Stripe is a great platform for analysis and payment data management, however it lacks customer service and care about how to help its customers. We were unexpectedly booted off due to policy changes... See more

I would give this a zero, if I had the option. So I'm one of the cat sitters, who is a victim of the merger between Cat in a Flat and Rover.com.
A complete farce from the beginning. No help available either. So I received an email from Stripe saying I need to complete some tasks, which is then won't allow me to log in. It is is not recognising my login details, which were completely correct and worked before. It won't allow me to use photo id and when I try to take a photo it's just not allowing it.
Due to this merger, which many people are very concerned and dissatisfied with, I now have cat sitting jobs that I probably won't be paid for.

I am sharing a serious issue we are currently facing with Stripe.
We are a Canadian startup offering digital study materials for actuarial exams. Shortly after our first sales, Stripe suddenly suspended our account and is withholding approximately $4,000 in payouts for 120 days, claiming our business is “high risk.”
We previously filed a complaint, which was closed without any meaningful response or resolution. We have now opened a new case and are requesting a proper manual review by the Risk/Compliance team.
While we understand the need for risk management, this decision appears excessive and unjustified in our situation. Our business is fully transparent: digital products, instant delivery, identifiable customers, a public website, a clear refund policy, and supporting documentation available.
For a newly launched company, freezing 100% of funds for 120 days is extremely damaging and places unnecessary pressure on operations.
At this stage, the lack of communication and resolution is the most concerning aspect of this experience.

We generate £200,000 annually the past 3 years with projections for this to double in the next 2 years. We wanted to stay with them thanks to their very good Apple / Google pay integration. We thought it would be a good opportunity to negotiate our prices as we were still on the 1.5% + 20p rate for startups. They informed us they recently changed their terms and they only start to negotiate once we have earned £1.2m. Note: They discovered another business of ours had a turnover of £1.1m. This is clearly pure greed. We therefore reached out to Square who have negotiated a fee of 0.91% + 3p (straight 0.91% for in-person sales) and we are now in talks to fully implement Apple / Google pay with our ticketing and QR code ordering system developers due end of next month. We have since moved to Square Processing.

This is what drives contractors crazy! Absolute nonsense. I tried to join ThumbTack to generate sales leads for my business. To setup direct deposit, you have to enter your legal business name and EIN number. I have done that 5 times and it still says i'm incorrect!!! Don't you think I know my legal business name and EIN number?? So , since I can't get direct deposit done, I'm going to delete my account with ThumbTack! Way to think this through!!! Idiots

Kept a payout in pending for way too long without telling me why it was not going through. Support was poor had to contact them 2/3 times to get query resolved, support is based in India. If you can use a different payment processor, I've head bad things form other people as well.

For those evaluating payment systems in 2026, I would strongly advise against using Stripe. While they may have been a competitive option years ago due to their integrations, this is no longer a unique advantage. Today, there are numerous alternatives that offer significantly better security. The risk of fraud on the Stripe platform is extremely high, and I urge any potential user to consider other options. To protect your business, it would be wise to avoid this service at all costs.

Stripe are thieves they will close your account and take all funds in account without speaking with owner of account! They will refund all clients payments without any discussions or clarity and simply send auto replies! This is a disaster of a company and I would avoid by any means unless you want to get ROBBED!
Stripe = Thieves!

Very helpful and responsive. Their staff was constantly updating me during the process of activating Alipay & Wechat Pay on my online store. Felt like they genuinely wanted to solve the issue and help me out.

Stripe is at the bottom of the barrel, and a very ROTTEN apple to boot! Essentialy NO CUSTOMER SERVICE is available from this "strange' company... No transparency, incredibly long hold times on one's money!... It's mind-boggling that so many companies utilize Stripe's financial services! Are global fin-tech options so incredibly limited that one of our only choices is stripe ( I can't even capitalize the "s")! Pathetic!

A hugely frustrating experience to try and get logged on, verified and into my dashboard to verify a payment as I received no email confirmation for payment. I will never use this service again.

0 stars would be more appropriate here I've had a nightmare when my Samsung mb device had an automatic update and bricked my device had to buy a new one which also meant all my secure logins where within old handset. Stripe making it super awkward for me to even change my password due to out of date passport which I know in the UK is still legal id anyway 130 emails bk and forth for over a week with same response even though I'm asking for them to allow my new device same SIM to receive an authentication code as even the authentication code app won't allow me to access my account therefore their system is not handling anything correctly they have my clients funds within my account and all I'm trying to do is login nothing else is changing or will be changed except the password to enable me to continue my business as usual. They also do not have empathy or even reply with speed no they take more than 16hrs per email sent with evidence it's clearly me and I need assistance asap. All I require is my clients funds to be transferred asap and then I'd like to terminate all business with them full stop as no call centre no real personal help when all this is not my fault it was a Samsung handset download which bricked my life costing me time and money in many other areas of life and yet all other companies have been fabulously helpful and kind yet stripe nope making me wait days for replies and then replies are the same. When clearly it's simple add and SMS authentication code to be sent and unlock my account to enable a new password to be sent. The story goes on here as this is just the tip of the iceberg in how I'm being treated it's a joke their system is wrong not me and I'm at a loss now.

We used to LOVE stripe but over the years it's gotten worse and worse. We have had multiple horrendous experiences with Stripe due to customer service. Initially they were a fantastic company where you could get ahold of someone who actually spoke English. Now we are forced to only talk to folks who read off a script and are told to deny customers any form of service by directing them to articles about why you're wrong and they're right.
We have lost thousands of dollars in disputes and fraudulent charges due to Stripe's late / poor security AI that has not caught, or caught way too late, multiple fraudulent transactions.
Their response to us was it's actually the banks' fault and our fault for not asking customers if they're scammers. This is not a joke and actually what customer service said, multiple times with multiple different support reps.
Even after trying to get ahold of anyone in management we just get the same call center folks that copy and paste the script answers to us or verbally read the same script. They refuse to let us speak to anyone past the call center level and after you get off the phone, they send you a snipe email about what articles we should have followed and ultimately it's our fault for not catching scammers via their own processing portal with zero red flags noted.
Stripe is easy to code with and is pretty straight forward, but as they've grown, they've gutted their customer service team and outsourced all overseas to call centers. They've become excellent at denying any support and will gaslight you on their own failed security system.
They will always respond with "We'd love to help you, here's a link" but it's all a publicity stunt and you will be denied any proper care regardless. Just look at all the reviews left here.

The experience with Stripe is Outstanding. They have a chat where you can request for a Live Agent, HUMAN TO SPEAK WITH! And the Customer Service or Technician calls you within 3 minutes. They are patient, communicative and very knowledgeable. True professionals. Thank you Stripe!
