When I first joined it was an awesome group with some petty drama but this year a legal concern was brought to light and instead of addressing it they have been kicking out people who paid for membership for questioning what is happening. I'm very disappointed with the lack of leadership and accountability of the head of this business. All of the women leading and planning rides were volunteers who have been treated poorly just for being concerned about a legitimate legal issue that could personally affect them in a negative way. I paid a membership for 2 years in a row that got me access to free Facebook pages, chats, and a profile on a website plus a few small patches. Anne received the rest of that money and is making a large profit but can't be bothered to get insurance for her unpaid volunteers that do all the work. She couldn't even be bothered to put out a statement addressing the issue herself. She's been hiding and using others. I'm very disappointed at how quickly this organization or whatever it actually is has fallen apart with no real attempt to salvage it.

I have been riding for a little over a year and was interested in joining until I looked into the legal structure of this business. This is a for profit LLC, not a nonprofit, yet it uses volunteer officers to lead rides. Under federal law FLSA, for profit businesses cannot legally have volunteers because they are technically employees. This is a MAJOR RED FLAG. If an accident happens on a ride led by an unpaid volunteer worker, it gives insurance companies a loophole to deny a claim. Even worse, because this is not a nonprofit, those volunteers officers may not have federal liability protection and could be personally sued. Riders should definitely check with their insurance agents before signing up.
