Beware they charge a £300 non refundable deposit for a braces assessment where everywhere do it for free.
Receptionist is rude and I’ll never go back. At the time I was told it was to order the materials for braces and not told it was only for an assessment. I originally had a free assessment in newbridge then transferred to Abercynon so didn’t need another assessment but they done it again and changed £300.

Absolutely lovely team in Ystrad Mynach, receptionist are really helpful and Michael and his team are wonderful, very knowledgeable and soo friendly. I hope they receive the recognition they deserve

Absolutely disgusting service, I've been going to this dentist since the 1990s.. (Ystrad Mynach) they were recently taken over after Phil retired, and have gone down hill big time, I was struck off from missing one appointment without any warning letter.. absolutely disgusting and the woman's attitude on the phone to me was appalling.

I hate to leave a bad review as the girls are all really nice but honestly this whole experience has just been massively stressful and costly with zero outcome. The "free" consultation they offer isn't a real consultation, so I wasted cab fare. Second consultation I was slightly late then was refused to be seen. Then it was difficult to get an appointment all. Then they couldn't get me numb enough for the procedure despite having 5 injections, so they refused to do any work even though I was happy to continue. They said my only option was sedation which im not going to do for the sake of 3x fillings and I can't afford do more work than that in one go, so now im having to look for somewhere new at short notice and start this entire process again, which I can't even afford to do. I left in tears, it's my birthday next week and I wanted my smile sorted as im super self conscious. I could have just gone local and been seen quicker and just had the work done rather than waiting a long time to be seen to leave with nothing. I've spent a fortune in cab fare and then the consultation. And now I'm probably going to cancel my birthday plans as well as I really needed this done. Plus the temporary filling they gave me has mostly fallen out by the time ive got home, I'll probably now have to pay for an emergency dentist to get this sorted. Plus I just found out that the closest branch that DOES offer sedation is 2 hours away by public transport. What a joke.

I recently had dental treatment with Smart Smiles at their Ystrad Mynach Clinic. The staff, support staff, and dentists are all amazing and put me at ease from my very first appointment. I say put me at ease because for several years had had an irrational phobia of dental surgeries and so my first visit was going to be full of anxiety for me. I need not have been so concerned as all the staff was so friendly, and helpful yet with a good balance of professionalism, which gave me reassurance and the feeling I was a valued patient who was going to be looked after. Even after a few minutes of chatting with the reception staff, it felt like I was a regular visitor and had known them for months, they are so friendly. My allocated dentist Patrick had the same friendly yet professional approach and carried out some fantastic dental treatments on me which will have such a positive effect on my life. I am so pleased and so grateful that having searched extensively for good a dentist surgery I chose to book with Smartsmiles. After having such a positive experience, I would highly recommend Smart smiles to others looking for amazing dental treatment, and if you excuse the pun, service with a 'smile'. Thank you to everyone at Smartsmiles, Dentist Patrick you are amazing, thank you. Also, a thank you to dentist Charlie who took over one appointment for me.
