The Business was born in the late 1950’s nestled in the heart of Historic Yorkshire often referred to as "God's own County'' due to large stretches of countryside, including the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Peak District National Parks. Serving the local community throughout the 1960s, 70s, 80s & 90s before its decline in the early 2000s with the creation and growth of modern supermarkets. We took over the business as an enthusiastic eclectic bunch of ex-militaries, corporate retailers & local people, looking to do something entirely different. Tired of the greedy ethos of “Profit before People” and constantly squeezing suppliers, we set about creating a sustainable business model that puts “People before Profit” and offers some of Yorkshires and the UK’s leading artisan products at prices that are both affordable & represent exceptional value. We recognise that right across the Country and locally, our business is working hard to bring Communities more value on the items they need and want, as incomes are squeezed & financial pressures put more and more hardworking families in impossible situations. Our mission is to help and support these families to be able to buy the products they both need and like by removing the constant fear of price increases and putting “People before Profit”. We are working towards becoming Carbon Neutral & offer a large range of organic, eco-friendly plant-based products, but we have so much more work to do to protect the environment for our children and their children’s, children. We have thoughtfully curated ranges of unique and exciting food, drink, alcohol, cleaning products, toiletries, laundry products, sweets & snacks, hot drinks & cold drinks, fizzy pop, fruit juices, fruit & vegetables, parent, baby and child products in addition to our furry friends with a curated range of pet products. We believe in putting people before profit and keep our prices low on products that customers both need and want. We're constantly adding new enviromentally friendly & exceptional value products, to find the right balance & mix. We're not perfect yet, but we're conscious to continually strive to leave a positive mark within the industry.
