An immoral company

This company's systems, especially communication systems, are very poor. Rather than take any responsibility, they blame customers like me. I was also on the receiving end of a lot of "computer says no". I am not at all surprised to find that all other reviews to date are 1 star. I appreciate that people may not have a lot of options when it comes to student loan service companies, but I highly encourage you to avoid Sloan Servicing if at all possible. Dealing with them will take years off of your life!

Sloan barely deserves one star

Sloan barely deserves one star, but since two of the CSRs I've talked to were very nice and helpful, they get one and only one.

They've been frustrating me with their lack of communication and action since I first applied for IDR recertification in May, when my documents failed to upload correctly to the site. I didn't think to check to make sure it was there because the site isn't clear at all on where that would be (on the same upload documents page, you have to click an arrow next to previously submitted documents to see them). So I was technically, according to them, late when I realized what had happened and uploaded everything again on July 11. I got on the phone right afterwards and got completely different instructions on recertifying (the only thing anyone should ever do is go to the FSA website), promptly took all of the steps, then the emails started coming with, again, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONS on my income certification letter, which I had to send back to my boss to sign twice. Once I got that final bit of paperwork done, I called to confirm they could see all of my documents and it was moving on to review. This was on August 25th, and it is now October 5th and I can't even reach them on the phone to ask what they need from me now because it's Sunday. The temporary forbearance is almost over and I'm no closer to being recertified than I was back in April before I got the paperwork together that failed to upload properly. What's more, I am disabled and barely employed, living off of my retirement at 45 because I can't work. And you can't even reach a chatbot or send an email to Sloan, you have to call like it's 1980. And after each of my calls, it's like nothing happened. Now I'm panicking in addition to fuming.

It will be an interesting phone call tomorrow morning.

Sloan posted my payment late and I will be punished for it!

Sloan posted my payment late. As a consequence, I was “disqualified “ from my interest rate reduction and it increased by 2%. I have sent the payments from my Bill Pay in the same manner for years. I have records of at least a year and a half that show payments sent at same time and processed within a week. It took them 2 weeks for this payment and Sloan’s response is that “they cannot control the post office delivery. Well, neither can I. It has never taken the post office TWO weeks to deliver, not even at Christmas. They won’t go by a postmark date of when BIll Pay processed. In short, they have found a way to scam borrowers out of their interest rate reductions. They have said they will “file a complaint“ on my behalf. There is nothing else they can or will do. I waited 30 min to speak “with management “ because the agent could only read from her English script and kept telling me an inaccurate reason. That reason?…that I had switched from digital to print correspondence. ( I had made no such choice). Regardless, Sloan is going to increase my student loan interest because I don’t want to receive my info via email??!!?? Again, total scam. This is our government at work.

Payments not posting to account

I have 5 payments over the last 9 months that I have copies of endorsed checks by Sloan Servicing that are not posting to my account (>$10,000 missing) I have called multiple times and so far have been unsuccessful at resolving the issue. I keep getting told that someone will be reaching out to me (2-3 business days) after they have reviewed the information. Now 10 business days later still have not heard from anyone. I call again and get the same runaround. ("I will put a request in to have this reviewed". I then tell them that is what I was told the last time I called.) Unfortunately I see legal action in the future.

Inaccurate Credit Reporting

I called the number 8335975626 PO Box 87865 Lincoln, NE 68501and their phone line was not in service through the week. I tried later on in the week talked to a male for 30 minutes to defer my loan. My loan approved as deferred then days later they lied and placed delinquent on my credit report multiple times playing around with my credit file letting it decrease by 66 points as still delinquent. I called to complain and they never fixed it. They have false business practices and don't comply with the fair credit act by law.

EVERY SINGLE time I try to log in

EVERY SINGLE time I try to log in, EVERY TIME, it either times out or just sits there loading. I have to try two or three times to get into my account. This has been going on for more than a year. I should be able to access my account 24 hours a day every day except when in maintenance cycle. It's not user error. I've used a computer before. Get it together IT department. It should not be this difficult to access your site. I don't have any issues with any other sites like this.

Incorrect HTTPS certificate & Website Confusion

I get an https certificate error when trying to use the website:

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.

Websites prove their identity via certificates.

its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

I don't feel comfortable using this website because it's not configured correctly or is insecure or some other technical issue is happening.
