than anticipated.
Despite being reassured that the tyres would be fitted promptly, the garage delivered the service with several days delay due to delivery issues even after reassurences from both companies. I remained patient throughout this initial setback. However, once the tyres were installed, I immediately began noticing unusual feel when riding it and I returned to the shop within 5 minutes to report this concerns, the mechanic test rode it and found it to be normal to them. Later I found persistent vibration, and an uncomfortably bumpy ride—even on smooth surfaces at motorway speeds as well as some unexpected noises coming from near around the tyre/breaks/suspension area. In the following days I researched this issues and found that tyre pressure could be a factor regarding some of the issues and I suggested adjusting the tyre pressures slightly to the mechanic (which did improve the handling) however the core problems persisted. Over the following days, I repeatedly reported these ongoing issues through messaging and WhatsApp. Unfortunately, I was met with vague responses and no actionable insight.
More alarmingly, when the garage attempted further adjustments, they failed to torque the components correctly— resulting in a loose pinch bolt and wrong torques settings for the front wheel axle. This is completely unacceptable, especially given the importance of precise torque and wheel balancing on high-performance motorcycles.
Out of frustration and genuine concern for my safety, I took the bike to a Yamaha dealership for a check. There, they confirmed that the wheels had not been balanced and the necessary torque settings had not been applied properly. After they balanced the wheels and correctly torqued all components, the vibration and ride quality issues were resolved however one core issue is still being investigated. However, this corrective service cost me an additional £100—on top of the £375 I had already paid to TMWAYR.
When I contacted the initial garage again with those findings, they refused to accept any responsibility. They (Brian) suggested the wheel weights “may have fallen off the front wheel,” and that "they don't add weights to rear wheel unless they are wildly out" however I know none were attached upon me inspecting the bike at collection, in fact I noticed they removed my old ones from the rear tyre as there was glue residue left where they had been. The dealership confirmed the wheels required balancing, and my bike now has visible weights on both wheels.
This experience has caused significant stress and could have endangered my life. Unfortunately, this garage did not deliver the quality of service they claimed to offer. "Our experienced technicians provide professional tyre fitting using state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring precise fitting and balancing for optimal performance..."
Brian TMWAYR has offered to "look at it again one of the nights that he is free" which I declined.
