I am writing regarding when my friend…

I am writing regarding when my friend rented a car in Italy on 19/12. When she returned the car on 24/12, it was approved. Then they withdrew 9000 SEK from her bank account on March 6 and suddenly claim that they have found faults.

Avoid this company, we are very dissatisfied.

Very nice experience !

Renting a car from an agency often worries me. That wasn't the case at all with this agency, at Stockholm Arlanda airport ; everything was perfect! The person who greeted us at the reception desk was particularly warm and friendly. He even went out of his way to show us where the USB port was, hidden under the center armrest. ;) The experience was so excellent that I wanted to share it here.

One drawback, but it applies to all rental agencies at this airport: they're located at the far end of the airport, away from the terminals. You have to take the airport shuttle, which took us 45 minutes figuring out which shuttle to take from which location (the directions were rather unclear).

Back to the Sixt Agency : the vehicle was perfect, the price was very correct, and the return process was simple and well-organized (one reception desk per agency). A very good experience! I recommend them.

I booked a VW Tiguan and I got a dented…

I booked a VW Tiguan and I got a dented Volvo XC40. Fog light was broken and bumper had a hugh gap to the body from what looked like a significant parking accident. You could hear on the freeway that something was wrong with the frame from odd noise in the cabin. Was offered no compensation.

Sixt - Croatia

Don't fall for the scam!
Sixt Dubrovnik claimed the the prepaid full insurance I had from RentalCars.com not was valid.Not with Sixt! No insurance - No car.! Had to buy a new that costed more than the actual car. I later found out that my original insurance was valid. Shame on Sixt HK office that won't take responsibility

Customers should be warned!!!

Absolutely outrageous experience with Sixt. I rented a car in February, paid everything upfront including insurance, and months later out of nowhere they took 1,600 SEK from my account for a parking fine I was never even notified about. They never gave me the chance to pay it myself, then added an extra 500 SEK “administration fee” on top, which is nothing but a scam.

Even worse, I suddenly received an unexplained invoice for 3,400 SEK with no explanation. Their excuse? “Vacation periods” :) as if that justifies waiting 6/7 months before contacting a customer. This is beyond unprofessional and feels like pure fraud.

I accept responsibility for the actual parking fine, but the way Sixt hides information, delays communication, and piles on bogus fees is unacceptable.

Customers should be warned!!! this company will take money from your account months later without proper notice or proof. I will never use Sixt again, and I strongly recommend others stay away.

To the Worst Company

The actions you took with me were ridiculous, uncivilized, extremely bad, and completely unacceptable. You canceled my car reservation hours before my arrival, without my knowledge or prior notice, and in time to allow me to rent a car from a company that respects its name and its customers.
I was surprised when I arrived at your company's headquarters at Stockholm Airport,Arlanda at night to find that you had canceled my reservation, with no one I could speak to, and left me out in the open overnight without any means of transportation.

I will never tolerate this despicable act. I will take legal action against you and strongly respond on social media. I will explain my family's suffering and that of me, left in the cold at night without any convincing response from you.

Despite all this, you still haven't refunded my car reservation money. When will you do this, you idiots?

Damn you and your company.

Unexpected Damage Charge and Silent Support

I picked up my Sixt rental and noticed from the very start a noticeable scratch on the left side of the car. I pointed it out during the check-out process, but the agent seemed too rushed to note it properly. Fast forward to drop-off: I returned the vehicle in the same condition, expecting no surprises—only to receive an invoice days later demanding I pay for the “new” damage.

When I reached out to Sixt customer support for clarification, they dodged my questions entirely, offering no explanation or proof of when or how the damage was allegedly made. Their lack of transparency and unwillingness to discuss the matter left me feeling frustrated and unfairly charged. I wouldn’t recommend Sixt unless you’re okay with potential hidden fees and a silent support team.

⭐ 1/5 – Ongoing dispute with Sixt over unfair charges

🚨 I need to warn others about my bad experience with SIXT. Right now, I am in the process of disputing hidden fees, a forced car switch, and a questionable damage claim. Here’s what happened:

1️⃣ Given the wrong car – Despite booking my rental weeks in advance, I was given a muted (defective) car instead of what I reserved.
2️⃣ Forced to switch at another office – Sixt made me travel to another location to pick up a different car. No apology, no compensation, just wasted time.
3️⃣ Charged unfairly for their mistake! – After returning the car, I was surprised with an extra fee for moving the vehicle between offices, even though this was Sixt’s own error.
4️⃣ Mysterious damage charges – A day later, I received an unexpected bill for two damages, one of which was already documented BEFORE I got the car!
5️⃣ Confusing and unhelpful customer service – When I contacted them, their team had no idea what happened. At first, they tried to blame me for changing my insurance (which I didn’t). Eventually, they admitted it was a mistake, but the charge is still there.

⚠️ I am still waiting for Sixt to correct these unfair charges. I have formally disputed them and will update this review based on how they handle my case. However, based on my experience so far, I recommend that others be extremely cautious when renting from Sixt to avoid hidden fees and surprise charges.

🔴 I will escalate this to ARN, Konsumentverket, and my bank if they do not resolve it soon. I hope Sixt does the right thing and removes these unfair charges.

SCAM WARNING

SCAM WARNING! Want to warn against renting a car from Sixt.
We rented a car in Croatia, Zadar. Everything was pre-booked and ready. We arrived in the middle of the night and were just going to pick up the car. She then said that there is an additional insurance of a total of 30 euros, which she was very clear about. I stood by and heard everything. When we then came home from our trip and received the invoice, it was a shock. She had drawn the sum of 30 euros seven times!! And then the VAT was not even included. So she had cheated us of 250 euros. Which ended up costing the car more than round-trip plane tickets for four people. My partner travels a lot with work and often rents a car, but has never experienced anything like this. Of course, we have appealed this but have been totally ignored by Sixt. They refuse to correct the error

I was accused of damaging the car, but I have video proof, this is not so.

One star is already too much!

There are FOUR negative issues:

1) I have to agree, with all those people here, complaining about charges for scratches, which were already on the car before. It happened to me as well. I can prove my case, so we will see what they do, but they will have a hard time with me.

2) The pricing is far too high, but we had no other choice, as were already there, and we had to take it. I payed 5994 Krone, for 5 days, driving only 393 km.

3) They took a "safety deposit" from my debit card, because it is not a credit card. This money I still don't have back. Reason unspecified. No invoice, no document, nothing.

4) This last one is a very BAD complaint about the office in Stockholm in particular. At pick up there was a freezing cold wind outside in the morning. The shop was to open officially at 10:00 in the morning. I don't know why so late, but it's what they do. We were there already at 9:45 in the shivering cold outside. What do we see inside? People are already there. Relaxed, doing very little. They do not open the door, though the front desk is in fact a waiting room for customers. They let us wait in the cold wind outside. Even worse, the personel was in that CUSTOMER area, drinking coffee from the coffee machine which obviously there for customers. They should open at 8:00 if you ask me. Why do I have to waste half of my morning? Because that's what they force me to do.

I have my own company, but when I have an appointment with somebody at 10:00 and he arrives at 9:45, I would not let him stay in the cold outside, until it is 10:00, and show thought the window I drink my coffee first. This was the most unfriendly thing I have ever seen. My advise to Sixt: Change the management in this office.

Charged extra, after ONE YEAR with no consent!!!

Booked a car in Aug 2023. Returned, all fine. Paid everyhing. After ONE YEAR, today, thet AUTOMATICALLY took more money from my credit card!!! No prior notification, nothing. They modified the last year invoice and took more money, supposedly for "a toll tax". I don't know how they are allowed to store the CC details for such a long time and charge the card at their own discretion. I am pretty sure that the road tax are settled in maximum one month.
Beware THEY ARE STORING YOUR CREDIT CARD AND CHARGE IT AT THEIR OWN DISCRETION EVEN AFTER YEARS, without your prior consent for the amount.
I will press charges aginst them, of course as this is a major CC fraud. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT use them, if you value your money.
Never again, Sixt Sweeden!

Awful

Awful, horrible! I booked a car via Rentalcars and paying them I thought everything was well. But returning the car Sixt sent me an extra invoice saying that I must pay an extra 450£ So, never Sixt again. Beware!
