Communication with the company has been extremely disappointing. Promised timeframes were not respected, and emails remain unanswered.

The car itself was fine and the return process went smoothly no damages or issues were reported.
However, it is unacceptable and unprofessional that a deposit of €850 is held for up to 20 working days after returning the car.

This delay was never mentioned at booking or pick-up and is completely unreasonable. Most rental companies release deposits within a few days.

If the deposit is not refunded immediately after the 20 working days, we will take legal action and report the case publicly.
Simply Rent a Car should be more transparent about their deposit policy before charging customers.

I can only warn others about this car rental company. If you rent a car here, do NOT leave your deposit via credit card you’ll be waiting forever to get your money back….Very disappointing and absolutely not recommended!

Will ruin your holidays

Scamers! Stay away of this company! 🙏😭.
They wanted to charge 30€ per day of rental and 300€ cash only for their insurance despite us having booked our own insurance through the website.
I felt very unsafe and uncomfortable being around themthey were very rude as we did not understand the language and were not making any easier for us.
This is not the kind of company you want to come across when you are on holidays to have a good time.

Awful, never to be use. If you show up 59 minutes late they will cancel your reservation even if you let them know.

Never rent a car there !!

Never rent a car there !!!
The car rental company acted in a highly unprofessional manner. In order to receive the rental car, I was asked to pay an additional €160 for car insurance, even though the vehicle had already been booked and paid for online with full coverage included. I spent half an hour explaining to a staff member that I did not require any additional insurance, as I was already fully covered. Ultimately, my reservation was cancelled, and I was forced to arrange a rental with another provider. I did not receive a refund for the original booking.

Be very vigilant against the abusive practices of this company!

Very bad experience with this company! First, the pick-up was not done at the Port of Paros, but in a parking lot located 10 minutes away. Then, when returning the car, we were forced to pay exorbitant fees (818.40 euros) for a minor "damage" already present at the underbody... Finally, despite multiple reminders, no invoice or report was sent to us, preventing any coverage of the claim by the insurance... I therefore advise against it and urge you to be very vigilant against the abusive practices of this company!

Very great car , kind staff , very helpful they made great recommendations. The prices are ridiculously low which is amazing for the quality of the cars we are getting . I will definitely choose them again

I called simply at +00306948520204 regarding an unexpected charge of €850. I was told that someone would get back to me, but I haven't received any follow-up.
I returned the car to the office, where an employee checked it and confirmed that everything was in order , The blocked amount was refunded, and we received our money back. However, three days after returning to Sweden, I discovered that my account had been charged again for €850 without explanation. my booking D011265050

Shady Local Operation – Same Scam Happened to Others

ORIGINAL POST 18/07/25: I was unfortunate enough to be given a car with Simply Rent a Car in Paros after booking through Holiday Autos, who then subcontracted my booking three more times and I ended up with this poor excuse of a company.

My experience starts with being constantly hounded by telephone from representatives of Simply Rent a Car wondering where I was, when I had arranged to pick up at the port and my boat was late. They told me they only hold the booking for 30 minutes or charge it as a no show, which is ridiculous as I had paid for three days. With the majority of their bookings surely coming fresh off the boat, you would assume they would be used to tracking that information. This was just red flag number one.

There is no office, no card machine, no paperwork — just two guys handing over keys outside a pharmacy on a busy road. I was told to enter my card details into a random payment site on my phone for the deposit. None of this felt legitimate or transparent.

The car was also in an absolutely terrible state when I picked it up. It was a blue Renault Clio, which was completely covered in scratches, scrapes and dirt. As I was a bit thrown off by having to climb into the car to fill in my card details on a website I'd never seen before, my husband took photos of the car as best he could on a busy road with another car parked immediately in front.

When returning the car (to an abandoned industrial yard), we were told that we would have to be charged €680 for a small scuff to the front bumper — damage I did not cause, however we had no photographic proof. It would have been impossible to see on pick up as the car was already in poor condition, covered in scratches and dirt, and no inspection was done properly with the agent. The representative said this was in line with the terms on their website, a website which I now know states €350!

The sales agent tried to play the "good cop" and I was told the scratch would be charged but that I would "definitely get it back through insurance". Insurance, in fact, would not cover it as Simply Rent a Car's excess is €700. The cost of the damage being as close as it could possibly be to the mandatory excess is incredibly suspicious.

I’ve since contacted the company multiple times by email requesting:
Timestamped photos of the damaged area before and after hire
A final rental invoice
A repair invoice or cost breakdown

They have not responded to a single message.

I’ve since discovered that another customer left a Trustpilot review in July describing a nearly identical situation — charged almost the same amount, also without proof or response. This shows a clear pattern of extorting customers with no documentation and hoping people won’t challenge it.

I’ve escalated the matter to Greek consumer protection (EKPIZO) and a bank dispute is in progress. I strongly recommend avoiding this company — and I urge others to take photos of every part of the car if you’ve already booked with them.

EDIT 22/07/25: Interestingly, two glowing 5-star reviews have appeared shortly after I posted mine — each directly contradicting the specific issues I raised, even going so far as to name the same model. These users have only ever reviewed this one company. I’ll let others draw their own conclusions, but the timing is certainly notable.

Absolute Worst Car Rental Experience

I needed to post somewhere: Simply Car Rentals Paros: Absolutely the worst car rental experience of my life. SCAM from start to finish, dishonest and extremely stressful. They did not allow me to take a video recording of the car upon pick up because the pick up spot was extremely dangerous - a congested high-traffic single lane road, rather than a parking lot or garage. 2. They insisted that I take a video of the car at my AirBnB, which I did immediately upon my arrival there. In that video there is no license plate on the car. 3. They did not honor the video of the car with no plate, rather insisting that they would not have let me drive without a license plate and held me responsible for the license plate “falling off.”4. Despite my reluctance, I agreed to pay their exorbitant charge of 350€ to replace the license plate. They assured me that I would be reimbursed the remainder of my €500 Deposit. 5. Rather than receiving a partial refund of the warranty, I was charged the full deposit amount of 500€ . The full insurance that I purchased for the car does not cover license plate. All of it: Shameful. They played good cop/bad cop and every step of the way, the young agent told me "don't worry, it will be fine." "don't worry, the pick up point is too dangerous, take a video when you arrive at hotel." "don't worry, your insurance will cover the cost," "don't worry, the ferry leaves 5 minutes after departure time." All of it = BS. Cherry on top: After I agreed to pay 350 Eur for the license plate, I was told that I would be refunded the remainder of my warranty/deposit (150Eur.). Not so! Instead, I was charged the full amount of 500 Euros. Please head this warning: I will cross post on every site that I can: Do NOT use the booking agent Economy Car Rentals and NEVER use Simply Car Rentals in Greece. I almost always give 5 star reviews - for Simply Car Rentals, I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could!

Please avoid renting a car with SimplyRentaCar (also known as Wheego) in Paros

This company is also registered both as Simply Rent a Car and as Wheego. When I arrived on Wed 15th June, they gave me a car full of scratches. It took us 15 min to take numerous photos of the scratches. Then, the rep told me that I can only pay the Warranty of €700 using their website. This is the first time that any car company asked me to do something like this. They needed my credit card and my account's IBAN. I told them that this is highly unusual and they should use a remote machine (like everyone else) to suspend the amount from my credit card. They insisted that this is the only way I could pay for the warranty and, if I didn’t pay this way, I would not be given the car. Eventually, I used my debit card and they instructed me to put a fake IBAN as, in any case, they would use my debit card's number to return the money. I returned the car on Wed 19th June with no scratches or damages and the rep signed my document confirming this. He told me that I would receive my warranty back in 10 working days. After 14 working days of not receiving the money into my account, I called them to inquire about this and they reassured me that there was a mistake with the bank and that they would return the money asap. A day later (10th July), I received an email confirming that they had just refunded the Warranty (which means that they had not refunded it before). 10 working days later (24th July), and no sign of the money deposited into my account. When I called this time to complain, they pretended that they could do nothing about this as they had refunded the money, so the problem is now with the banks and that it might take up to a month to receive my money back. I called my bank rep who looked at the Global Transfer register and there was no order for transferring any money to my account. Reading other reviews here, it makes me think that this company is tricky, their cars are problematic and they use dubious tactics to either keep your warranty money for a long time or never return it.

Avoid Simply rent a car Paros

We booked a car with Simply for June 24. Our experience was very similair to William's. We arrived at Paros airport, watched all the other hire companies hand cars over and waited...No Simply, we tried numerous times to phone and eventually they answered. Their excuse was that our flight was late. So what, the airport only takes local flights from athens and anybody could check progress on line. After 20 minutes from our phone contact a rep showed up and drove us to the shack. We watched our hire car being washed, thats how ready they were for a booking made months before. When we got the car it was a wreck. Major bump to the rear, scratched all over and it was a dog to drive. It had a warning light showing from the off which related to tyre pressure when we checked. They warned of charges should we return the car dirty. On the return day we had to call them as they wanted it reyrned to a public road outside a supermarket. Please believe us you do not want to hire a car from this company. They are the worst we have ever encountered.

They are unbelievable ! I hired a car in early June 2024 and it was the worst experience I have ever had.
I used them through Holiday Autos and from the 1st moment it was a nightmare.
My booking was for a meet&greet and instead a van showed up 30 mins late and took us to an offsite location - a dodgy container like place on the grounds of a petrol station and where the cars were all covered in dust.
Once we walked in the "container office", the guy was rude, and although we had taken out Premium Insurance cover , he tried to convince me into taking out extra cover because "if the car broke down, we would need to wait for the same car to be fixed and would not have access to any other car .."
Then.. it came to the CREDIT CARD... this is where it get's ludicrous... i had to have a credit card that had IBAN because they were going to take the money from my card and then return it once the car was returned with no fines, same amount of petrol, etc.
So... i didnt have a credit card with an IBAN so I had to give them my debit card and they took a payment of €700! yes, thats right.. €700 was withdrawn from my current account. This then means.... bank charges, exchange rate fluctuations...
Next... the car... it was a peace S$it!!. it was dirty, and they said..ohh no problem, we wont charge for cleaning on return..
We were scared to drive it.. we couldnt turn on the AC as it died everytime.. not even the fan.. we bearly used it as we thought it would leave us stranded somewhere.
When we returned the car, we let them know all this and they said.. oh ok we will look into it.
It has been almost 3 weeks since our return and not only have I not received my €700 , they have now emailed me to let me know they are only returning €540, because the rest goes to cleaning the car that they alledge was dirty (we received the car dirty and were told we didnt need to clean it).
This morning, I received an email with photos of a car that was NOT THE CAR I HIRED AS EVIDENCE.
This is a huge nightmare, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!!
