Not worth a spa stay. Messy, no elegance, noisy. All about money. Very shabby, needs updating. We did not get the package we paid for. Definitely not worth it. Far better spa stays within the area.

Brilliant with wonderful staff.

Four of us arrived at the Belfry for an overnight stay and 2 rounds of golf to celebrate our friend's 80th Birthday.
After booking in we sat in the reception and enjoyed an excellent coffee. Our 80 year old friend ( who doesn't look 80 ) had been given a balloon with his age on it. He is quite a character and loved all the attention he received. Four lovely ladies called Christina, Alyson, Michelle and Ali deserve a special mention. They were so friendly all with wonderful attitude and even burst into song to sing happy birthday to our friend.
We found all the staff excellent, very well done to all.
The food was very good as were all the staff in the golf shop, the starters very professional and welcoming.
As a famous actor once said I'll be back !!

Ali in Fire & Ice was fantastic

We visited The Belfry for my mums birthday and Ali in the Fire & Ice was superb! Looked after us with fantastic service and was very knowledgeable about all of the different rooms to use. We will definitely be returning.

Shame you can’t select less than one…

Shame you can’t select less than one star ! Okay so we paid over £2500 to stay at the belfry for a week ! Yes your right a week ! Reason is my eldest is having medical treatment and we cannot leave the UK ! So after a 3 hour drive ! Arrive on a Sunday around 13:00pm ! Check in was caos ! You would expect special kind of check in for staying at the hotel for a week guess what nothing ! We paid for to signature rooms Omg Omg please look at the photos !!! Dust everywhere cobwebs rotten windows ! You are paying for the view of the golf course that’s it ! Also you have to request your room to be cleaned everyday ! Not only when we arrived in our room coffee stained carpets too ! Plus a third bed really left from the previous guest ! It was my husband birthday and on check in gave them bag of decorations to be done in our room the day of his birthday guess what wasn’t done ! I check everyday as I had to request our rooms to be cleaned and yes it’s noted down ! Never happend ! Next the Ryder grill the only place really to eat in thr hotel but it’s not a Buffett to be honest thankfully we didn’t pay for me and my husband as it’s a complete rip off ! Just has to pay for my eldest son ! The place is not suitable for kids my son has Tourette’s Syndrome and he had so many ticks we couldn’t stay due to the noise and the shouting ! No one could assist us at the hotel and my husband birthday night was ruined ! The staff are very unhelpful and the ques at reception desk are always so long ! To be honest 4 star is not the right star ! Wait until you see the swimming pool over crowed dirty ! The bottom off the pool was filthy went for a swim and I caught loads of other peoples hair in my hands the showers are covered in shower scum ! The hot
Tub full of children which is against the law as it’s over 13! Small children should not be in the hot tubs ! But let’s get back to the quality of the food do not pay for the breakfast it’s just eggs and that big bacon and toast not Wortn £18.99 ! To be honest we will not be returning to this hotel ! I am still waiting for the manager to return my call as we wasted £2500 for a trip that wasn’t worth it ! Customer Service requires a BIG Improvement

Golf was great but sooooo expensive.

Golf was great but sooooo expensive.
Service charge on Coffees and drinks very expensive. Asked for my 20% off due to me staying there but as checked out in the morning I was told no this wouldn’t apply. I said that was outrageous to the barmaid and she shrugged her shoulders and said she does set the prices or the rules. I would never speak to one of my customers that way. The bar staff then served one of our group and applied the 20% discount even though they too had already checked out.

Decided to stay here prior to our…

Decided to stay here prior to our holiday to Halkidiki flying from Birmingham airport. Checked in no problem. Had a couple of drinks before Sunday lunch, which was not displayed as carvery when we booked it.
Well initially the drinks in the bar , the service was poor, we waited far too long so I went to the bar to order myself but did note a service charge is applied I have no problem with this if I’m receiving a service which we did not.
The Sunday lunch was shockingly poor, the food was cold there were flies around the cold starter’s, the main course was also cold. We refused to pay for this only paying for the wine we had!
Basically the hotel is in a lovely setting but the staff are young kids no training clearly, in hospitality. I would not come here again for food, I can find better food and service not 10 minutes away !
Very disappointed 😢

Diabolically bad

I'd give this zero, but for the reasonable massage we had. In a nutshell, we had booked to have a spa day including afternoon tea and a treatment. It was bad from the word go: brown towels and robes (which says 'we cannot launder to white'), no slippers. The reception team were disinterested in helping, showing us the 'restaurant' where we would be having afternoon tea (a nasty diner with formica tables, no cloths: like a poor Frankie and Benny's or similar). The changing room was dirty, with broken lockers and no private space to change. The toilet doors had had their locks removed several times, and overall like a municipal bath. Remembering that this is meant to be a spa, we were surprised to see large family groups including many children in the pool. I didn't partake of the Fire and Ice experience, and went to the relaxation lounge. This is essentially a room with its windows covered in roman blinds, no ventilation, or refreshments (apart from a tepid jug of water with bits of decomposing lemon), and a series of poorly upholstered sofas. The therapists come in and shout the names of the guests whose treatments are next. We went from there to the afternoon tea: what a joke. From being kept waiting by the person at the desk (they had messed up the booking but kept us waiting while they came up with sheaves of paper marked with highlighter, making us feel as if we were at fault). When we were eventually seated, the waiter came to tell us the good news that the afternoon tea in our case included a hot beverage ... unless I have missed something, the tea part in the title denotes a hot beverage. Worse was to come: the food eventually arrived, to great flourish; until I was told that because I am pescatarian, there was no salmon on my sandwiches, but some extra slices of cucumber had been provided. While I was explaining that pescatarian means that I eat fish, it was noticed that my sandwiches included meat. This was replaced but still - imagine if it had been a nut allergy (and we had told them at the time of booking that one of the party had a dietary restriction). We were offered a glass of prosecco each by way of an apology, but none of us had any appetite by that time. We then repaired to the relaxation room to wait for our massages: these were (without warning) brought forward by an hour. During the time prior, i had been in touch with Guest relations by email - no one was on duty. It should also be noted that the facilities upstairs were dirty, bins overflowing, with no nice Elemis products - indeed, the dispenser had been wrenched off the wall. The massages were ok - I didn't especially appreciate seeing a pan and brush on the floor, the music was unbearably loud (event after requesting it be turned down!) and - without asking - I had my head covered in oil resulting in my looking like an angry oil slicked gull. On returning home, I wrote a long email, which was responded to by Kerry. She said the duty manager 'would of' liked to speak with me on the day (neatly sidestepping the fact that I had given my phone number and really, did I want to spend my time discussing the manifold failures). I asked for a full refund. I was offered - and accepted because clearly it was taking up more time than I wanted - £25 each, because we hadn't complained about the massages and these were worth £89 each. The following week I was called by Katie, who wanted to find out what had happened to offer 'further resolution'. I spent half an hour listing all the litany of disaster of the day, with her promising to call me: nada. I called last week to find out what was happening with the 'further resolution', to receive an email from the redoubtable Kerry, who said that the £25 refund was commensurate with the experience. Nothing in this review is anything the Belfry haven't already read. The choice is yours: if you want to waste a day of your life in a place where no one cares whether your experience is good or not, spend it at the Belfry: you won't be disappointed! I have written to Elemis to let them know how poorly their product is represented at this establishment. I have also asked The Belfry to stop emailing me their spam advertising - I never signed up for this.

Use of the childrens pool…

Myself and my daughter visited the Belfry Leisure club this morning with my grandson to use the baby pool area. A lady called Chris was on the leisure reception upon our arrival and was very helpful and friendly. Rachel was on the leisure desk upon our departure and again very polite, pleasant and helpful. Overall out experience was wonderful and will be going back again.

I would not even give one star if…

I would not even give one star if possible after the way my complaint was handled by the manager, Kerry Shepard. I was told if I wrote a bad review they would not help me. Not the receptionist Sarah or manager Kerry apologised or offer any kind of normal follow up procedure for a customer complain just rude and obstructive, Kerry said there was nobody higher than her to complain to, no further chain of command for complaints procedures and basically blamed me for booking through booking.com and not directly with the hotel. I booked and paid in full for a room for 3 through booking.com who have always been an excellent company and have had no other problems with, my son checked in and was told l had not paid and he had to pay which he did as he thought l must not have paid, which l had. Later on when l spoke to him and explained l had paid he said he told them but they said I had not and he had to pay, l sent him back to reception and spoke to them over the phone and literally had to argue with the woman to get them to refund him, which eventually they did. This was a major inconvenience for me to deal with as l work in healthcare and it’s not easy for me to come out of work during clinic to take calls, which l explained to the receptionist and asked for a manager to call me back, which they did not. My children went out for the night and got back to a small double bed room which they thought was supposed to sleep the 3 of them but clearly did not fit them all so my youngest son slept on the floor with a towel over him as he could not fit in the bed. I was clearly unhappy with this when l found out the next day and called to speak to the manager Kerry Shepard, who actually refused to give me her name and I had to get off reception. She blamed the fact I used booking.com, she was unhelpful, rude and lacked any compassion or understanding or even offered to investigate or apologise, she has zero customer service skills and actually said she would not help me at all if I wrote a bad review. I will be following up to the management company of the hotel even though Kerry told me that there is nobody above her to complain to. I have never written a bad review of a hotel in my life but her rude manner and handling of customers is disgusting she should not be in a customer facing role let alone be a manager if that is how she treats hotel guests.

Great New Years Celebrations

We spent two nights at The Belfry over New Year and we had a very pleasant stay.
All staff especially bar and restaurant staff were fantastic with very high standards of customer service.
We had New Year's dinner in the Ryder grill and the food was outstanding along with the service. We then went on to one of the parties which was great. The fireworks display at midnight was spectacular and overall a great experience.
The only reason for dropping a star was the rooms appear a little tired and dated and the room facilities could be improved. But overall a pleasurable amd comfortable stay.

Back from our trip to the Belfry this weekend.

The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't help you enough. One member of staff in particular was Joshua Smith who went above and beyond to help us.

Give that man a raise!

Sally from the spa was BRILLIANT

It was my partners birthday and I last minute called to use the Fire & Ice facilities for the day. Spoke to a lovely lady called Sally who gave me a great deal, and amazing customer service! The Belfry is lucky to have wonderful team members like her! Thank you so much Sally!!

Dreadful hotel, good golf

Nice golf course, dreadful hotel and restaurants. Billed as a family resort… it’s not.

Hotel rooms akin to a prison block, ceiling coming down in the bathroom. Rooms not cleaned unless you ask!! Whoever heard of a hotel doing that. Very expensive bar. My wife asked for a Prosecco, it came flat. The waitress said it was supposed to be flat. I explained that flat Prosecco is called wine.

Outrageously expensive restaurant. Michelin prices. I wouldn’t have minded for good food, but not for steak and chips. This time my wife asked for champagne. It came flat again. At least they didn’t try to tell us it was a special variety with no bubbles.

I would say though that the young staff were sweet and charming, but they work for a corporation that knows most punters are just there for the golf.
