We were delayed getting in to Holyhead…
We were delayed getting in to Holyhead due to high winds but have to compliment the staff on how they handled the situation.
Constant lies
Ref 05/02/2026 cancelled sailings constant lies!!
We rang stenna line and we was promised the 16.30 from Dublin to holyhead was sailing! Got to the gate and was promised again yeah definitely sailing. Checked in and watched the cars bein loaded at. 14.15pm and then watched some lorries bein pulled out of the queue to board the ship..then the ramps went up. Checked stenna line updates hey ho the 16.30 was cancelled
We knew this was coming due the boats bein in the wrong place.
We are in day cabs and no night heater and no bed!!
We feel you would of left us sitting on the tarmac freezing and hungry till 10pm till you loaded us. This is not the first time this has happened. You left us sitting on the tarmac from 1.30pm till 22.00pm no hot food no communication but loaded the cars again 4 hours prior to us bein loaded. We thought nope you getting us again freezing and taking the companies money!! We can't put it on boat mode as we have no bed in truck
I've had to sit at operation stack in cairnryan before Xmas becuase for 9 hours becuase stenna kept taking bookings knowing there was a massive back log at port. No hot food no hot drink no communication again
Obviously you ain't bothered about lorry drivers in day cabs except the passengers in cars you don't want them freezing would you!!
This is totally unacceptable customer service
How much is that doggy in the window? There isn’t one, it’s out on the freezing cold deck.
Had more chance of winning the lottery than getting a dog-friendly cabin on the dates we required so we took what we could; extremely limited availability.
Good facilities on the two crossings we had, the seating and layout would have been most enjoyable if we could have stayed together as a family. However, despite assurances that the vessel is dog-friendly, our dog was limited to our particularly small cabin and the outside deck. The Irish Sea during winter? Right.
We wanted to enjoy the facilities in the Premium Class area for which we’d paid extra for, however one of us was required to stay with our dog throughout the crossing. 8 hours or so when we couldn’t enjoy a single meal together as a family.
The facilities and the area within that section were quite nice but sitting on your own sampling them is not something that I either expected or wanted.
Is it not beyond the realm of possibility that dog owners could have a small, dog-friendly area for use so that crossing(s) are enjoyed together as a family rather than be separated in this way?
A special mention to Imogen and Evie on the way back; polite, friendly, helpful and professional at all times.
Took the Cairnryan back to Belfast…
Took the Cairnryan back to Belfast sailing yesterday 2nd January. It was a choppy sailing for sure. I travel the journey 4 times a year never an issue. But for some reason I took a real sickener. Anxiety went through the roof for some reason. Probably down to the heavy chops sailing. Which, was Mother Nature not Stenas doing. A lovely fella Christopher who worked in the office came out for 15 mins and had a good chat with me, told me all about the boat, the structure of it and how everything works. Said once we hit the mouth of the Lagan it’ll be plain sailing. He was never more correct. You’d swear you weren’t on a boat at all. I have to give that fella credit where it’s rightfully due, he’s an absolute gentleman and a credit to Stena line.
a great trip with darwin
i was on the belfast to ken ryan ferry and darwin made our experience great, he was so nice and made our experience better by finding us a place to sit when it was busy. he deserves a promotion
Never ever ever ever again.
Never ever ever ever again, I will write on a stone tablet and bury somewhere noticeable for the next life, I'd rather stuff my sausage in a blender than travel with this shower of excrement again. Good job they don't own a brewery as they'd screw that up too.
Late getting to Belfast, and then even later getting back to Liverpool, the lady on the tannoy said a slight delay, although maybe she needs to do a GCSE maths course again as 45 minutes isn't a slight delay.
If I'm asked to go on this ferry again I'm quitting my job on the spot.
Excellent ferry to NL and great restaurant
Travelled from Harwich to Hoek van Holland and checked in without problems and we left at 2200 as planned. Cabin for 3 adults 2 children was very smart and clean. Pizzas were fine and drinks well priced. My wife had a slight food allergy problem and they tried their best to modify the pasta dish which was great. Staff was so so nice and friendly. Arrived on time and left ferry without problems. I strongly recommend this ferry route
Patience and understanding would be…
Patience and understanding would be greatly enhanced if you gave the news early and HONEST. I left home at 5am from Tipperary, got to checkin at 8am for the 10.15 sailing, was only then informed of a delay of 3 hours, !! Finally departed Dublin at 3pm ish , as of now 22.00 we are still on board with very little information.. turns out it wasn’t weather related, we waited for Irish Ferries to overtake us and block our docking. The big announcement was a complementry meal for our troubles, at 8pm I went with voucher in hand to be offered cheap chicken nuggets and chips, only other options was a sandwich and warm chips,,, I’m disappointed and disgusted that Stenna would treat there guests in that way. I’ve been travelling some 18 hours and unable to buy a half decent meal, made the decision to overnight in a local hotel outside Holyhead at £80 , , not even Ryanair would stoop this low. I have been a loyal customer of Stenna for over 30 years, yep 30 and this is my thanks.
Delayed Ferry
Ferry was booked for 20.30pm. Received a message the day before explaining that it wouldn't be leaving until 22.15pm, which was fine, so I left for that time, but it didn't leave until 12.15am and by the time I received the update saying it was delayed further, I was already at the port. So sat around for over 3 hrs waiting. When we did finally board I was offered a £5 voucher, which was an insult considering we were delayed for over 4hrs in the end. I accept that weather can have an impact on sailings, but to be told it's an operational issue isn't acceptable. I will revert back to Irish Ferries for all future bookings regardless of the price.

Delays and Lack of Customer Service
Our ferry was due to leave at 8:15, it didn’t leave until after 10. As our trip was a day trip it was ruined. We asked to leave the ship but the customer service lady was hesitant to help and told us it would take 2 hours waiting in security, I am already 2 hours waiting in the boat. It’s a joke, I got stuck on a boat going nowhere as I had to automatically come directly home. Will be very hesitant to book again.

Adverse weather can cause problems I understand that. But the lack of communication when delays are happening are shocking.
The online travel updates are a joke. No way near accurate or upto date.
Stuck in queue for 6 hours with no personal updates. Pretty appalling customer service when things do go wrong.
Excellent journeys.
Outbound - calm overnight sailing, cabin with large porthole. Very comfortable. Good breakfast selection.
Inbound - day crossing in the Plus Lounge. Worth every penny! Very attentive staff and complimentary snack foods to help yourself. Dinner served where you sat. Spacious and quiet. Very clean cabin and throughout.
Each time I have travelled on Stena…
Each time I have travelled on Stena Line, service has been excellent. Efficient and effective. Each occasion the ferry was very quiet which probably helped matters but all the same happy with the cabin, lounges and facilities. Only thing I would say is the signage for car check in when driving in at Birkenhead could be better.

Going down hill come on stena sort your act out 😪 complimentary food is not nice and not fresh looks and tastes as tho it’s been left out !! And lack off !!!! Don’t feel no different even tho upgrade supposed to be priority embark n disembark ( no difference ) staff on check in need to concentrate on there job get the paper work right poor show 😪
Cairnryan carpark
Ferry has always been very good , and used to travel twice a month for the past 10 years, but recent years have limited our travel mostly due to the removal of the yearly carpark pass at Cairnryan port, now run by Horizon, was good to have a car in scotland for travel onwards ,unfortunate but someone is making more money i suppose
Stenaline is charging more for same service if using special offers
Eventhough I never accepted any newsletters I always are getting newsletters from stenaline. Lates newsletter promoted "Book savvy and save 25% on 2026 Sailings!". When I tried to enter the code it was not valid. I made a new booking (same dates cabins etc) but tired to go via the "special offer" header. This way the code was entered automatically. I noticed that doing it this way prices for same items beforehand are increased drastically. So for instance one way without special offer was 275, with special offer they are suddenly charging 315. Without code stenaline would have charged 790 going the way via the special offer header stenaline is charging horrendous 870. Is this already fraud?
Charged extra for their delays
Use their designated pick up point to await and pick up a passenger. The ferry arrived on time but there was a delay unloading which meant I overstayed the allowed time and got charged for your own delays.
