I've used TDA for a long time. I give them 3 out of 5 stars because they are pretty much useless for speed trading, or anything under 5 minute trades. Then, their price execution for market orders can... See more

Worst brokerage out there.customer…
Worst brokerage out there.customer service is terrible. I wanted to open a new account and it took me 2 months .They kept requesting documents again and again even though I submitted them everything at once.
They don't have any protocols and don't know what they are doing
I have TD Ameritrade stock account for…
I have TD Ameritrade stock account for several years. When I wrote a check to transfer some money out, the check got rejected. I talked to 3 different TD Ameritrade customer support representatives and they all told me that the check got cleared on the TD Ameritrade side. I finally found out from my bank that the check was rejected due to my signature by TD Ameritrade and I got charged with bounded check fee. I called TD Ameritrade back and they told me their banking department doesn't reach out before rejecting the check and there's nothing they can do. I'm very disappointed that they're not addressing this gap in their procedure to improve customers experience.

Terrible customer service. Signed up for an account in February, was told that it would take 6 weeks. It is now April, and they've only just started the process of getting my account opened, after sending multiple messages to them. They requested documents, which I promptly gave. No news, and then 3 weeks later, I receive an email, telling me to upload the documents myself on the site. Meanwhile, there is no way I can do so on the site, the tabs they tell me to use are greyed out. There's been so much to and fro and completely unhelpful service, I've just signed up for other trading companies. I'd rather pay any commission than rely on TD Ameritrade to deliver.

Very hard to get your money back from TD. Highly recommend wells Fargo.
UK tax residents need not apply
TD Ameritrade is promoted across the internet, including its own website, as a company that serves international investors. So I opened an account with them while a US tax payer. However, when I told them I was becoming a UK tax payer, they said I could no longer trade with them, and would need to close my accounts. This included my US IRA (pension) account. They also said that their restricted country list isn't even available publicly. Unbelievable.
Great trading platform
Great trading platform, powerful desktop platform included. Wish they had crypto trading.
TD Ameritrade is the worst platform for…
TD Ameritrade is the worst platform for day trading you will never fill your order between Bid and Ask unless is a loosing position. To enter a trade you can do it only if you accept a price higher than the Market order price, and the same if you want to exit a trade you need a price higher than the market order to loose most of your gains. Their Bid and Ask price is the same like any other platforms except you will never get filled between Bid and Ask price at TD Ameritrade because they are running a Market order only entry and exit scam where you will loose most of your account, TD Ameritrade is a predatory broker. Look only for brokers that will fill your order between Bid and Ask when the trend is going in your direction if you want to make money. Also curency trading is bad in TD Ameritrade they offer only few currencies, and if you want to buy or sell a curency for example GBP/NZD when you look better you just bought GBP/JPY without any warning that is going in a different direction and is a loosing trade, that bad can be.
Poor Communication and Service
Tried to call and email my dedicated Account Specialist. No longer there. Went through 15 minutes of holds and transfers before I got some answers. Schwab you are doing awful job again. Just terrible. Stay away and look at switching brokerages.
Many shortcomings
TDA customer for the better part of a decade. Many shortcomings, the biggest being customer service. Similar to my experience at fidelity, customer service is taught to deny any wrongdoing on the part of the broker and blame issues on current market conditions or certain external factors involving the clients side, even if it is a software issue or glitch. Aside from this, the level 2 is really bad, the platform is dated, and they don't offer premarket or after hours scanning. If you are brand new and need a simple broker, this may be for you. Otherwise if you have real money and need to know you're going to get good service, look elsewhere.
Horrible Experiences
First of all, I am a novice at investing and this may not be the right firm for a beginner to start.
The first issue was funding my new account. I used an ACH, and the money was taken out of my bank account immediately but took 4 days before I was able to use it on the Ameritrade site. We are not talking about tens of thousands of dollars that may require some extra layers of verification, it was $300. With existing technology, when a business can take money instantly from your bank account when you use a debit card or even pay by paper check, there is no excuse for an ACH taking 4 days. Of all businesses, an investment company should understand the importance of time, when a few minutes can make the difference between a gain and a loss. 4 days is unacceptable.
The second issue was trying to purchase stock. Again, I am a novice so may have done something wrong, but placed an order, confirmed the order, put a limit in a little higher than the current price. Waited 2 hours, order was not filled. Then the stock shot up.
I thought that maybe there was a long delay for some reason or that I did something wrong. So I canceled the order, re-read the directions and placed an order for a different stock around noon central time. The stock price did not move all day but the order was not filled and self-canceled when the market closed. I have no idea why the transaction did not go through.
I am done here. Wish I would have read all the bad reviews before wasting a week.

Over an hour on hold for Customer Service? No local branches. All I need to do is change the phone number on record so I can recover my forgotten password. Can't wait to move my positions to a real brokerage.
I use TD Ameritrade for lower cost…
I use TD Ameritrade for lower cost stocks. I haven't had any problems depositing funds through bank transfers or mobile check deposits. I've had no problems buying or selling stocks. To be fair to the other reviewers here, I haven't attempted any withdrawls or had a need to contact constomer service but so far I'm happy with the site and will continue to use it.
Awful
No branches, 90 min wait times on hold, no chat, no call back option.
I wish I could give 0 stars

RMD for 2021 in my IRA is totally wrong. Over 1 hour wait for customer service. Horrible service. Me and 5 other fiends thinking of moving over 2 million in fund to another trading service. Bad company
Twenty first century
Twenty first century! The customer service of largest trading platform in the world, and apparently the leadership of this company sucks! Instead of keeping and expanding the users, they decided is better to treat them with third world countries customer service with waiting 90 min to talk to someone. (Not even during heavy trading hours).
So disappointing! Tos is great! Leadership of Td Americans, not so much.
Please get you act together before endless traders will leve!
This company is shady
This company is shady, glitchy, slow transacting, and biased towards institutional investors. They don't allow a full premarket so they can give the institutional investors a head start. During premarket they are constantly zeroing out random stocks to start their trading day. I see no method here. And the percentage of increase and dollar value increase throughout the day is not base on opening price but rather the previous days closing price. A stock can be up since opening but negative from yesterday's close and show as negative. This is a huge deal if you are a value investor looking for depressed stocks. This has surely hurt my returns. I spoke to Charlie Willis from Southern Texas office on the phone and he suggested that I take my business elsewhere. So I will. I was firm and direct but not rude nor disrespectful. Webull isn't perfect but preferable to this shady cabal. I half expect the jerk will try to close my account without my permission. Somebody at TD please listen to this call and start operating for the retail investors. The big guys have all the advantages to start. S Gill called in on the evening of 02/23/21 and spoke to three people. The first didn't know that closing price was used, the second seemed to figure it on the fly and tried to blame it on regulation and was condescending and the third guy who said he was a manager was combative. Both 2 and three suggested I go elsewhere.
This is the worst trading platform…
This is the worst trading platform ever. Their customer service just hing up on me after wtg an hour and a half for someone to answer the phone. I have been dealing with the issue for 3 weeks now. They have flagged my account as fraud and told me it’s under investigation, but cannot tell me why. I have received 4 letters from them regarding my account details and my approval for options trading, but at the same time they are telling me my account has been blocked and under investigation. I have access to the account through think or swim but they are saying the account is under fraud investigation, i was able to change the password with a code that was sent to my phone all the while the account is under some fraud investigation! And now after wrg an hour and a half and finally getting someone on the phone who is just parroting the statement that my account is under investigation with no reason as to why or when i can expect for the case to be resolved, i asked to speak to a manager and he told me the manager could not help me to leave my number and the fraud dept would get back to me. I told them to let their manager know that they have a upset customer on the phone and that i have been dealing with this for weeks and that i wanted to talk to someone now and they hung up the phone on me!!!!!
Bad customer service.
The biggest problem with all these places now a days is the fact that when you press 1 for English you get someone who barely speaks and CANT understand what your saying cause their brain just can't comprehend simple English and Questions. You may aswell hire all supervisor and management because other foreign workers don't help anyone. I had to go make a app to go into a bank for open the account and I had to tell the worker how to do his job....not happy ..on top of that it all could of been done from the comfort of my home. Just like scotiabank does. Start hiring Canadians!!!
TD fail on simple task
TD fails repeatedly to process my withdrawal transactions when my funds supposedly are available for withdrawal. I am moving on to Fidelity.
thanks for wasting my time
they don't accept a lot of countries although they give you the choice to choose these forbidden countries so please don't give me the blocked counters to choose in the application so you guys don't pretend you didn't receive my fax.
