Rudeness and lack of empathy towards a disabled customer.

About 6.15pm this evening, I went into Asda in Perth (Dunkeld Road) to the customer service desk area to return a disabled badge wallet holder to Amazon. I was standing at the counter in the area where the customers can exit from the store after going through the checkout areas. When she asked what I was wanting, I looked up the QR code on my phone and had the item I was returning in my hand. The Asda employee told me I wasn’t standing at the desk (which was actually about a metre away from me) as she pointed to the lowered part of the counter and then indicated I should walk round to that precise spot. She indicated two directions I could walk around to get to the ‘desk’. After walking around 50 metres I got to the spot she wanted me to be at then she scanned the QR code, printed off a barcode and attached it to the item and put it into a sack. This action took approximately 1 minute. I then asked her why she couldn’t have carried this out at the location I was at 1 metre away and she stated “that’s not the desk”. I informed her that I was disabled and that having to walk the extra distance had increased my pain but she did not appear interested nor did she apologise. I asked to speak to a manager who arrived within a few minutes. I explained what had happened and the manager reiterated that the area where I initially had been standing was not the desk and that if I’d been served there, everyone would stand there and that part of the counter was very cluttered. I again explained that I was disabled and that the extra distance I had to walk had caused me additional physical pain. At this point, the initial employee stated “I didn’t know you were disabled. You don’t look disabled”. I was completely shocked at her rude statement as well as her displaying a complete lack of empathy, lack of disability awareness and with her tone toward me making me feel she disbelieved me. I have never been so angry at how I was treated and I certainly did not feel valued as a customer or even as a human being. Not all disabilities are visually evident but I can assure you that the pain I have in both knees, my lower back, my left arm, shoulder and left hand side of my neck is very real and difficult to tolerate and manage. I believe the original employee needs to go through some sort of disability awareness training and perhaps with the abysmal level of her customer service, she should not be working on the “desk” which is designed to provide CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

In the asda cafe.....rubbish

In the asda cafe...... ordered chips, sausage, egg and baked beans.
First impressions- tables dirty from previous users, had to ask for table to be cleaned.
Portion size was good but the sausages were not edible!! Hard at both ends..... probably left over from breakfast. Cutlery???? Designed for children only, felt as though I was using a knife and fork made for the borrowers!
Condiments available were salt and pepper, vinegar kept under the counter and had to be requested.

Rude and Dismissive Staff at Asda Cribbs Causeway — Sadly Reflects Recent BBC Reports on Declining Customer Experience

I had a very disappointing experience at the Asda Cribbs Causeway store and, based on how I was treated, I certainly won’t be shopping at Asda again.

I visited the customer service desk to return a brand new toaster that had been given to me as a gift. The toaster is faulty — it doesn’t automatically stop, which could potentially be a fire risk — so I expected at least a reasonable conversation about how this could be resolved.

Instead, the attitude of the staff at the customer service desk was shockingly poor. Both members of staff were rude, dismissive and completely uninterested in helping. There was no attempt to listen properly or show any understanding of the situation. The response was essentially “there’s nothing we can do,” delivered in a blunt and unhelpful way.

The toaster had been purchased by an elderly relative who lives a long way from the store, so I asked whether a scanned copy of the receipt could be accepted. While I understand that stores have policies, the complete lack of flexibility — and more importantly the lack of basic courtesy — was the real issue. The staff made it clear that it was simply “tough luck”.

As a result, the only options now are to travel over 200 miles to collect the original receipt or risk having it sent through the post.

Customer service is not just about policies — it’s about how customers are treated. In this case the attitude was dismissive and unhelpful from start to finish.

Reading recent reports in the media about Asda struggling with customer experience and store standards, including a recent article on the BBC, sadly this experience seems to reflect those wider concerns.

Poor Service Experience at Asda Blantyre

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Asda Blantyre. My order was left on hold for almost two hours and was then cancelled without any clear explanation. This caused significant inconvenience and frustration.

As a result of this experience, I have decided not to use this service again. I also attempted to leave a review through the appropriate channel but was unable to do so, so I am sharing my feedback here instead.

I would not even give them 1 star if…

I would not even give them 1 star if that was the option. Recently in fact bought a 32 inch Scoville pot from local Asda on 30/12/24. First use the lid smashed whilst on gas. Took a picture for evidence and took it back to store for a replacement. First of all I was treated like I was lying, they made me feel so little and accused me of bringing an old lid with a new pot. Totally refused to believe me. I was dealt by 3 members of staff before the manager came. She was a horrible woman and said “ no I’m not giving you anything, this pot doesn’t go with this lid”. She pointed to the remain of my cooking on the rims of the lid. I showed her the evidence why the lid wasn’t washed and the pot was. Still she refused and told me to take the pot back as it was and she will discard the shattered glass from the lid. I refused to bring it back. She said “listen we’re not keeping this here, you have to take it back”. So rude and disrespectful staff working at Asda Cemetery Road Bradford. Will never go back to Asda in my life ever again. There was so many people around and she made me feel so little.

Great customer service!

I went to the Asda store at Bristol Cribbs Causeway this morning as I wanted to organise the printing of a photo on to a birthday cake. I asked a young chap called Brett if he could assist me and he was most helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Just wanted to give him a shout out as I find customer service lacking these days and everyone seems too busy to help customers.

Where's all the stock gone ?

I regularly go into ASDA as its in walking distance but always has empty shelves - Its no wonder Asda are not making the profit it should - it's called supply and demand. I constantly see empty shelves with whole swaths of nothing-ness - So it's not rocket science - Asda can't supply it and we can't buy it = lower profits and a poor service experience! Our local Asda, and I see so many comments about other stores nationwide are in a similar situation - is there an underlying issue why Asda cannot keep shelves topped up ? Its sad I don't want to see Asda disappear or reduce their operations but it appears they have not got a grasp of the situation.

Bristol Pharmacy

Just awful. The slowness, customer service, lack of communication (they don’t answer the phone) is really unprofessional and not appropriate for delivering a service linked to people’s health on behalf of the NHS. Asda should quit dispensing.

Also tried the store number- recorded message.
Website - no useful information.
National number- no relevant options.

Asda's Try Me, Love Me Policy not worth the paper it's written on!

Asda's Try Me, Love Me Company Policy is a pathetic attempt to encourage shoppers to purchase their less than acceptable (that's putting it mildly) goods. In brief I bought six pizzas, cooked two and put four in the freezer. They were both rank and the dough tasted as if it had freezer burn so naturally I looked for a sell/best by date, which initially I didn't find (it had been covered by a printed store label). I spotted the Try Me, Love Me guarantee and called Head Office where 'Naeem' told me to take them back to the Wheatley, Oxford store and get a full refund plus six replacement pizzas. I took them back, but the Store manager 'Allen' refused to allow his staff to fulfil the Head Office instruction. When asked why I was told 'we need the pizzas in the boxes'. I said HO specifically told me NOT to bring them back, the outers will be sufficient. In short I went home got the pizzas, put the remains of the cooked ones in two boxes, took the four out of our freezer and returned the opened boxes to the Store (I wonder if they put them back on the shelf?). Still they wouldn't allow the refund and replacement for stinking goods. I was there for over two hours demanding my rights as per the TMLM offer and HO statement and was attracting attention from other shoppers and the so called security guy who effectively tried to draw me into a more serious situation by saying "don't be abusive to my staff" and to which I responded to him also. He actually aggravated the matter and said he saw me on cctv "flailing my arms about looking threatening, he's a liar". I challenged him to produce the cctv footage where he would see I had a shopping bag in my left hand at all times and the pizzas in my right hand holding them against my chest. Of course there would have been a period where I was holding nothing but the bag having handed them to Customer Services (that's another joke) what service? In the end and because they could see I wasn't going to give in the Duty Night Manager arrived (it was day when I started). We went through it all again and I suggested she call HO (conveniently she couldn't get through) however, she eventually said it's okay, I have been told to give you a refund and replacement, which I accepted and then wrote to HO about their inadequate services, rank pizza's and waiting a month for a response. Nothing arrived so I went via Resolver who delivered my complaint within minutes and got a response from HO. It reads as follows: "As part of our Try Me Love Me policy, you can return any Asda branded product you’re not 100% happy with for a full refund and a replacement. Simply take the packaging (not the contents) to our Customer Service desk next time you visit our store, and we’ll sort this out for you."
"The only issue I can see is you have 6 items you took back in one go which is why the store may have refused in the first instance. We will not refuse this unless the store are within their rights to think someone may be abusing the policy".
"I will however pass the feedback on the store manager. If you could provide me with your email address I can send out a £10 gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately anything more that that would not be possible".
So there it is dear friends, but I ask why bother to shop at ASDA when they treat you like this? As far as I am concerned they can stick their derisory £10 where the sun doesn't shine and the TRY ME, LOVE ME Policy isn't worth a light!
The original letter to their HO contains a lot more information, but I have shortened it to write herein. Lets hope the HO staff who were polite and informed can relay the same to the Store manager 'Allen' and some of his staff, who all deserve a dose of rank, freezer burn pizza and lessons in Customer Relations. My opinion: The sooner they knock the site down and build houses on it the better, because the shelves are lacking stock and some of the staff are very rude.

Scan and queue

For some considerable time their have been issues with the 'scan and go' system at the STEVENAGE store. One set of cradles at the end where most elderly people enter hasn't been operational for at least eighteen months. At the main entrance this time only one machine worked and the other machine simply showed an unhelpful message, which subsequently pronounced no handsets charged. The buzzer to call a member of staff had been removed!
All this after a massive campaign for about six weeks suggesting everyone should switch to 'scan and go'.
As if this wasn't enough, there were queues of shoppers waiting the use the 'scan and go' checkouts. One member of staff was trying to cope with checking bags when a 'quality check' message was shown (lol) while another shopper waited five minutes for a simple query to be sorted! Another shopper having a quality review tried to explain that there were two receipts because half of the shopping was for his mother.....and so it went on while the queue built up. At the same time a huge basket of used scanners lay in a basket on the floor ensuring the no scanners charged message was still flashing at the entrance. You couldn't make it up!

Asda Cribbs Causeway Bristol

Asda Cribbs Causeway Bristol: unstable customer following me around the aisles, being abusive, not wearing a mask and threatening to spit in my face. I approached staff and the apparent Asda ‘security’ and they reprimanded me for complaining. Didn’t feel safe there and will not shop at that asda again. It's worth paying extra somewhere else for a safe and hassle free environment.
