This app/website is handy for plenty of things. I commonly use it to make thumbnails/icons for my Roblox games.
My only complaint is that the pen tool does not work like I expected it to.
Other than that sketchpad is a great tool!
It's free, but the quality is severely lacking. After accidentally refreshing the page, I lost all 13 hours of progress, rendering my work disorganized and chaotic. The experience was frustrating and unreliable—definitely not something I would recommend. I won’t be using this again. It is so bad, I want to give it a zero, but that's not possible so I give it a ONE.
It has a lot of good tools and other stuff but when I make a group it disappears and I can’t get it back some times, I am just using it for fun but I might use it for school next semester when I have art, so I’m asking politely if you can fix it please.
Edit: and yes the other adalyn blotkamp is also me but I had to use my other email (this one) and I do plan to remove the other review when I get my other email working again.
When I'm drawing lines and different layers they glitch out when I click the redo button.
Edit: I did love how my art turned out but it took me way too long it took me 2 hours 0-0 because of the glitch.
I can't with this anymore. This app may be free, however it is full of issues. Aside from the others mentioned, every time I copy and paste something from another art of mine onto another, the art I copied and pasted from, gets DELETED. And all that's left, is what I copied. This is horrible. Hours of work lost.
I love using sketch.io as a mood board to see what fabric combinations to use to make one garment. It's amazing I can have many folders and that it is FREE. I would love it if I could use free hand drawing tool to cut things out etc. If there is a bit more functionality, i'd happily pay to use it. But even in it's current form it's very useful for me. I was using Milanote but ran out of space.
It's just fun and easy to use. IDK why people are hating this website because something apparently dosn't work. Layers work completely fine vector fill works MOST of the time and overall it just works. It does have a little bit of a learning curve though and it does break if you use it offline but runs really well. Probably not for mobile though, I use a school loaned chromebook anyways so it does seem to struggle when running on 16k but idk who would want that in the first place. I recommend being online, using at least a chromebook, make sure your on the most current version of the app/website and run at max 12k.
-Tip when using the path brush you can unmirror the handles by deleting one of the handles and pressing Ctrl z
-Tip DON'T click with 2 fingers on a handle it will delete the path you made and you can't get it back.
-Tip the shortcut for layers is "cltr [" for going back and "cltr ]" for going forward
I get that this thing is free, and I realize I shouldn't expect top notch performance from it, but this thing was just so bad. I mean, I would try to change colors, and mind you I had nothing selected, but random parts of my art would change to that color. Not only that, but little bits would just disappear if I closed out the tab then opened it again. On top of that, the fill tool doesn't look very good, as you'd have to do touch ups around the edges, kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. Then I had to go on a side quest to import reference photos. After that, I had the issue of duplicate objects being automatically grouped together and when I tried to ungroup them, guess what? More problems! Parts would be transported to different parts of the canvas, some even off it, and if that didn't happen the whole drawing would get moved. Overall, this site is absolutely trash, I don't recommend it, not even for just messing around.
Site crashed. Hope they either fix the website or just delete it. Use Canva or another program if possible.
I cannot believe that everything went right at first. I created a beautiful space scene and then when I tried to make a cupcake the freaking thing wouldn't do anything! The undo button never worked and The fill filled itself up to name a few. If I were you, I would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever use this stupid scam of an app. Not sorry to the 5 year old people who made this either. Get your act together!
i went to use the paint bucket tool and it would allow it whilst placing but then delete it when i placed it and it wouldn’t save, i have screen recorded it but idk how to put videos
I really dislike this program. The eraser is difficult to find and personally it would only allow you to select every other tool. Layers were not available and multiple times I made a mark by mistake and couldn't undo it. The bucket tool covered my line art and I was absolutely miserable the whole time I was drawing. Long story short, don't use this program!
I used to use this on a computer, but I definitely don't recommend this if you're on a mobile device. If you're on mobile, the layout will be confusing and there WILL be dots on your screen if you zoom in and out. Adding onto that, you may notice that the scroll wheel to get to the eraser is quite useless as it doesn't work properly on a tablet or a phone.
If you want to make layers on the program (on a computer), just select all of the lining and press the "flatten" option to create a "layer", and you can use the "forward" and "backward" layering options to color.
Great for beginners, but if you want to do digital art as a hobby or if you want to have a better layout, I'd recommend Firealpaca, IbisPaintX, Medibang Paint, and if you want a simple vector program I'd recommend Photoshop.
The program has many bugs in it, and I think it would be great if the program would be more compatible with mobile devices.
The layer system is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, but ok, I tried drawing and organizing my layers for a bit. Just by SELECTING it for some reason, some layers changed place on the canvas and trying to see what was wrong on that mess I went to the history section, just by clicking on an older version and looking at it COMPLETELY DELETED my newer versions.
Awesome! 0/10
Sketchpad.io is very good in some aspects. I am in love with all of the features and all. However, the most terrible thing always happens. There is this glitch where you cannot change colors, so, of course, you refresh, which cures the glitch. However, after that, your sketch comes out distorted. I am very angered with the website because I was using it to draw a book cover for my publication, and it glitched right as I had made sure everything looked wonderful. I took a screenshot before I refreshed just in case, but it did not save. My picture is so distorted that now I have to redraw it.
It was absolutely terrible, It wouldnt undo the right things and would just erase the board except for the thing I wanted gone. PLUS it would not let me zoom in and would glitch out every time I got on it. It doesnt even DESERVE a 1 star
Awful Program!!!! I was a long ways into a project when then it suddenly spazzes out, and I lose all ability to select anything. Leaving me without a way to continue. I tried everything to fix the issue, but nothing worked, and I wasted hours just to be sent back to square one.
It's terrible! The quality sucks and you can't erase!! It also adds random dots that aren't meant to be on the art. The eyedropper doesn't copy the color it just makes it darker and it just sucks! Don't recommend.
I would love to fully support this app and I have tried. My students consistetly lose their work. I have been attempting to use this app now for close to 5 years. It does what I need it to do, but the losing of work is making it impossible.
At first when I was searching for a digital platform to draw on I found sketch.io, I was THRILLED at first because everything was perfect and there weren't any issues. BUT over time (3 weeks) I began to notice problems, everytime I went to other tabs on my computer for drawing refences, and came back to sketchio It would crash. Sometimes it would crash on it's own, and when I tried to color in my drawings with the paint over feature the color would go away, I'm dissapointed with how this worked out honestly. I thought I found a useful platform but ig not.
