You can't e-deposit foreign checks or at a ATM, you have to mail them to Simplii then they take up to eight days to deposit it into your account BUT then the funds do NOT get released for 30 business days. I been waiting for almost two months and now they told me the funds will be released on a certain date which they weren't. Such a horrible bank to deal with and customer support is terrible.

after spending 6 months getting them on the phone over 15 times to activate my account which I had PRE-DEPOSITED $120 into i finally got my account activated.
EVERY SINGLE MONTH since I signed up i have had to call customer support AT LEAST once a month.
this month, I fell behind due to a car crash tak8ng me off my feet for 3 months.
SOMEHOW they got my wife's number and decid3d to call HER before I ever even got a notice.
either via email, call, or text.
she doesn't have a simplii account.
never even looked at their site.
so... back on the phone I go.
I chewed them out and told them it is unethical and extremely dangerous for them to be leaving calls on numbers that are not relayed to them directly and that this is extremely poor treatment of their customers.
I fought for 6 months to get this stupid account and EVERY month I find myself on call with you guys YET AGAIN.
I have NO idea how you got the 2023 consumer review award or what ever you were boasting about non stop on your hold line for the 5 months it took me to get my account.
because you have been the MOST difficult financial institute I have had to work with in ALL my time since I was legally allowed to have a bank.
at this point... I am forced to pay off, close my accounts, and call all that time fighting a waste...

I spoke with Krista Hunter. Right off the bat I could tell she was awesome. Nice tone and very friendly. She was able to build rapport with me very fast and was amazing to deal with. Give Krista a raise. This is the type of person you want talking to your customers and representing your company. Well done Krista
Do not trust their phone agents
Do not trust their phone agents. They give wrong and often contradictory information. Did not seem to care or correct this problem after I reached out. Make sure you get at least confirmation from a few different people if phoning for advice. Or use a different bank.

Officially the worst bank I've ever used. Since the are only an online bank with branches I can only make transfers online. And I am unable to do so due to some error. For two months now I've been calling them just to hear 'it will be fixed in two days' and it never is. Every time I call i get a dismissive info that they don't know and I need to wait for a manager to call. Holding my money hostage at this point.

They're no frills to the core. That especially includes their non-existent customer service! Their online chatbot is useless and only answers preexisting programmed questions with automatic answers (which you can find on its website anyway). When you request to speak to a live agent, it gives you the same crappy response when you get to the Start Chatting box (you're all excited because you think you're about to get personalized service and chat with a BREATHING HUMAN BEING!). But noooooooo... it tells you that the "agent is busy assisting other customers" and that you should try again later. After the first few disappointments, I've experimented with it every time I log in and no matter what day or time, you will get the same crappy preprogrammed response!!
Bank with it for $0 fees and use it as a primary account to pay bills, receive payroll and park funds to be transferred elsewhere, but don't expect ANYTHING else!! You can't even look up the current interest rate of your HISA (if you've got one, because you can theoretically enrol for the occasional promos of higher interest). So -- in short, everything is a joke here.

High interest savings promotion is false advertising and fraudulent
Signed up for a high interest savings account because of their promotion. Recognizing as soon as I opened my account, the window for the high interest promotion was open, I wanted to get my money in ASAP to maximize my return. Problem is, the clock starts on the promotional period immediately but you can’t access your account to transfer money in until you’re sent your physical card. It’s been two weeks and now there’s a postal strike, so I’ll likely miss a substantial amount of interest. Contacted Simplii and their response was that due to the postal strike they may just not send out cards period… but they didn’t offer me a way to access my account!

This is the Worst bank I ever have an account. After so many years living in Alberta with a Saskatchewan phone number, I decided to change and get a local phone number.
Few days later, I got inside the app to update my phone number, clicked save, the app wanted to send a message to my old number to confirm. Really? I was inside the app. Could not do it. I phoned Simplii Financial. First it takes so long. Second, I had to talk to a manager, not available that day. Phoned next day. He told me to go to a CIBC to get a transaction, take money out, and then phone them. Are you Kidding me? I do that, so no happy to have to find a CIBC and loose more of my precious time, and then, loose more time again to phone them, to get transfer to a manager because only him/she can do that.
What about other methods of verification, like every other institution does?!
My main bank account is BMO, got inside my app, if I'm inside, well, hello, it's me. Just go, update. They sent an email to my register email with a code. Done. No phone calls, no waisting time and few minutes everything solved.
So there's nothing simple on this bank, everything is so complicated.
Guess what, I'll transfer everything to my BMO account and close this crap.
I did open this account because I want to have a separated banking account, business and personal, but just forget about it, not worth the headache.

After the tedious effort to refinance to reduce fortnightly mortgage repayments, I was very disappointed with the outcome.
I was quoted by Ali as saving over $80 fortnightly, better in my pocket than the banks! When settlement happened, it turned out to be$20. Not worth the time or effort!!!🤬
High Interest Rate Scam
I’m extremely disappointed with Simplii bank’s deceptive practices around their “promotional high-interest savings account.” Four months ago, the promotional rate ended, but I was told their rates generally remain competitive afterward. I kept my money there under the assumption I’d continue to receive a decent rate. Instead, for the last four months, they’ve been paying only the regular, much lower interest rate, without any communication or notification.
This bank essentially sat on a few hundred thousand dollars of my savings, reaping the benefits while I earned next to nothing. It feels like a bait-and-switch scam—luring customers in with high rates, then switching to minimal interest once they’ve locked in deposits. This isn’t just misleading; it’s downright unethical. If you value transparency and integrity, I’d strongly advise steering clear of this bank.

**Tangerine is not responsible for frauds**
They won't transfer you to fraud quickly (people are not trained). Once you get someone after 1 hour +, they will tell you what you want to hear and then change their mind, at the end of the day, the loss will be yours 100% (except on credit cards since they can reverse it let's be fair unlike them), they will never take responsibility for anything that costs money. Also, they will tell you that you will get an answer within x days and you will be totally ghosted. The customer service wait time is a joke. This bank is trash and even saying that is not fair to trash. If there was a stock for Tangerine, I wouldn't buy it for a penny.
limits of line of credit and credit cards are low
simplii needs to offer higher limits for line of credits and credit card accounts and remain competitive with rbc, mbna, td bank and others I have.
Great Bank Alway Professional and Courteous
We moved our banking accounts to PC when they began.. I was just so frustrated with our banks endless fees and poor customer appreciation and service. When it changed to Simplii I found things actually got better and I was already happy with PC. We still had our mortgage at our old bank and it was renewal time and I was not at all happy with the service I was getting so we moved our mortgage to Simplii. I was nervous about it being all online/over the phone/email but everything went smoothly and it was pretty stress free. So after a while we decided to move our RRSPs from our old bank to Simplii as well. Our mortgage just renewed and we dealt with Matthew MaGee to get started, he was awesome very helpful went over all our options answered my endless questions and always responded quickly. We were passed on to Gilbert Lau who went over the final numbers a let us know all the steps that would be taken from here. Gilbert was amazing, he responded to my emails in less than an hour, sometimes within minutes, never left me hanging waiting for an answer. Things didn’t go quite as planned but only due to recent job changes on our end that they weren’t aware of when we started. I was getting nervous that things would not get done in time but Gilbert was always calm and reassuring. It did get done in time and my stress level was much lower than it could have been so thanks Matthew and Gilbert for making this process so easy and for you constant quick attention, it really was greatly appreciated!
