Smith Benedict dropped me as a client because their off‑plan insurance ran out. This forced me to pay £1,377 to move to another solicitor and redo all the paperwork from scratch.

None of this was my fault. The right thing to do would have been to refund any fees I had already paid, but no refund was offered. Instead, I was left with extra costs and wasted time.

Very disappointing service.

Evie Britton at Smith Benedict recently helped me to prepare papers for a Claim for Possession of a flat I own in St Albans. Three other legal firms I approached for help were only interested in selling me a complete package costing upwards of £1500. Evie, however, listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly the help I needed i.e. casting her expert eye over the paperwork I had done and just charging me for an hour of her time. At all times she was friendly, professional and extremely efficient as well as going the extra mile by preparing an expertly worded letter to go with the Claim for Possession form.

These delays were so severe that I had to personally request the developers to extend the timeline for exchanging contracts, causing unnecessary stress and uncertainty in an already complex process.

Despite being referred to them twice, I regret to say that the level of professionalism demonstrated falls far short of expectations. Communication was inadequate, with emails often going unanswered for days, if not weeks. Furthermore, the lack of attention to detail in verifying crucial documents reflects poorly on their competence and commitment to client satisfaction.
