incompetence

Repair of my 8x25 took more than a month after which I had to inform repair service about my current whereabouts in order to have my binoculars returned.
That was more than two weeks ago and seemed to cause confusion with the staff. They don't read, comprehend, respond timely, nor keep promises). For an entire week now a had announced my readiness to receive my binos back, reaffirming calls, today I was promised to be informed when binos would finally be send.- NOTHING
As result I will not be able to take them on my birding holiday.
Also repair should have been covered by warranty but somehow they made me pay 180 Euro.
Overall a simply TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
I sort of regret I bought their 14-35 ST Balance recently as I do not wish to reward incompetence.

El 12X50 binoculars developed an internal rattle sent in for repair in late November I’ve called numerous times and they couldn’t locate my binoculars. Now they have them located and a tentative date of shipping April 5th 6 months for a repair is absolutely unexceptionable along with the 120 fee to warranty even though it was internal manufacture defect, terrible quality all my Swarovski glass is for sale!

I purchased a pair of 12 x 42 EL and…

I purchased a pair of 12 x 42 EL and spent $3800 . I spent 2 days, seriously, trying to complete a very simple task of attaching the strap! The pin you have to twist in has no knurling to grab! It’s the most ridiculous thing in all my engineering life, I have ever seen! After 3-4 days I got one in but I did not have any skin left to try! So I brought them to the local dealer! 4 men tried for one hour and the 4th finally got it! Now I just received the harness pack and I can’t get the pins out! Swarovski should be ashamed of messing up on such a simple task. Why the pin was designed to have 1/16” of an inch to grab makes absolutely no sense!

Also the harness was designed to fit my binoculars! However if Swarovski is selling a forehead rest it seems the harness would be able to accommodate! It doesn’t! If you back the forehead rest all the way down the lid can be forced shut but it’s tight! Again it’s quite obvious that Swarovski forgot about that! The forehead rest is great when it’s set and you pick up binoculars to your eyes but if you’re using the harness the beauty is gone because you have to reset the rest every time you take the binoculars out of the harness! Pitiful!!
No excuses here just simply ridiculous!
I love my binoculars but I didn’t expect to pay $3800 and work my tail off just to use them!

I may send them all the way back just to let them take the pin out and attach the binoculars to harness straps!

I called tech support and HE obviously wants to humiliate you as an idiot! Nevermind I have pulled wrenches and screwdrivers my entire life! I was insulted! I’d have paid a lot of money for that smart pants to be sitting in front of me with that attitude! Seriously cocky and obvious he doesn’t like his job!

Be prepared to put up with an attitude in tech support!

Binocular straps unfittable with average strength

I purchased new expensive (nearly £2000) Swarovski binoculars (through Clifton Cameras).
When I tried to fit the straps I simply couldn’t do the last step in the instructions, even when I watched an online video.
I discovered later on the internet that this is a known difficulty, with people finding the instructions misleading and needing exceptional manual dexterity and strength to do it.
However the customer support at Clifton Cameras had no information from Swarovski on this and suggested that this might be a fault (after taking me yet again through the video).
Luckily I have a daughter who has strength and manual dexterity, and so I went to her house and she finally managed. It wasn’t easy for her. She was worried that the fitting might break if she exerted the pressure which eventually proved necessary.
I’d describe my strength and manual dexterity as average, and I definitely couldn’t do it. We both have excellent cognitive skills and can only conclude that the design is poor, and both the instructions and the video are misleading.
Swarovski need to improve the design, and meanwhile get companies selling the binoculars to warn of the issue and update the instructions, telling people they may well need help with the fittings.

Basically I like the optics of…

Basically I like the optics of Swarovski - but what triggers my bad temper and only giving one star is the service of the company.
I handed in my scope for service mid February with instructions of fixing the light tower on my Z6i and at the same time installing a ballistic turret as this needs to be done at the factory. When handing in my scope I was told that the process would be approx 1 month so in good time before the spring hunting season. 3,5 months later - after several contacts to my local dealer - the scope was finally back from Austria (missing the opening days of spring hunting). But the amazing (=terrible) company of Swarovski had forgotten to install the ballistic turret. To be fair the light tower was fixed but no ballistic turret.
The scope was then returned again to Austria to get the final installations done - again with a message of approx 1 month. Now almost three months later I have still not received back my scope and now autumn hunting season is opening.
The most incompetent service for both missing the order and a terrible handling time……. and the scopes are not bloody cheap so it seems even more crazy that the scope is sitting somewhere where I cannot use it.

I have no hesitation in writing this…

I have no hesitation in writing this review. None, whatsoever...

I have been using Swarovski binoculars and spotting scopes now for over 20yrs and I have never had a problem. Not one. Ever. Up until a couple of weeks ago when I fell over carrying my scope (STX 95mm) and the twist out eye relief piece was damaged beyond repair.

I contacted Swarovski optics to ask how/where I could purchase a replacement? I was emailed back by Cornelia - very promptly - who said 'let me know the serial number of the actual eye piece body and we will send you one out Free of Charge.'

I emailed back to say how kind that was, but...it wasn't Swarovski's fault I fell over and I was more than happy to pay! Once again, I was emailed back and told it wasn't a problem and they would be happy to do this.

Three days later, I got the replacement. I fell over. It was entirely my fault. Nothing to do with Swarovski at all.

What a company.

People say 'too expensive'.

Let's do the maths. I purchased a pair of binoculars (8.5x42) in 2002. I still have them. They are in perfect working order. My son uses them now. They cost around £1600.

1600÷23 years = £70/year
70÷ 365 = 20p/day

For the best optics money can buy.

I will never buy anything else. Ever.

Fantastic customer service

Fantastic customer service. My 5yo CL 8x25 had lost the rubber ring on the eye cup. Checked the parts manual and this is only sold as a complete eye cup. I explained this to customer service and that I was happy to pay for a couple of rubber rings. They came back to me straight away with a complimentary pair of complete eye cups. Very kind of them to do this. A response like that breeds brand loyalty and my next set of Bins will be Swarowski without a doubt. Thank you.

Simply outstanding customer service and product!

I cannot speak highly enough of the customer service that I have received from Swarovski Optic, Surrey,UK.

I had returned a 14 year old pair of binoculars for servicing, which unfortunately became lost in return transit.
The replacement binoculars provided (I was given 3 options!) were more than I could have expected in that they were a superior optic in an 'as new' condition; with all accessories and box which appeared to be unused. Moreover, at the suggestion of one of the two equally professional and helpful ladies who were assisting me (not mine), the existing 6 year warranty was extended to 10 years. And just for good measure, a free cleaning kit was included to compensate me for being 'patient'.
The binoculars themselves (NL Pure) are, in my humble opinion, the best binoculars available to date.
Superb company.Superb product.Superb customer service and assistance.
Thank you.
