Unhelpful Policies for Expecting Parents
I recently had a very disappointing experience with Snuz’s customer service and return process.
We received a SnuzPod 4 as a gift from our baby registry. Before our baby even arrived, Snuz released the SnuzPod 5 — a significantly improved version with a feature that is essential for our small apartment: wheels. Since our original item was a gift, unused, and unopened, I contacted the company to request an exchange.
What I experienced instead was an unnecessarily difficult process.
Even though their team acknowledged my situation over the phone, they did not mention that my return would be treated as a “special exception” outside their policy, nor did they make this clear until later emails. They also insisted that I pay for return shipping — which cost $60 for a large, heavy box — despite the product being brand new and received as a gift specifically for our upcoming baby.
For a company that designs products for newborns, it is troubling that their return policy does not recognize the reality that most families receive registry gifts well before the baby arrives. Many parents simply cannot open, assemble, or test these items within a narrow 30-day window. Failing to offer reasonable flexibility around registry gifts feels like a serious oversight of their customer base.
Requiring new parents to pay such a high return shipping cost for an unopened registry item, while also declining to provide a return label, is extremely disappointing. The $60 fee is a significant percentage of the product’s price and should not fall on the recipient of a gift — especially when the company has just released a newer version days before the due date.
I ultimately paid the return shipping due to our rapidly approaching due date, but I am very unhappy with the experience. I intend to share this full experience on additional consumer review platforms so that other expecting families are aware of these policies and the lack of true accommodation for registry gifts.
