Japanese-style dinner for 7 plus one gluten-free guest.

Joanna was an incredible chef and her assistant Glen was attentive, super helpful, and made the night an absolute success. Joanna was quick to reply to messages when we were organizing the menu, she thoughtfully made our gluten-free guest their own dishes that honestly made some of the other guests jealous by how good the food looked. They arrived on time, were quick to set up and get started, tailored their service and timing to our guests and by the end of the night the kitchen was spotless and the trash was taken out. I could not recommend them enough!

Chef Layla was an amazing chef. I hired her for my daughter and son-in-laws joint birthdays. The experience was amazing, from the wonderful smells in the house to delicious food. Just a great interaction with the entire family.

Booking Chef Lucky for our combined bachelorette/bachelor party was the best decision we made! He prepared a four-course dinner for our group of 6 and every detail was well thought out. He came on time and was very prepared. Every dish was an absolute masterpiece and came out hot. We had Jameson BBQ braised pork rib strips, roasted butternut squash soup, filet mignon and vanilla crème brûlée. The ribs were fall off the bone and so tender. The soup was home made from scratch and very flavorful. The steak cut like butter and he made a unique potato puck to accompany it with a crispy outside and smooth inside. He nailed the crème brûlée and it was presented with a type of strawberry cut on top like a work of art. He completely elevated the celebration and allowed us to just relax, sip our drinks, and enjoy the night without worrying about cooking or cleaning. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an unforgettable private dining experience!

Elana and her assistant Natalia were absolutely phenomenal! The food was amazing. They were punctual, fun and incredible talented chefs. We loved every moment of our meal. Such innovative dishes. We can't wait to have them again!

Chef Latipha was incredible! And the food was absolutely delicious! We used her for a Welcome Dinner while on vacation to Barbados. The kitchen in our AirBnB was limited, but she kept calm and made it work. We are absolutely hiring her again!

We hired Chef Dino and Chef Sarah to prepare a private dinner for my mom’s 60th birthday celebration at our Airbnb, and it was truly one of the best decisions we could have made for such a special milestone.

From the very beginning, Chef Dino was incredibly responsive, thoughtful, professional, timely, and clean. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted for the evening and curated a menu that felt both elevated and deeply personal. Communication leading up to the event was seamless, and everything was executed perfectly the night of. We didn’t have to lift a finger, just show up and enjoy.

Every single dish was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with intention and care. His experience winning Season 8 of MasterChef truly came to light through the creativity and quality of each course. More importantly, Chef Dino created an experience that made my mom feel so celebrated and loved. He turned her birthday into a night that none of us will ever forget.

Chef Dino and Chef Sarah were an absolute pleasure to have in our space and brought such warmth and positive energy into the evening. We truly couldn’t recommend them more highly. If you are looking for a private chef experience that is flawless from start to finish, they are simply perfect.

Ritianne was fantastic. Easy to communicate with and very responsive. She prepared a 5 course meal for our party of four. It's was a surprise for my wife's birthday and everything was exceptional. Service, food, wine, clean up were all top notch. Really can't say enough good things about her. We have had many private chefs and she was at the top

Chef Victoria was amazing. We are still dreaming and drooling over the food. She is the best chef I have ever had. If I could take her every where with me to cook all my meals I would. Everybody raved about the food. Everyone was thoroughly impressed. She does a great job with dietary needs and accommodations. She worked with me on the menu to get me exactly what I needed. She cooked some of the best seafood I am my guests have ever had. Most of them said they didn’t like seafood until they had her food. I can’t say enough good things. If you are thinking about her pick her. She is the best. I’m so happy I went with her. She makes the best rum cake you have ever had and I have had it in the Caribbean. She cooks gluten free and you would never know it was gluten free. Everything we had was dairy and gluten free and you would have never known that.

We had such a great evening with Chef Nikos! The food was excellent and the wine pairing executed perfectly. He adapted to our rythme very well throughout the night and had many laugh with us. He adapted the menu well for 5 friends celebrating a special day after la long day of skiing. I strongly recommend Nikos to anyone, simply a great person and an equally great chef!

Chef Jorge Sanabria is an amazing Chef and provides a 5-Michelin star service. Each course got better and better. I am still craving some of his meals from my event on Saturday. Thanks

We booked Chef Elisabeth Den Boer through Take a Chef for a Valentine’s dinner at home and the whole experience exceeded expectations from start to finish.

Communication beforehand was clear and thoughtful — she tailored the menu to our preferences and handled all dietary considerations effortlessly. On the day, she arrived fully prepared, was warm and professional, and instantly made the evening feel special without ever being intrusive.

The food itself was outstanding. Each of the four courses was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavour — restaurant-quality but with the comfort of being at home. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that went into every detail. She also explained each dish which added a lovely personal touch to the experience.

She left the kitchen spotless afterwards, which honestly felt like magic after such a refined meal.

If you’re considering a private chef experience, I would highly recommend Elisabeth — she turned our Valentine’s evening into a memorable occasion and we would absolutely book her again.

I can not rate the company really as all we did through them was get in contact with a couple of chefs. But I do give a resounding 5 STARS to chef JEANCARLO PEREZ!!
For Valentines day I wanted something different so 'Chef" put together an amazing 5 course lunch for my wife and I which include Lamb as the main.
He was well pre-prepared and allowed us to sit nearby and watch the master at work. He was personable, not at all haughty, and shared valuable insights with my wife who loves the kitchen as well.

Extremely disappointing private chef experience
We hired Chef Jessica to cater a private dinner at our home for our 25th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply unprofessional and the food quality was extremely poor.
She was scheduled to arrive at 10:00 to begin preparation. At 10:11, she messaged to say she would be there “in a few minutes”; however, she only arrived at 10:40. I waited for 30 minutes before leaving for a meeting, which I had communicated in advance.
Upon my return, she did not greet or introduce herself to me. She also failed to greet or introduce herself to our guests at the table, even after being invited to do so.
Throughout the event, she repeatedly mentioned that she had another appointment in Pretoria at 4pm and needed to rush off. This was inappropriate for a pre-booked private anniversary dinner and was clearly reflected in the rushed service, lack of attention, and poor execution.
Service and food were very disappointing: • Despite being instructed to use the plates already set on the table for plating, this was ignored.
• Appetisers were unacceptable:
– A single meatball served cold, very dry, and excessively chilli-heavy.
– A prawn crostini served on hard, stale bread, despite being toasted.
• Starters were average and lacked refinement.
• The main course (beef fillet) was dry, tough, sinewy, with a gummy glaze. Vegetables were average and the carrot purée was lumpy and poorly executed.
• Dessert was a chocolate mousse with extremely poor presentation, entirely unsuitable for a milestone celebration.
Both chefs had to be repeatedly told to clear dirty plates after each course, which should never need prompting and was very unprofessional.
Although kitchen clean-up was part of the agreement, she instead relied on my domestic helper to wash and clean, which was not agreed upon.
This was a terrible experience with genuinely poor food and service. I would not recommend this chef for any special occasion, particularly an important milestone event.

Chef Santiago Matias Romero hosted our elevated BBQ experience! Everything was sensational. His communication and flexibility with the menu was great. The taste, quality and presentation of the food was excellent. And to top it all off, our kitchen left sparkling clean. If you want a memorable night with fantastic food I highly recommend you book Chef Santiago Matias Romero. Thank you Chef, we will no doubt hire (and see) you again.
