Best LGBT matchmaking service in London! I came to Lara after trying with a few other matchmakers in London. As a queer woman in my late 50s, they all rendered it impossible to work with me, but Lara immediately took me on and the process was easy. After not long I went on a date with the woman who I am now happily with. Coming here has got my spark back, thank you Lara and the team. I couldn’t have done it without you all!

The sign up process was really easy, it was good I could complete my own profile and I had a few questions which were answered quickly. They picked which photos were best for me to use on my profile which helped me. It is a pleasure to deal with Lara and her team

I left an honest review about my experience with Matchmaker UK on 04/12/2024 on Trustpilot and Google. Since then, a lot has happened.

Lara, the matchmaker, has changed her response to my review three times. The first version included a clear breach of the NDA, revealing confidential information about me. I politely asked her to remove the NDA-breaching content—no response. So, naturally, I escalated the issue to my lawyer.

My lawyer reached out, advising her of both a GDPR breach (for disclosing my private information) and the NDA violation, urging her to self-report to the ICO (the UK body overseeing GDPR breaches). Initially, no response from Lara. However, within 48 hours, she quietly edited her response to remove the NDA breach.

Then, we finally heard back. Lara denied breaking the NDA and instead went on a rant about how “amazing” and “award-winning” she is. (For what it’s worth, in my experience, awards are often bought through event participation—the more money you pay, the bigger the award. But that’s just my opinion.)

Defamation Accusations & Changing Stories

Since then, there’s been a lot of back and forth. According to Lara, leaving a negative review on Trustpilot or Google is “defamation” and a “breach of contract.” The irony? These platforms exist specifically for people to share their experiences.

We were even accused of organizing others to leave bad reviews. The truth? I have no idea who left those reviews, but they sound eerily similar to my experience. It seems that if you aren’t an “easy” client, the blame is always on you.

Meanwhile, Lara changed her response on my original review a third time. I haven’t changed my review at all.

Legal Threats & Ongoing Issues

We have since requested a refund for both the service fee and legal expenses. This entire situation could have been avoided had Lara simply followed the NDA and not committed a GDPR breach.

Instead, I have now been repeatedly threatened with lawsuits—not just for my Trustpilot review, but even for posting on my own Facebook and LinkedIn about my experience with a lifestyle coach (where I never even mentioned Lara or Matchmaker UK). The post simply included a link to Trustpilot, and yet I was still accused of wrongdoing.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, I encourage anyone reading this to look at all the reviews—both good and bad. Notice the pattern:

🔹 If you leave a negative review, you’re attacked and blamed.
🔹 If you leave a positive review, everything is fine.

The truth? We were just clients looking for love, believing the promises made to us. Instead, we were let down.

Mistakes happen, and that’s okay. But when a business & it’s owner refuses to take accountability and instead resorts to blaming the client, threatening legal action, and trying to silence honest feedback, that’s a massive red flag.

I’ll continue to provide updates here if anything more happens.

My friend used the services, it was shocking to see how they treated them during the experience of the contract. Then truly awful to see how they behaved when they have an honest review of the service.

Wow shocking how they treating paying customers, it’s terrible what they have said in feedback from paying clients! Their owner seems to get so nasty, I’ve met her once in London so self adsorbed it was insane. I reached out to them over a year ago and no one ever came back to me.

All experiences can be a rollercoaster sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes you’re just hanging on for dear life in the middle. For me, using dating apps shouldn’t feel like I’m taking on a second job. If I wanted to spend hours scrolling, I’d be on all dating apps, not trying to find love. Let’s face it we use these services because we need a little help, some guidance, and maybe a bit of matchmaking magic. There’s no guarantee it’s not like the matchmaker’s hiding behind the plants on the date coaching us through it. At the end of the day, it’s all down to two people. That said, I’m a little shocked when I read the negative reviews. Personally, I’d happily vouch for my experience. Lara and her team made me feel like I wasn’t just rolling the dice on love.
