I would give them zeros if I could

I would give them zeros if I could. Their High Savings Interest promo offer is what gets you in the door, but once you're in (btw, a lengthy approval application), you'll be given convoluted information by one of their sales rep. to open a no-fee checking account to scam you to deposit your check into. Even if you call to confirm you are earning their promotional interest on the high savings account as a new client, they will deceptively say, "yes" knowingly that you're not & your deposit which should have been earning interest is sitting in the checking account instead earning pretty much nothing. Stay away & go elsewhere where a bank will genuinely give proper instructions & not trick you out of your potential earnings from a high savings account.

Closed my account after 10 years being a trusted client

I have been using Simplii for 10 years, everything was fine. However, since 2024, problems started - my money was frozen for more than 10 days with a global transfer, and every time I called there, I got different information.

Then 199 CAD disappeared from my account, and when I called and asked about the investigation, I got the answer that the office management should close my account without any investigation.
My account was just closed and I had to deal with this problem very urgently. I tried to discuss this decision with the management, but I was told that the decision was made and is not subject to discussion.

Shitty bank

Shitty bank, as an adult they give you limits on your account that not even children get, and they approved my girlfriend sent her a card and a pin and then later closed her online access and told her that she was actually not approved for the account, there’s zero quality control within this company and the limits that are set are Pennie’s and there solution is for them to raise limits for 1 purchase, completely useless as a bank and each of there customer service representatives, if you want uneducated employees and first grade banking limits this is the place for you, if not don’t waste your time with these clowns

Too cheap to care about you

I had my wallet stolen and the thieves used the tap feature of my Simplii and my RBC debit cards to drain both accounts. I notified both banks immediately. Both acted very concerned, though the agent from Simplii said it would take up to 3 months for Simplii's fraud team to come to a conclusion. In less than 2 weeks RBC put the amount that was stolen from me back in my account. Four months after I alerted them Simpliis Fraud team still hadn't come to a conclusion about whether I deserved reimbursement. The amount stolen from my Simplii account was approx 200$. I WAS a client with Simplii (and PC financial before Simplii/CIBC bought them) for more than 10 years. Its pretty insulting when a company that nets 7billion dollars in a year, won't help out a loyal customer with a 200$ theft.

Incompetent people!

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Simplii Financial’s customer service. Three weeks ago, I called to ask about financial relief options like a payment deferral. I was transferred to the remediation team, where an agent named Rena told me I could extend my mortgage amortization to 40 years if eligible. I submitted my payslips, spent nearly 30 minutes providing a full breakdown of my finances, and had multiple follow-up calls over two weeks. Rena assured me I should be approved and that all my details were on file—then mentioned it was her last day, but I just needed to call back to finalize it. Before she left, she also told me I would get a call back in a day or so. That never happened.

A few days later, I called back and was transferred to another agent, Gloria, who had no idea about my request. After searching for 20 minutes, she told me there were no notes from the previous agent and that I wasn’t even eligible! When I asked to escalate the issue, she told me her manager was unavailable but was "pretty sure" they would reject it too. She also said she would submit a complaint on my behalf, but I never received any follow-up or communication about it.

So after three weeks of back and forth, wasted time, and false hope, I was just brushed off. How does a bank lose track of a customer’s request like this? The level of incompetence and poor service is shocking. Simplii Financial clearly doesn’t care about helping its customers—just about making money off them.

I opened an account with Simplii after…

I opened an account with Simplii after months of waiting and getting a run around. They sent me everything to verify my ID finally and I went into to verify got a confirmation that I can start using my card. I went to deposit money in my account said I need to activate it. I called to activate and was then told they revoked my account with no explanation. I believe it’s a blessing their customer service is horrible and it sounds like they are a nightmare

It's a scam and not worth the trouble!

It's a scam and not worth the trouble!
I opened an account back in September 2024 to get their 5 months of promotional interest, but it took them almost a month to send me my account information. Their promotional interest rate starts the day you sign up and I lost out on an entire month of the promotion. I'm sure they do that on purpose.

My "Promotional period" just ended and I called today to transfer my money out and they are giving me a hard time. I feel sick because they might have stollen my money.

Simplii - Holds you money and tortures you to try and get it back

watch out seniors!!!! and anyone who deposits to Simplii !!!!!!!
we deposited a cheque into our Simplii savings account as they were offering a great short term rate.
we had done this several times before over the past 5 years. We are in our 70's and saved all our life for our retirement. this was our holiday emergency money so we wanted to keep it liquid in case something came up
30 days after the deposit we got a notice from Simplii they were reducing their rate back to .0030 (almost nothing ) so we decided to move our money to another savings account with another bank for a better rate. I try to transfer the money on line and it kept saying - you don't have any money- yet showed our balance there. Weird I thought - maybe something wrong with our card. so I called the 1800 number - got the call back option and said yes - No one ever called back ???? So next day I called again. after an hour on hold got a person who said you have to call the fraud dept - weird again??? - they transferred me over - another 30 minute wait - Finally a lady by the name of "Zoey" came on line and said your money is on hold from the deposit - 30 DAYS AGO!!!!!!! Why I asked - she said we have to verify the cheque - Really - you have had the money on deposit for 30 days - now you have to verify it - when I want it??????? - you never notified me for 30 days of anything- so now what do you want.??? they never emailed me - texted- me called me - NOTHING - just put an indefinite hold on the money- after I expressed my disappointment - I asked what they wanted so I can have my savings - I explained that I'm a senior and worked for a bank for 40 years - (which they had on their file) I asked why the decided to do this. THE SAID I NEVER DEPOSITED A CHEQUE FROM THAT BANK BEFORE???? OTHER BANKS BUT NOT THAT BANK???? what kinda of statement is that ??????
I asked how can I do that - I had to produce copies of the other bank statement showing the money coming out . I had to do it on a special secure email they
would send me ????? so I had to figure out how to take a picture with my phone then upload onto my lab top and then download onto this special secure site. took me along time - by now I'm crying I'm so frustrated and stressed. I finally accomplish this and send to them - NOT good enough - It had to have my name and address on it too and I had to copy my information profile from the other bank and send to them. Now I'm really really upset - I'm supposed to be going to the hospital where my senior husband has been for 70 days. But I do all that again and send it in.,

Then Zoey - who is just like a sargent says NOW IT'S OVER HER LIMIT AND IT HAS TO GO TO HER MANAGER FOR APPROVAL - which will take more time. Well she says she'll call back soon..

no call for another hour or more - then she calls me and says the pictures are not clear enough - I'll have to do it again. by now I'm at the hospital telling my sick husband this nightmare. I told her I'm at the hospital and cannot do it till later. I stay will husband at night at the hospital .

next morning I send them 20 pictures of everything I can from the other bank . I ask them to give my money now. Well many hours go by - no call no email - nothing . So I can again - wait another hour on hold- get another lady in FRAUD dept - Tell her the whole story again>>>>>>> I am stressed - thinking I'll be in the hospital soon too. This lady Listens and says she will see what she can do and call me back. Now it's afternoon - My Phone rings - It's that Zoey - she says it's approved - YOU CAN HAVE "YOUR MONEY"
OH WOW I can have my own money - my long life savings. Am I supposed to thank her ???????? I asked why she didn't call me in the morning - she said she was on the late shift - so she never handed it off to anyone to fix in the morning- JUST LEFT ME FRETTING ALL MORNING - ALMOST A NEVEROUS WRECK - thinking they were going to steal my savings from me with all this funny business. Zoey - got enjoyment out making me suffer and enjoying her authority over my money and listening to me cry and plead for my money.

This is an abuse of a position of trust. This is abuse of a senior. This is most horrible BANK in CANADA !!!!!!

they hide behind the phone and with no one to deal with eye to eye - You are a victim to their abuse !!!

Now you know -----------------------Who are you going to bank with ----------------- who are you going to trust???????

Beware ----------------life is to short to be exposed to this horrible experience.

Won't let me use my own money

Tonight was the final straw.

My transactions kept getting denied. I called and found out, I exceeded a $500/day limit? Everything is expensive, I only purchased groceries and household necessities today.

I asked them to remove the limit for my emergency transaction and was told no.

In the past I've embarrassed myself having my card denied in-store due to simplii "accidentally" deactivating my card. It happened twice more when there replacement cards I waited weeks to receive were also accidentally deactivated.

Incompetent

Set up PAD for minimum payments to our SLOC. They then called to say we had not made any payments.. I told them auto payments should be set up. The agent then re-set it up for me over the phone and ensured me minimum payments would be withdrawn. Got notice saying they've moved our balance to collections!!!!! Like WHAT? take the money from the PAD account. Now we're in collections AND our LOC was closed - we'd have to re-apply once we pay collections 🤬. We already went through months of crap to apply in the first place, just to have it pulled out from under us over a couple of $4 minimum payments that THEY DIDN'T TAKE! Unbelievable, incompetent, pathetic service.

Mortgage

Have been with Simplii for over 10 years, recently had to do another mortgage with them. Patricia Li worked through the best options for us and got everything processed in very short amount of time as we had a tight deadline. Excellent service. Thanks again
