Fraudulent company - stealing money that is not theirs!

I am owed over £1600 in overpaid tax from HMRC but on checking my account, I discovered that in June 23, you fraudulently signed a letter on my behalf, got hold of my NI number and then had the money sent to yourselves without my knowledge!

I have made a formal complaint to HMRC for allowing this to happen and have reported you to Action Fraud.

I notice that on other reviews you give the money back but take a 30% cut - this will not be happening as this is my money and I have never given permission for you to accept the payment!

Hi Tia,
We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your experience with TaxHelper.

We unfortunately were unable to take your call the day before yesterday as it was received after business hours.

However, we have now responded to your email, confirming that you have an account registered with us and that you have submitted two claims through our service.

When submitting a claim via a tax refund service, you assign the agent as the nominee for any tax refund that has been successfully facilitated. This is the situation in your case.

On July 18th, we sent you an email confirming that HMRC has approved our claim, as well as outlining the subsequent process. This includes details such as it usually takes 2-3 weeks for us to receive the cheque after HMRC has released it.
As of now, we have not yet received it, but we will contact you immediately once we do.

But I can see that you are already in correspondence with our customer success team, and they will handle your inquiry from there.

Best regards,
Aske Buemann

We wish you a great day.

Do not bother! Waste of time. They took 80% of the claim.

Do not bother!

I spent the best part of an hour filling out my claim backdating a few years for the claim estimate to be at around £300-400.

I got a letter from gov stating that I was owed £51.73 and that they would be paying TaxHelper to pay me.

Funnily enough I got an email from Tax Helper stating that they will send me £11.73 and they will keep the £40 for themselves.

So they are taking around 80% of the claim basically.

Completely pathetic, waste of time and I was led to believe I would claim a lot more than they managed to for me.

Hi Mr. P Johnston,

We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your experience with TaxHelper.
We understand that you may be disappointed with the outcome of your claim and the amount of your tax refund.
We would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points and address your concerns.

Firstly, it is important to note that the claim estimate provided by TaxHelper is just an estimate based on the information you provided.
The final calculation and decision regarding the amount of your tax refund are determined by HMRC.
We, as a tax assistance service, have no influence over the size of the tax refund you receive.

Furthermore, we would like to emphasize that our pricing structure is clearly stated on our platform. As mentioned, our fee for the service is 35% of the tax refund amount.
However, we do have a minimum fee of £40 to cover the costs associated with processing and managing your claim. This information is provided to ensure transparency and to set clear expectations for our customers.

We understand that receiving a smaller refund than anticipated can be disappointing. However, we would like to assure you that our goal is to assist you in claiming any tax refund you may be entitled to based on the information provided to us.
We always strive to provide accurate estimates, but the final determination rests with HMRC.

We apologize if there was any confusion or if your expectations were not met.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our customer support team, and we will be happy to assist you.

Hi Jonathan,
We're sorry to hear that you're not happy with our service.

We understand that you've been in contact with us multiple times through chat and email, and we have made it a priority to respond to you within one day and provide you with detailed explanations throughout the process.

It is important to note that the release of your tax refund is dependent on us receiving the cheque from HMRC. Until we have the cheque in our possession, we are unable to process the payment to you.
We have consistently communicated the necessary timeline and explained the steps involved on several occasions.

We are pleased to inform you that we were able to meet the expected timeline, and your tax refund has been successfully transferred within the anticipated timeframe.
We want to acknowledge that the duration it takes for the cheque to reach us after being sent by HMRC is beyond our control, resulting in a waiting period.

We understand the frustration this can cause, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you.
Moreover, we want to emphasize that our pricing is explicitly presented on our platform.

We take full responsibility for maintaining transparency and ensuring that our customers are fully informed about the fees associated with our services. Please be aware that it is customary for us to charge for the work we carry out if you choose to utilize our service.

If there's anything else we can do to assist you or if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Hi Sheri,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your tax refund.
We understand the frustration that you are experiencing and would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.

As we have informed you, it can take up to 21 days for us to receive the cheque from HMRC, once it has been released (which typically takes 14 days).
Please rest assured that we will process your refund as soon as we receive the cheque from HMRC.

Once we have received the cheque, we need to process it and deposit it in our bank so that it can be cleared before we pay it out to you via bank transfer.
This process is clearly stated on our platform and we encourage you to visit www.taxhelper.io/process for more information.

Unfortunately, we cannot pay out the amount before we receive the cheque. However, we will process your refund as quickly as possible once we have received the cheque from HMRC.

We understand that you have been trying to contact us via phone, but we apologize for not being able to answer your call.
We have promptly responded to your email. If you still require further assistance and would prefer a call back, please let us know.

Thank you for choosing TaxHelper, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to process your refund as quickly as possible.

Have a great day.

Polite company but AVOID

I read trust pilot before doing this to see if it’s a scam.

I have been waiting since Nov 2022 - 5 months - and I still haven’t received a cheque which should total approximately £500 (after they have taken their cut).

I contacted HMRC who reported the money has been sent out…

The team were really good at replying to emails and do reply politely but since I’ve become more concerned, I haven’t heard anything.

Would avoid and use YouTube / online guides to fill the forms out yourself. So disappointed.

UPDATE:

Email was sent as described by company below. However over 48 hours later and no money has been received despite details on the system being correct. What a farce.

Hi,
We are sorry to hear about your recent experience with our service. We appreciate your feedback and would like to address your concerns.

Firstly, we would like to clarify that if you received a refund cheque from HMRC, it is likely because you have used our platform to make a claim for a tax refund.
As stated on our platform, we charge a fee for our service, which is why you have received an invoice.

Furthermore, it is important to note that in some cases, HMRC may send different replies to claims for different tax years. It is possible that you received a refund cheque for one or more of the tax years, but there may be another verdict on your claim for other years, such as owing HMRC money or not being due a tax refund.

We would be happy to investigate this matter further to ensure that everything has been processed correctly. However, we are unable to locate your details in our system as you have not provided us with any information.
If you could provide us with your account details or contact our customer support team at support@taxhelper.io, we will be more than happy to look into this for you and resolve any outstanding issues.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and want to assure you that we take all customer feedback seriously.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to hear from you soon.

Have a great day.

Review updated from companies response

I started the process back in June or July last year, 8 weeks later i was advised that my details didn’t match with what HM revenues had so I changed them in order to get this sorted!
Claim was accepted and cheque was sent to tax helper on the 1st November 2022 however tax helper stated they didn’t have it I called the HM revenue and they advised they would need to cancel cheque and this could take another 14 weeks to which tax helper then agreed to cancel their involvement to allow HM revenue to sent cheque direct to me, I have now received a letter today from HM revenue advising that the cheque was cashed on 15th November 2022! Seems this company promotes a fast service but is not correct not to mention there clearly scamming people of their money.

***As per the response you offered to wipe your charges when you stated 4 times that you had not received the cheque, how can you miss communicate with your accounts department 4 times?
Please don’t be fooled those reading this answer like they have compensated me in any way by denying receiving a cheque that they had in fact received and cashed as miscommunication, I personally feel that they thought HM revenue wouldn't investigate as thorough as they did and would have sent me another check for my refund as well as the one cashed in by tax helper.
Poor service and poor company - do not recommend

Hi Hayley,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in receiving your tax refund. After investigating the matter, we have discovered that there was a miscommunication with our accountant, and your refund cheque was indeed received and processed by us. However, due to an oversight, we failed to inform you of the status of your refund in a timely manner.

We understand that this has caused frustration and inconvenience for you, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. It was an honest mistake on our part, and we take full responsibility for the oversight. We have taken steps to rectify the situation and ensure that such errors do not occur in the future.

We are pleased to inform you that your refund has been processed, and we will be transferring the funds directly to your account today, as per your request. We have also cancelled our fee as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience you have experienced.

£374 rebate - Excellent service!

Had attempted to contact HRMC in the past via letter to no avail - never received a reply never mind a rebate.
Cautiously looked into Taxhelper. Was not overly optimistic, but thought it couldn’t hurt giving it a try.
Today I received £374 into my account! The process is simple, and from application to receiving my rebate it took about a month.
Recommending this to all my friends! It’s money I would never of had, so I’m very thankful for this service!

Confused outcome

received an email from Tax Helper stating that the HMRC has turned down my claim for a tax refund. A few days later, I then received a letter from the HMRC stating i was owed a refund from 2021 to 2022 and have sent out a cheque addressed to Tax Helper Ltd. I never received my refund!

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry about the confusion.

We sometimes experience that HMRC rejects the claims for some tax years and inform us of that first, and then later accepts the claim in other years. I believe this is what happened in this case, and I apologise that it wasn't made clear enough in the communication to you.

Nevertheless, if HMRC has issued a cheque, we will receive it and make a payout to you as soon as we get it. We have unfortunately experienced some delays lately due to Royal Mail strikes, so we hope for your patience in the meantime.

If you have any other feedback, then you are very welcome to reach out to us on support@taxhelper.io.

Hi Gayle,

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you initially received the wrong amount, although you later received the remainder. This was completely our fault and based on human error.

We try to state the 30% price several places, so it's transparrent what our service costs. I'll be sure to take your feedback forward with the team, to see if we can make it even more clear.

Nevertheless, I can see you still got a nice payout that you otherwise wouldn't have gotten, so I hope that is a bit of a consolation:)
