Victoria (an experienced midwife) was great - warm, welcoming & very knowledgeable. The course was in a small group of 7 couples at Hughenden village hall on weekends which was very convenient. There... See more

Excellent course - would highly recommend
We attended the antenatal course in Wallingford, Oxfordshire run by Jenni. The course was excellent - Jenni was a wonderful teacher and an endless source of wisdom and encouragement. She put everyone at ease and delivered the course in a very relaxed and accessible way, always making it engaging. She was particularly patient when answering all our questions and she told us so many things we hadn’t already picked up from reading books/looking things up online. We have come away feeling so much more confident thanks to all the knowledge and tips we have picked up from Jenni. To anyone who is feeling underprepared for labour, birth or caring for your little one postpartum I would highly recommend this wonderful course.
We had an amazing experience with…
We had an amazing experience with Jenni’s prenatal course! It was incredibly informative and adjusted perfectly to meet our specific needs. Jenni made the sessions fun and engaging, which helped ease a lot of the anxieties we had as expecting parents. She explained everything clearly and provided so much reassurance throughout the process.
Her knowledge and warm, approachable teaching style made all the difference. We left each session feeling more confident and prepared for the journey ahead. I can’t recommend Jenni enough – this course is a must for any parents-to-be!
Amazing!
We attended the Worcester classes with Lisa and she was just amazing.
The course content was extremely informative without being too over powering and Lisa delivered in a really interactive way with a mixture of practical exercises and listening. Lisa clearly knows her craft and very easily answered all of our questions.
Post course support is also offered which is great and very comforting. We came away feeling very well prepared - would highly recommend anyone thinking about this to book now!
Great antenatal course
A great course taught by a knowledgeable and fantastic teacher. Both me and my husband feel more prepared for what’s coming ahead.
Lisa - Worcester antenatal course
We recently attended an antenatal course in Worcester and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The course was extremely informative without being overwhelming, striking the perfect balance between providing essential information and making it digestible.
Lisa, who ran the course, was absolutely brilliant. Her deep knowledge and approachable manner made it easy for everyone to engage and ask questions. She explained complex topics clearly, and her ability to break things down with practical advice left us feeling much more reassured and confident about what to expect during labour and birth.
We walked away feeling well-prepared, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Highly recommend this course to any expectant parents!
Excellent course
My partner and I did the course in Wallingford with Jenni. We learned so much! It was incredibly useful, and it has made us much more confident and prepared, but it was also really relaxed and fun. Jenni shared a wealth of knowledge and was very patient in answering all our questions. We left feeling encouraged, excited, and empowered. Highly recommended!
I highly recommend :)
I'm based in Worcester, the course was taught by Lisa. She's very kind, knowledgeable, non judgemental with any of your choices. The group is small with like minded people.
The course is updated frequently, very informative with everything you need to know to feel a bit more confident to make choices during pregnancy, labour and after birth as well. I highly recommend :)
The village midwife’s is a honest
The village midwife’s is a honest, open safe space. Looking at all the options when booking we were overwhelmed but so glad by our choice.
Sophie in Colchester taught a great class backed up by her experience and knowledge of exactly what to expect in local hospitals.
Even gave us some advice when unsure to call triage. Always above and beyond.
Credit to the company and would recommend to any “to be” parents!
Thank you !
Forget NCT, The Village midwife is the way forward...
I cannot recommend the Village Midwife enough. Not only has it introduced me to a community of amazing parents, but it armed me with all the knowledge I needed during my pregnancy. Unlike other courses like NCT, it helps to empower woman and know their rights. When to fight back if the care you are receiving isn't good enough, and helps to quantify what is normal in a time which can be completely bamboozling as a new parent. I went on the antenatal and postnatal and will be doing other courses moving forwards!
Caring, professional and empowering classes
Sophie's antenatal group sessions were brilliant. She created a warm environment, shared her expertise and left us feeling empowered heading into the birth of our baby. We also really valued the baby care information too, such as how to use a sling and different feeding options.
Absolutely fantastic course
Absolutely fantastic course! Sophie is incredibly knowledgable and supportive, and manages to relay information, in a clear, detailed way, whilst being totally non-judgemental and inclusive. We learnt so much at the antenatal and postnatal courses, meaning we felt so much more confident about the birth and looking after baby. The Village Midwife feels like a community for life, we have met lovely friends and have enjoyed the first aid and introducing solids courses as well. Can't recommend highly enough!
Wonderful course
My husband and I attended the course with Nikki in North Hants in her cosy barn conversion. She was incredibly knowledgeable, you could tell she was passionate about supporting expecting mums and found a perfect balance between focusing on more "natural" births and offering all the info needed on all types of medications and being prepared. Each session has a distinct theme and we had 2 visitors as well. She setup a Whatsapp group with other mums and to offer advice going forward which is appreciated. Highly recommended.
Fantastic antenatal course
We recently attended Sophie’s antenatal course in Colchester and the Hypnobirthing course. Sophie is a fantastic course facilitator; she is so calm, friendly, engaging, and has a great sense of humour; her approach really helped us to feel relaxed and at ease during the course and we felt comfortable to ask any questions. Sophie also made the course interactive and enjoyable and we learnt a lot from it. Thank you Sophie :)
Invaluable sense of community
I think I would have really struggled through the postpartum period had it not been for this course. It provided us with an invaluable sense of community and Sophie seemed to have the answer to every question.
Outstanding courses
I have done both Sophie’s Antenatal and Postnatal classes and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Sophie is very knowledgeable, supportive and generally there no matter the time of day. I hadn’t planned to do any postnatal classes but once I finished my antenatal sessions with Sophie I knew I needed to join postnatal too. It’s a great opportunity to meet even more mums, have a massive support network and to get out the house/ have lunch out once in a while.
If you are considering booking onto any of the village midwife courses don’t hesitate you won’t regret it!
Postnatal Course
Signing up to this course after having my baby earlier this year was the best decision I could have made. My husband and I did the antenatal course with Sophie and the postnatal course has been a great continuation of support for me as a new mum. It’s a lovely community where I have met other mums in the same boat. We meet up regularly outside the classes and that support has been invaluable. The visiting specialists at the classes and Sophie’s wisdom has helped with my new mum worries. If only the classes could continue until my baby is at least 5😂 I couldn’t recommend the course enough.
Fantastic Postnatal Course
I attended the postnatal course and it was the most calming, supportive and caring place for a new mum. Sophie’s empathy shines through: listening to everyone’s different dilemmas and questions, while also providing sensible and straightforward advice. The topics covered each week were really useful, and always felt very interactive and tailored to the group rather than just rinse and repeat. I really valued the range of visiting guests Sophie has to give specialist advice and insights.
Sophie provides such a welcoming space at the village midwife HQ, from offering you a hot drink to holding your baby while you go to the loo! The sessions are always flexible depending on where discussions go and Sophie manages this well.
Really couldn’t recommend the classes enough- I feel much more confident as a new parent now, both from the information shared at the courses as well as learning and empathising with the other new mums in the group.
Thanks for all the support
We initially had Sophie round to our home for private hypnobirthing sessions, which were invaluable. Sophie is very knowledgeable and made us feel safe and heard. This made it an easy decision to join the postnatal group as well.
The group helped me get out the house with a purpose in the earlier weeks post giving birth - the group provides a fun and supportive community of people in the same position. Sophie makes everyone feel at ease and provides good information in the sessions and balanced advice. It’s very much a parent focused group to support each other and get information you wouldn’t get elsewhere, rather than it being focused on the babies. This was exactly what I needed and it gave me to confidence to get out with my baby. Sophie and the classes are amazing!
Highly recommend Nikki’s classes in North Hampshire
My husband and I attended Nikki’s classes in North Hampshire (Kingsclere).
We found the course really informative and now feel well prepared for both the birth and postnatal period. Nikki was also able to give us invaluable insights into what to expect at the hospital as she is an experienced midwife herself.
The course is held in a lovely relaxed setting with tea and lovely cakes!
We’re really pleased that we chose this course and that we got to have Nikki leading it.
Highly recommended
We recently completed an antenatal and hypnobirthing class with Sophie (Based in Colchester Essex) We found Sophie and the class content really informative, helpful and would recommend to anyone. No question felt silly to ask. As Sophie is also a qualified midwife we felt this really helped with putting us at ease.
We have a lot more knowledge of birth now and feel confident in making the right decision for us.
Thank you Sophie!
