Ordered on 23 April — still missing the main item, smart litter box. No response to emails and zero communication. For a $600+ order, this is completely unacceptable. Extremely disappointing.

DO NOT BUY

DO NOT BUY, absolutely rubbish and a rip off!!! When I brought this there was hardly any reviews. Now just google and you find a large amount of negative reviews...
Im having to wash the entire unit 3 times a week on a good week some weeks it is daily.
The silicone mat is poorly designed and doesn't stay in place. I stupidly purchased a second mat thinking the first was just a dud. Nope the second one is exactly the same.
Urine leaks through the mat and onto the base of where the pod sits that's even if the mat doesn't move out of place.
Dirty litter falls back into the clean litter towards the end of the cleaning cycle even with a empty bag.
The pod itself is really small and at times my cat has peed out the vent at the back.
Not worth the $600 and 3 week wait to receive it.
Company claims to be Australian and product delivered in 2-4 days took 3 weeks for me

This product is just terrible

This product is just terrible, and so is their customer service. It doesn't work and is a pain to clean. They'll find any excuse, like a paper litter-level tag coming off or minor scratches, then say that it's not under warranty. Complete waste of time and money. I even bought the extended warranty. What a scam. Consumer watchdog should look into these criminals.

Terrible review of service and water…

Terrible review of service and water fountain.

I purchased the $170 water fountain that was on sale because I liked the fact that if there was a power outage there would be no affect to my cats water if I’m not home.
I still had to plug in the unit because the settings of continuous water only works when plugged in.
I found the fountain to be extremely loud and like a form of torture with the constant dripping.

I launched an email conversation with them to start the refund process. They wanted to trouble shoot the leak, by me sending a video of the fountain working and making noise.
They told me that I should move it to another part of my house. Because I live in a one bedroom apartment this is not possible.
They finally agreed to the return and gave me the address for return. I had to have everything that was given in the box (including cardboard, brush for cleaning/ tweezers. Everything) which luckily I had kept. I had to clean it to new and return in new condition. I had only had it a week so that wasn’t a problem.

Returned the item via Australia Post, sent them the shipping details and tracking number. The item was returned to their warehouse two days later. I set up a notification through the Australia Post app so I knew when they had received it.

I have since followed up over 6 times. They say the item is not received at the warehouse and they are unable to find it. It was sent almost a month ago, confirmed delivery and now lost on their end.
They said I might have sent to the wrong address or the wrong name on the address. Which I used exactly what they provided me.
They now have the perfectly cleaned water fountain back and also my $170.

I guess I can see why they you are unable to see any google reviews. They are a scam.

Terrible at meeting their promises

I do agree with what I’ve read here in regard to customer service. I’m still waiting for a credit to be processed for the Purr-flow water fountain I purchased in January and returned in March. To start the water fountain was not sent in the speedy manner which this company advertised on its website. I initiated a dispute through me credit card company. Eventually the item arrived after several weeks. My cat was unimpressed and after a month’s trial we decided to return the fountain. The company promises to accept any returns on a no questions asked basis and to process the refund within 1-2 days. Not so. After following the lengthy instructions I sent the fountain back. It took them a week from the date it arrived back with them to have them able to confirm receipt of the item back in their warehouse. Then of course they tell me they can’t process the refund until I cancel the dispute with cc company. Which I did (unwillingly) and confirmed this to Purrpod. This was 2 April. Still no sign of the credit on my account. And Purrpod will now not respond to emails to follow up. Buyer beware!

I tried to get a refund and return it…

I tried to get a refund and return it within the 90 day guarantee and they ignored me. It is difficult to clean and whilst cleaning it the grey flap that keeps the waste in snapped. It took them three months before I got the part and three months where I couldn’t use it. I only recently started using it again and it is not cleaning properly, the layers of litter allowed is not deep enough to stop the wet litter from sticking to the bottom resulting in a smelly litter box. I changed to tofu litter as suggested with no better results. To top it off the waste compartment flap often pops open by itself whilst rotating and then the litter box stops and if I sm not home the poor cat does not have enough litter to scratch around. Don’t waste your hard earned money . I do not recommend it.

I would agree with the other 1 star…

I would agree with the other 1 star reviews on here. So bad in terms of meeting its promises as to feel like it's a scam. Avoid. Currently trying to get them to meet their obligations under consumer law but finding that the simplest option is to ignore their returns process which seems designed to mire you in meeting their invented conditions of return and confuse you out of simply submitting a chargeback through your bank or small claims court. Both very likely to succeed (keep records) and do not require you to be gaslit into thinking you need to jump through all their hoops. Australian consumer laws are stronger than the promises PurrPod makes about how you will get your money back thru them (you might but it will cost you and they will make it hard for you). They do not meet their promises, let alone consumer protection standards. Telling you to clean and sanitise it (when it makes itself filthy) which will wash off a tiny sticker, and then making you pay to return it only to say, "you have washed off the tiny sticker, no refund for you" is just one example of how it goes down. This company has only been around since Aug 2024, and appears to be making it up as they go. For the first few months (when I bought one) it was the PurrPod Litter Robot. This was on their site, the order etc. What was delivered was neither PurrPod or Litter Robot (totally different company) but a cheaply sourced unit available on Amazon and Alibaba called a Smart Cat Litter Box. Litter Robot may have ceased and desisted them, because all Litter Robot references are gone. Too late for anyone they successfully confused. By offering a 90 return guarantee they both make a false promise ("no questions asked") and confuse many into thinking buyers must follow all their rules. YOU HAVE 12 MONTHS by default. Start a return with them but don't send it to them at your expense. If you are still looking, look elsewhere, do not purchase a PurrPod anything.

Product and company does not live up to promises

Hi Everyone,

The following was my experience of the Purr-Pod and the company's customer service.

I purchased it on the 27/11/24. I had never bought an automatic litter box before and wanted to give it a try. I was reassured by the fact that it was an Australian company and the they offered a 90 day money-back guarantee if you or your cat werent satisifed with the product.

I received it on the 5/12/24. I set it up immediately and started using litter that I had been using with my traditional litter box (Michu tofu litter). During the first cleaning cycle it emptied out about 1/3 of the clean litte with the waste. I contacted their customer service for advice. They were quick to respond and provided some tips and suggested that I change to a different litter (Freschco tofu litter), which I did. This did not resolve the problem, it continued to clear too much clean litter with the waste. The product also didn't clean all the waste and when it rotated to perform the clean cycle it would cause the clumped waste to smear all over the inner drum. In the end I was scooping waste. I stopped using the product on 16/1/2025 and emailed customer service to initiate the return process.

Between the 16/1/25 and 5/2/2025, I wrote them 16 emails requesting that they honour their 90 day money-back guarantee and initiate the return process. I had to tell them I would be informing the ACCC and writing a honest review before they agreed to the return. They finally agreed to the refund.

During the multiple emails they did the following things:
- Asked me for photographic evidence of the issues I had encountered with their product. There is nothing on their website to state that you need to do this to return the product. I had to point this out to them.
- Deleted the email chain when they responded to my emails. I'm not sure why they did this.
- Initially, would not answer direct questions that I asked them pertaining to the return process and insisted that they wanted to work with me to troubleshoot the issues.
- Suggested that the issues I was having were due to me using an incompatible litter. I forwarded my previous emails with their customer service to show that I was using litter their company had recommended.
- Offered me 12 months free litter bags to keep using the product and continue troubleshooting it.
- When I requested they pay for my return postage to make up for how long it took to initiate the return and that they had not honoured the promises made in their 90 day money-back guarantee, they stated they couldn't do that but offered to send me a complimentary Purr-cloud. I have not received this.

If you are in the same situation I encourage you to be persistent and continue to ask for what you want.

I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Purrpod is shoddy and terrible support

I asked for a refund and after around 3 weeks they finally gave me an address. The return shipping was over 100 out of pocket and now, it’s being sent back, because apparently the address was incorrect. How wonderful ….

Their support is genuinely ridiculous. I gave them a comprehensive list of issues I was dealing with and they gave me some spiel about how no one else has dealt with these issues.

Here where my thoughts on the actual product:
Here are some of my concerns after having tried it with both tofu and bentonite clay litter:

1. the purrpod is not very good at sorting used from used litter. This means it ends up not even always lasting a week before the waste compartment is full and bits of cat poo end up with the rest of the fresher litter. This then means that it smells more unpleasant than when we were using a regular litter. This is despite cleaning and exchanging the litter weekly(this is with one kitten, around 8 months old)

2. The purrpod is really frustrating to clean. a) in trying to get the litter waste bag out, spare litter ends up around the bag and on the floor and creates extra work. b) it seems almost impossible to get all the litter out of the barrel to clean it. Some amount of it is always in some crevice or in the lip of the opening, even when you take out the plug thingy in the back. c) cleaning the barrel with water and soap is frustrating because it’s hard to rinse out and then be able to get completely dry especially with the claw marks in the silicone; I think to somewhat remedy this, the surface in the back could be made to be sloped towards the plug.

3. I’m not impressed with its construction. I don’t think the silicone will last very long and the overall construction feels somewhat flimsy. I’m not convinced by its ability to last, especially since I don’t think I can source replacement parts or repairs (as far as I am aware of)

Purr-Pod Support is useless and a scam at this stage

We have been trying to return this product for 2 weeks and they still wont take it back at this stage after only 30 days as it didn't work for us with the catching compartment not big enough to take our cats clumping wee. Tried many different litters with no success. No refund, no satisfaction very difficult to deal with. Purr-Pod have a 90 day no question asked guarantee what a joke at this stage I feel we have been scammed.
Did get my refund after persistance, but am over $100 out of pocket as you have to pay return postage. Then they rang and asked for me to change my rating because they approved my refund, are you joking!
