**Disappointing Experience with RV Rental**
We were really looking forward to our motorhome adventure, but unfortunately, the RV we rented did not live up to our expectations. For the price we paid, we expected a much higher quality of vehicle.
The RV was advertised as sleeping six, which it technically does. However, the layout makes it impractical to have six people in the vehicle while driving. Our biggest complaint was the lack of adequate air conditioning. On hot days, the back of the RV became uncomfortably warm since the AC vents do not extend that far back. This made for a miserable driving experience.
The overall condition of the RV was also a letdown. The vehicle seemed worn down, with several issues preventing us from fully utilizing its features. For example, the awning was unusable because the hooks to secure it were too loose.
The interior had seen better days, with old and dirty curtains that detracted from the ambiance. We were also surprised to find that dishwashing liquid was not supplied, despite there being dishes provided. This was an oversight that added to our inconvenience.
In conclusion, we feel that the RV was overpriced for its condition and the issues we encountered. We hope Backpacker Australia will address these problems to provide better experiences for future renters. As it stands, we would not recommend this particular vehicle.

The front staff members were brilliant.
The front staff members were brilliant. They did their best to accommodate the customers and check-in speedy. However they had no help, from what I could tell, from management or others staff members throughout the whole process.
We waited 2 1/2 hours to check in and drive out the gate as the van apparently hadn't been washed or detailed yet and the laundry was still in the drier. In saying that, the camper was still filthy. They also forgot to put in the outside table and chairs which was included in the price.

Unreliable, ruins your holiday
Van broke down twice in Litchfield National Park. No contact by the depot, had to attempt to take the vehicle back ourselves instead of a replacement being offered. When I raised a complaint, the response was woeful.
Do not hire.

Extreme dissatisfaction with StarRV Queenstown
I collected the motorhome on August 31, 2024, at 14:10. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the advertised luxury standards; the interior was outdated, and the engine made a troubling cranking noise. I requested a replacement because I needed to travel to Fox Glacier and use Arthur Pass to return to Christchurch, but my request was denied. While heading to Glenorchy, the desk fell to the floor, forcing me to drive back to StarRV Queenstown for repairs. My request for an exchange was once again rejected. The next morning, the motorhome displayed ABS and ESP warnings and advised a visit to a workshop. I returned to StarRV Queenstown and finally secured a replacement motorhome, but this process took until 12:48 pm, delaying my journey to Fox Glacier. This entire ordeal significantly disrupted my holiday and prevented me from enjoying the scenic route and attractions. I am deeply disappointed with the luxury motorhome provided by StarRV and am seeking compensation for the time lost and the impact on my holiday experience.

Lousy custumor service…
We rentend a camper in Sydney to drive to Melbourne in 5 days. Om day 3 the camper broke down due to engine failure and we had to be towed. We were sent from pillar to post by star RV customer service. Even told we had to arrange our own tow. Customerservice was unhelpfull and uncaring. We were stuck for 26 hours! Eventually, Jucy campers towed us and arranged alternative transport.
Conpensation offer frim Star RV was 250 aus$, which we did not accept.
What a lousy experience!

Older than expected but clean
The motorhome is much older than expected. Some things don't work properly. We had to change the motorhome as the check engine light was on in the first one.
One the positive side: The staff during check in was very friendly. We would leave a suitcase. The motorhome was clean.

- we were given our rented camper van 6 hours late scheduled time was 8:30am got it at 2:30pm reason was camper van was not cleaned( we were told this when we reached chch office to pick up )
- after dropping it back I got charged $250 cleaning fee from my saved card without notification for toilet not cleaned (we haven’t used toilets as it was used for storage throughout trip and we suspect cleaner didn’t clean it when we hired , I didn’t bother checking as we were not going to use it anyway)

Our experience was disappointing due to a lack of communication and insufficient service. We had a pick-up scheduled for 8:30 AM from the CHC airport branch, but upon arrival, we were informed that our van was not ready due to staff shortages. This should have been communicated to us before we arrived, especially since we had booked two vans for a total of nine people.
We agreed to pick up the vans at 12:30 PM, with the understanding that we would be informed if there were further delays. However, we received no updates and finally had to leave, only to have the vans handed over at 2:30 PM. This delay forced us to reschedule all of our bookings to stay on schedule.
Additionally, there were several issues with the vans. Despite booking two campervans, some of the complimentary items were missing, such as only one heater between the two vans, no cleaning supplies for the toilet or vessels, and no rubbish bags or bins.
The most disappointing aspect was the $250 cleaning fee charged to us. I have requested an explanation as we never used the cassette toilet, and the gray water tank was emptied on the last day of return. We hope to receive a satisfactory resolution regarding the unnecessary cleaning fees.

The communication internally in the company between the centralised call centre and the depots / service teams is incredibly poor. The staff are very disciplined in not sharing a specific phone number - EVERYTHING MUST GO THROUGH THE 1800 NUMBER. If I were to guess, I would say that is the first thing all employees are taught. Above all else. Not the customers, not the vans, just don't share a specific phone number. On the first day the bed didn't drop, so we slept on the floor, second day we took a gamble on booking a hotel (which they refunded), they gave us a fan heater with a cut cable, third night we slept on the floor. I will never book Star RV or JUCY Rentals again. And that incredibly happy hold voice gets super annoying when you call for the 5/6/7/8/9/10th time - ESPECIALLY when the person hangs up after being on hold for 40+ minutes.

Both RV and customer service not as it should be
RV had some issues and couldn't go a night without power. Costs us a lot of time and money during our trip.
On drop off they promised a reimbursement, but never got it. When I contacted them about is, they said they never promised.
Customer service is terrible.
