Only put the 1 star as I can't put 0stars. No delivery. No communications. Abandon hope all who sail on the bad ship David Somerset. Shame really because the shaving oil was pretty good

I put in an order over a month ago, but nothing has arrived. I emailed them twice but they ignored both.
I gather that this is a problem experienced by many, which is sad because it's just dishonest.
I later found that my debit card had been hacked and over £800 had been spent on betting sites. Be warned.

Gone bust? Still taking money on its internet store: Here's what I'm finding - company defunct, original owner possibly a David Priaulx Collas, with Collco Trading Limited operating the business and website, who cannot be traced. Alive or dead? Company registration shows that, more recently, Olivia Adamson became a director on 1 February 2026, with PSC filings for Olivia Adamson on 17 February 2026 and for Christine Collas on 6 March 2026.

This is a obituary notice in honour of David Somerset who sold a great product at reasonable prices. The company website appears to have been taken over by criminals. Who collect your credit card details after taking your order and acknowledging it by email. In my case no money was taken from the initial oder but a stupid 37p attempt was made to test the card which was detected. I am now awaiting a replacement.
Whoever has the power should update the website to warn people of the situation or take it down.

I sent a letter by post & I had a very nice email reply. The reason that we have seen all these
bad reviews is that David has died after an illness . His daughter Olivia sent me the email saying the website is not working. Hope this helps.

A follow-up from my review of 13 February 2026. As per other people leaving reviews, I had a call from my credit card provider today warning me that there had been attempted fraudulent activity on my card, which I had used to place an abortive order mid January.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, SOMETHING HAS GONE BADLY WRONG HERE.

Similar to other people, I placed an order late in Dec, received a confirmation email but the product never arrived. I’ve been buying from Somersets directly for years so I gave it a good few weeks and nothing, sent them a few emails - no response, call their landline - the number is disconnected

The only conclusion is that the company doesn’t operate anymore - I think someone needs to take their website down otherwise more people will go through the same experience

As noted regarding orders placed recently my order last month was not delivered despite an acknowledgement email from the listed email address (no order number though ....). No reply to follow up email to that address. Like several other reviewers my credit card was compromised shortly afterwards. Great shame as like many others have ordered directly from Somerset's for years.

While fulfilment has always been a bit iffy, the company seems to have ceased operating. Order placed mid-December has not arrived over 5 weeks later. Phone number on website is no longer in operation. Seems a strange way to destroy customer loyalty built up over 15 years+

My friend and I ordered £30 each of oil and received nothing despite several e mails to the company and the owner.

Hi, My husband used Somerset for years, but has not received his latest order.

I have used this Somerset Oil for many years as the best shaving oil on the market. However my last order never arrived and I have had no response to my emails. heir phone number is no longer in use! Looks like I should have bought on Amazon rather than direct with thecompany, at least I would get my money back.

I placed an order at the end of August which never arrived. A week afterwards there was fraudulent activity on my credit card. This website is clearly not secure anymore - avoid, avoid, avoid.

Same as other recent posters - great service in the past but following an order I placed in October 2025 they seem to have gone to ground and are uncontactable. Also my card provider had to give me a new card with a new number following fraudulent activity detected on it after I used it on the Somerset’s website, my only non Apple Pay/Paypal use of the card for months.

My card was fraudulently used a few weeks after I tried to order from Somerset's.
I think it's highly likely it's related as the attempts were in the UK and I'm not. Their's was the only UK site I've ordered from with this card.
Had to block the card when I spotted the suspicious activity. Screwfixdirect's site allows online ordering without verification. :(
It's a shame, as I love their oil. Now I have to look for an alternative.

Ordering direct now seems to be impossible and not sure if their web-site has been compromised. I bought through 3rd party seller Dolphin Fitness as they have very good TrustPilot reviews. Stocked up on 4 of the larger bottles which should hopefully last me for a year or two. I had poor experience ordering from Amazon as was sent smaller size bottles than I paid for. Got quick refund but lost confidence in using Amazon to buy. Hopefully Somersets will sort out their current issues soon. I think it would be better for them to only sell from good 3rd party companies like Dolphin. I’ve had concerns for a long time about their online website with very poor payment security. They should stick to what they are best at which is making the best shaving oils on the market. Let others deal with the shipping logistics that hopefully that will help with fulfilling orders quickly and efficiently. It’s very annoying that the big companies like Gillette etc. have so much of the market where imo Somersets shaving oils are much better and use far less packaging.

Like others, I have been a customer for many years (20+).

Order has not arrived after almost a month. 3 emails unanswered. I looked here to see if others had the same problem and here we all are!

It's a small business as far I I know, that I have always been keen to support; I can understand and forgive illness emergency of course, but they do need to communicate.

I've been patient and waited almost a month.

I will never be back and I no longer recommend them.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Been using this company for several years without a problem. As previous reviews there is obviously a big problem. No order arrived, no emails answered and phone disconnected.
Have to mark it down as a loss.
However I did get from Amazon, they still have stock. Just had to pay again !!
Somersets need to be honest and stop taking orders if they are not fulfilling.
Do not buy from them direct, waste of time.
