My train from London to Glasgow was cancelled on Monday evening due to Storm Floris. I emailed asking splitmyfare if I could use my ticket on another train. I then saw the train company had published guidance that tickets would be valid all day on Tuesday and planned to travel then. When I woke up in the morning splitmyfare had cancelled my ticket without me asking and without my consent. When I explained to them that I now didn’t have a valid ticket for travel they said they had ‘assumed’ that I had found another journey (even though all trains had been cancelled) and basically told me I had to book a new ticket (which was 4 times the price of my original advanced ticket). They are now ignoring my emails. I have been using the company for years and have always received good customer service so I am very disappointed. They have lost a customer for sure.

I can’t recommend the team at split my fare any more highly. After booking our trains one of our party had an accident and we had to cancel the visit. split my fare asked for proof of injury which we quickly sent across and the tickets were instantly refunded. Such a helpful team with great processes

Easy Money saving on train tickets and great customer service team.

Really easy to book tickets, always seems to find faster and cheaper roots than other platforms. Really easy to change advanced singles for a refund if booking the same journey at a different time. Great that they now send you calendar invites as well.

I have used split my fare for a few years now and have saved an unbelievable amount of money on train fares. I recently had cause to deal with their customer service department, which I found to be the best I have ever had to deal with. All replies were sent to me within 24 hours, and I dealt with the same person throughout the process. They sorted my query without any hassle, and I would thoroughly recommend them.

On a £25 normal off peak fare, SMF got 7 for me at £16.75 each, saving me a total of over £50. Brilliant, well done SMF

It was quick and easy, plus it saved me doing it myself

I split my fare from Cornwall to Glasgow. All times and changes where well set out. I had three changes with no complications. Change over time in Birmingham was a bit neat but after a sprint made it.

Trainline was £360, National Rail £234. Split My Fare for the same return journey, same trains was £80. Far better value.

I saved money for sure.
Also, there was an excellent alternative journey or route suggested, which I don't think I would have been informed of normally.

Exceptional customer service, which is also super fast. A big thank you to Richie, one of the team who kindly replied to me and helped sort out a refund for a journey that got cancelled. I have never received replies so fast, but they were also friendly and personal replies - not templates! Other companies could learn a lot from this! Thank you! Would definitely recommend.

Any business that is doing more for consumers battling extortionate train travel in the UK is a good business. Great customer service, that surpasses the train operators turn around times. Well done Split My Fare. Solid business. I will be returning.

I hadn't received an email confirmation for my recent purchase, so emailed Split My Fare in a slight panic. Within minutes, they replied asking for further information (I had assumed it was an automated response). Replying back with all the required information, I received another email saying that they had found my booking. It had bounced due to me giving an incorrect email address. Tickets were resent without hesitation. All done quickly and efficiently. I've always been a fan of Split My Fare. This has galvanised it further! Thank you, Richie for your efforts.

I booked split tickets through Split My Fare for a journey from Lancing to Oxford, following their itinerary exactly. Despite this, a ticket inspector deemed one leg of my journey invalid and I was issued a penalty fare. I appealed to Split My Fare, expecting support or at least an explanation. Instead, I was met with technical justifications about fare logic and restrictions that ignored the real-world impact of following their advice.
Even after Transport Focus intervened and highlighted how misleading the itinerary was, Split My Fare still refused to offer even a goodwill refund. It’s disappointing that a company built on helping passengers save money offers no help when their guidance leads to fines.
Be very cautious using this service – if something goes wrong, they will not take responsibility. You're on your own.
