I had a terrible experience with Surrey…

I had a terrible experience with Surrey Inventory Services. I had used Lisa to carry out the check in and check out of my tenants previously. For the first tenant there were no problems. When the second tenant checked out, Lisa carried out the inventory and without my permission left the property taking all my keys with her. The property was empty for a week therefore I had planned to be there. Due to lisa taking the keys this was not possible. When she was contacted that same day by my real estate agent, instead of doing the right thing and returning the keys to me immediately, she said she would return them in a few days when it was convenient for her. This was completely unacceptable as she should not have taken them. When I spoke to Lisa there was no apology, just a defensive response saying that the estate agent had given her permission. Then to add to this infuriating experience, during the check out Lisa failed to complete a thorough check (which is the whole point of hiring an inventory specialist) she missed major staining to my sofa cushions, damage to my plantation shutters and damaged bathroom tiles. Due to her inventory being incorrect upon check out, I issued the deposit. When I discovered all of this damage it was too late to deduct from the deposit. When I contacted Lisa to discuss this, she was defensive and did not want to acknowledge her mistake. I will not be using Surrey Inventory Services in the future and would not recommend them if you want a full, thorough and detailed inventory. Lisa made too many mistakes and missed severe damage caused by the tenants. They also state that they meet the tenants at check in and check out. Lisa only did this when I requested it and didn't seem too happy to go around with the tenant. Once again the check in was not thorough as the tenant sent a full list of things that Lisa had missed! Do not waste your money using this company.
