Solar gain where brilliant. Phil was good at explaining everything during the quote process and answering my many follow up emails and he tailored the quote to us. Vanessa sorted out the booking process and made sure we got all the documentation we needed. Colin, Will and Lawrence were brilliant on install day. Got loads of work done and tidy up after themselves. All sorted in a day and up and running.

During the installation, everyone was polite and efficient despite doing the entire fit in the rain. The problems that arose were resolved promptly. We received support getting onto the app.
Perhaps more pertinently, they were completely unfazed by our flat roof installation (2 separate roofs)
and the quotation process was equally as quick and efficient.

Phil came around and gave a really decent quote and was genuinely knowledgeable. He answered all my follow up questions as there is a lot of information in the quote. I didn’t at any point feel under pressure, it was your classic sales pitch and for that I really respect him and Solar Gain. Thank you for being genuine, honest, decent and knowledgeable

Professional throughout from first contact to installation. Kept to agreed timeline of only two weeks with installation time of less than a day.

We chose a local family firm, SolarGain, run by Phil and Vanessa, to provide our solar panels. The site meeting was relaxed and advice on the technicalities was given without any pressure. A very neat solution of a 9 panel display in landscape format, maximising our south facing garage roof was the agreed arrangement.

The quote was prompt and lower than the other local firm, whom I had to chase for the quote, and a national company who gave a quote without a site visit. These companies recommended a mixed array of landscape and portrait panels, which looked untidy.

The installation began on time and on the agreed date. The 2 roofers’ initial work on the roof fittings appeared to be progressing well. It was not until the end of the day when the panels were fitted that it became apparent that the whole array was not central on the roof and was too close to one edge to be MCS compliant. The roofers had made a mistake!

Phil arrived, assessed the situation and resolved to rectify it. First thing the next day and working on his own, he removed the panels, all the fittings and made good the roof. He then replaced everything in its correct place and reassembled the array, nicely central on the roof and MCS compliant. It took him 12 hours, with hardly a break, remaining calm and cheerful throughout.

I have given a 5 star rating to Solar Gain as, even though a mistake was made, their immediate acceptance of responsibility, extremely positive helpful response, and genuine concern was exceptional. How things are dealt with when they go wrong is what really counts!

After obtaining three quotes Solar Gain were by far the most efficient and effective.
The personal technical explanations by Phil's visit and the quick and efficient emails and documentation from Vanessa has made the process so easy.
Colin, Andy and Ali fitted and installed the whole system yesterday. Again the very efficient, polite and very likeable crew were a pleasure to have on site.Coffees and pasties were the least we could offer them as they were full on from 8 am through to 6.30 pm.

Phil was recommended to me by my brother who has recently had his system installed. As Solargain is a local company they were able to actually visit my home to discuss what I want to achieve from my panels and battery, and advise how we could get the most out of them. I'm already saving money during the shortest days of the year, and it can only get better!
All of the people working on the fitting were very courteous and worked quickly.

After having PV panels, inverter and battery installed a year ago by Solar Gain we decided that we needed an additional battery to make full use of the very cheap electricity available from Octopus in the early hours of the morning. The best solution seemed to be the Gen3 5.12 unit. After checking it was compatible with the earlier Gen2 hardware we placed the order via Vanessa. Everything went smoothly and Colin arrived as planned. The installation and commissioning went exactly as planned and it’s great to benefit from the cheap battery energy and in the Summer we’ll be able to export at a high rate as well.
Vanessa has been efficient with the follow up paperwork and certification.

While researching Solar panels a friend recommended Solar Gain UK, so I thought one more quote can do no harm.. As it turned out they were the most professional and thorough of any of the companies I talked to. While not the cheapest they gave a much greater feeling of comfort so they got the business.

The install went exactly as described and took the two days allocated. However the battery supplied developed a problem shortly after install. After some investigation Solar Gain decided a replacement was required. This arrived promptly and the problems disappeared overnight.

The system designed charges from sunrise through to sunset and is saving us a lot of money even on dull winter days.

Cannot recommend more highly

Once I'd decided to install solar panels, I set out to get 3 quotes. 2 were from national companies, who quoted everything from photos of my property, and promised the earth in terms of what I could expect.

Phil was different. He came to the property and took time to find out what I wanted and what would work.

He patiently explained all that was involved, and gave a much more realistic (to my mind) expectation of what the system could generate.

So, 16 panels, a 5kW invertor, a 5kW battery and a 7kW EV charging point were duly installed in a surprisingly quick and efficient manner. The system works well and already, almost 1 month later, and even in Autumn going in to Winter, I'm saving money.

I have no hesitation in recommending Solar Gain to anybody.

Last year I made plans to scaffold, re-roof, repaint and install a solar system on my home.
Dealing with the average solar company was frustrating as the typical sales staff had limited technical knowledge and were intent on pushing off-the-shelf packages.
It was a great relief to find SolarGain who were keen to design and advise on an installation specifically for my situation. When it came to the installation, liaising with SolarGain was simple and straightforward and the coordination between them and the other contractors was seamless.
The work went ahead in March of this year and the quality of the work carried out by SolarGain was top class. The company closely supervised their work and established a great working relationship with the other contractors on site.
I have 24 panels divided between the east and west elevations of my house, together with a 5 kW inverter and two 9.5 kWh batteries. Since completion in March, the performance has been faultless and has exceeded my expectations.
I have kept in touch with Phil, Vanessa, and other members of staff at SolarGain and I am confident that should I need it, after sales service and maintenance are readily available.

We had had quotes from a number of providers all of which were just not feasible as they were for a flat roof for which we (not the providers) knew we’d need planning permission. Phil was different - he came out to our property and designed a bespoke system the likes of which I could never have imagined. We have solar panels and an array of batteries. All expertly installed.

So now 15 months on I can report that not only is the system operating seamlessly but the savings are out of this world. The predicted solar generation was spot on and the capacity of the batteries just right. I have paid no more than 7p kWh for all this time.

I know that Phil and company are always there in the background for an upgrade/add on/support which I’m seriously tempted with as such a successful attentive company is set for the duration. That’s very comforting in the tough solar works out there.

Our experience has been very good, great communication, not pushy, very helpful while we were making up our minds as to what we wanted to go for, explained things well, since installation any questions we have had have been answered promptly, installation went well, we had a bit of a software teething problem after installation which was quickly sorted the next day. We have had our system up and running for nearly 11 months and we are very pleased.

I had 16 solar panels, inverter, 5.12Kw battery and Solar iBoost fitted by Solar Gain in October.

Having initially sought a quote from Octopus (as my current energy supplier) I elected to go with Solar Gain as they were a local family business with good reviews and unlike many companies promoting solar online, provided a personal rather than an online service, were not at all pushy, responded and installed within a very short time frame. Their fixed quote was also competitive and they alerted me, post quotation, to an offer that GivEnergy were running which meant that with the saving this provided I was able to add the Solar iBoost for the same price as my original quote.

From the initial visit from Phil to discuss needs and carry out an initial survey, the detailed survey by Colin, the prompt handling of all the admin and documentation by Vanessa I was very impressed by the service they provided.

Our installation took place earlier than originally planned and despite a small inconvenience that related to the scaffolding company, the installation was completed in a day. The team were worked really hard, on what was a miserable day weatherwise.
The Battery and Inverter was an external set up and the work was done to a very hight standard and the hardware looks really good.

Colin then fitted the iBoost and commissioned the whole set up the following day; and I was up and running. The system has been running smoothly ever since.

Not had the best performance the last week or so but that is down to the miserable weather we have had so is not Solar Gain's fault!

We had three quotes for the solar panel installation. Phil’s was the most comprehensive and detailed, and his design seemed the most appropriate for our house. He made a site visit, unlike some companies who quote based on a satellite image, and the level of detail in the calculation of the expected performance of the system was most impressive. The work was carried out to a high standard and we are still very pleased with it.
