Appalling Quality and Customer Service

We ordered two columns for our front porch project. We kept both columns wrapped and where they were delivered to until our builder was ready to complete our project.
When my husband and the builder opened the packaging both were completely shocked at the state of the column. They had a very obvious seam on two sides of each column. They had scratches on them and the paintwork was patchy. In addition there was damage to one column. The builder said he had never seen such awful quality in his career!
I called the company immediately and sent photographs illustrating all of the above points. The customer service executive said that she also was shocked and had never seen anything as bad as these.
She was initially very helpful and passed this to the Managing Director, Andrew Lucas. Unfortunately it was at this point that things got even worse (if that was possible). He emailed to say basically hard luck nothing we can do, we will not consider your case as it is over 28 days as in our T&Cs. We were completely dumbfounded...how could anyone try to deflect accountability for not only the damage, when we had an independent witness, but also for the appalling dreadful manufacturing quality which was clearly seen in the photographs.
We sought legal advice and were told the MD could not do this as the products failed on all of the aspects of the Consumer Rights Act (2015), nor could he try to restrict these rights with his T&Cs, which he was clearly doing in his email. In other words the law overrides any restrictive company policies.
Once we sent this he agreed to refund and collect the columns.
Truly disappointing and time consuming experience. My advice would be to avoid this company at all costs.

Highly recommended

Canopy arrived on the day and time specified.
Easy to fit and looks great. Absolutely no problem with this company, would highly recommend them to others.

Walbrook 1500 over door canopy

I bought a Walbrook 1500 over door canopy online 4 years ago and had it fitted by a professional builder. During a recent gale (February 2022) the polycarbonate roof sheet was lifted completely out of the frame and crashed onto the drive. It broke into 5 fairly large pieces and many glass-like sharp shards. The canopy shop website states that "the polycarbonate roof panels are virtually unbreakable" and "do not fracture or become brittle over time". I was unsuccessful in obtaining a replacement panel from the Canopy Shop - they say it is unobtainable, in spite if the fact that the canopy comes in parts! On reflection, I have decided to have the canopy frame removed as in my opinion it is not safe and could have caused serious injury or worse.

Terrible company AVOID AVOID AVOID

Terrible company AVOID AVOID AVOID. The glass canopy they supplied distorted dangerously under its own weight. The glass has been judged unsafe by our Building Inspector and other independent experts. The canopy was manufactured by Architectural Fibreglass Mouldings and supplied by The Canopy Shop. Neither company has any concept of customer service and I'm having to take court action to resolve the issues.

WHAT A JOKE

WHAT A JOKE, I agree with Claire and Carly.Wish we had read your reviews before buying from The Canopyshop.
We ordered an overdoor canopy (Roman) , delivery 5weeks+ , then 3 weeks with customer service , trying to convince them it should be in two parts as per fitting instructions. No joy, they insisted it was only one piece. Also the underneath should be tongue&groove effect not stipple, but this was not even responded to by Lisa. Emailed several photos to show faults , not a single acknowledgment or apology. Will have to make my own alterations when eventually fitting as no alternative was offered .
So please don’t buy from them , too much hassle.

Company a total joke

Ordered the canopy with no problems on 7/7/20. No mention of any delays and as stated on website will take 4 weeks! The Canopy Shop on 27/7 to be told it will be with me next week. Chased the company on 4/8, spoke to a young girl - waiting for a call back. Didn’t get one! Chased on 12/8, spoke to Lisa, I will call you back. Nothing. Chased again 13/8 to be told she would call me back. Nothing. Chased again 14/8, had to change delivery address to a neighbours as going away. I was give a 1/2 day delivery slot and Lisa informed me that the driver would call when he was near. Away at the time, I rang The Canopy Shop to make sure delivery was going to neighbours to be told there was a problem with the van. Delivery will happen next week!! Chased the company a week later on 25/8 - 7 weeks today we placed the order. Left message for Lisa. Lisa did not return my call, no shock there. Customer Service is non-existent. Then another company called “Architectural Fibreglass Mouldings Ltd” contacted my husband to say they would be delivering our canopy. The Canopy eventually arrived on 26/8. Delivery note states a promised date of 21.8. Invoice date 17/8. Upon inspection the canopy had a noticeable scuff. We eventually got a repair kit - consisting of a piece of sandpaper and a pot of paint. Total Joke.
What I will say is you have been WARNED - both companies come under another company called BAPPCO which had only been running for 4 months. Before that it was called BAPSCO Ltd and trading for 3 months.
STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Delivery wouldn’t let me put 1 star!

Please do not buy from this company…

This company is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. The canopy it is self is great.
However the customer service is horrendous. The canopy took 20 weeks to come, which I can forgive during a pandemic.
However when the canopy came, some parts were missing. When I reported the parts missing I was told they would be out in the next delivery, this is over 5 weeks ago. The staff have lied to me about when the missing parts are coming on that many occasions I can’t count.
Now they have told me they can’t give me a date and I just have to wait while the parts are powder coated.
Also the guttering came in the wrong colour, the manager didn’t even know what guttering came with it. And said she would get back to me. This is over a week ago, I won’t hold my breath.
I would never order from this company again, nor would I recommend. Please choose anyone else for your canopy!

Ordered an Elite overdoor canopy, it arrived on the day it was promised for. It was easily installed with the help of a friend and looks great

The Strauss Canopy

The canopy, it appears, is made in two parts during fibre glass manufacture - during the assembly / lamination of the 2 parts the top part was misaligned with the bottom part by 3 to 4 cms.
Very disappointing!

I have bought 2 Canopy’s from this…

I have bought 2 Canopy’s from this company, I used their fitter to install the 1st one it took him approx 3 months to come to fit it as he kept on letting us down at the last minute, I than needed another canopy thinking if I get my own fitter I should be ok, the frame was cut incorrectly causing extra work and expense to myself and my fitters screws and others fittings were missing, got in contact with customer services which took ages to reply with a nag excuse and my compensation.
