The Rooflab Yorkshire Ltd put my life and home in danger of fire.
The roof lab Yorkshire Limited is run by the Son of James Rennard. I never met James Renard Junior, but he’s Dad was my main contact.
We found the company through my builder.com where its reputation seemed solid.
They completed one job successfully for me, although not to absolute perfection as I found out subsequently. I asked them if they could pigeon proof my solar panels and they came and completed the work on the 11th of May and duly paid
What I found out subsequently was that Not only was the working adequate they’d use chicken wire but they’d cut off the rails for my solar panels and damaged my inverter and done £3500 worth of damage to my property as well as affecting and install using Wood which was an extreme fire hazard and when the solar engineer heard said you must get the Wood off immediately because your risk of fire on your roof is extreme. Someone who was ex experienced in bird proofing? Solar panels? Would’ve known the overheating was a danger and caused fire and that Wood is flammable. We had no idea
I’ve asked for compensation so that we are back in the position we would’ve been had we paid someone else to do our bird proofing. We’ve used the normal challenges of going through citizens advice and seeking mediation but no letter has been acknowledged or answered.
But more disturbing what I found out today was that James Renard the man who came to our house has a criminal record that as long as my arm and has been convicted and served a prison sentence of defrauding pensioners who he was doing roofing work for. And further conviction for using his car as an offensive weapon and attacking a neighbour with a sledgehammer during a neighbour dispute. If I had known these things I would never have engaged him.
I am distraught and devastated that this man put my life in my home at risk and will bear no consequences for this and unless we can pursue him through a small claims court because it’s a civil rather than a criminal matter. If you look at his profile on some of the website he has a good profile. Please be aware and do not use this man.
