Underhanded and unapologetic

* I have screenshots, chat records, and BBB records for statements made here.

Sent me one set of earrings that were wrapped in paper and bent at a 90degree angle. Told me if I wanted it fixed I could either pay to send them back and then purchase a new pair or I could drive to a store. Either way if I wanted the issue they caused resolved it would be at my expense and all efforts would be on my part. Was also sent a product covered in someone else’s crusty bodily fluids. Same issue of being told I could either pay to send it back or drive to a store. Went to the store and they acknowledged that I was sent a used and disgusting piece of jewelry. Took over a month and multiple trips to the store wasting my time and money as customer service tossed me around making promises then claiming what they offered could not be done. It was clear they were trying to wear me out so I would give up and just accept the used jewelry I was sent. Finally, probably the worse part. I ordered two pairs of earrings advertised as solid gold. The paperwork that came with the earrings claimed them as solid gold. The earrings themselves stated they were semisolid. Contacted the company who confirmed they were semisolid and therefore it was a case of false advertising. They refused to do anything about it. They said I could just return it at my expense and that all they were willing to do. They wouldn’t even change the description on the website to be truthful after I pointed out that they were still advertising the earrings as solid after they admitted they were semisolid. The company claimed to open a case for me. A month went by, then a month and a half and no response or change to the description on their website. I contacted the company multiple times and they would not respond beyond saying a case was open. Finally reported the case to the BBB. Once the BBB was involved the company finally answered me. They said I could take the earrings to a store and get an exchange of what I paid for. That was a lie and when that was proven to the BBB the company was unapologetic and stated that they had no responsibility to uphold their promise and that what they told me was a lie but they didn’t care. They told me that they have a statement on their website stating they can advertise things as whatever they want and if it’s not true nothing can be done because they’re statement says that what you’re buying may not be what you get. Summed up, nothing was done and the company wasn’t only unapologetic but was actually boldly snobby about the fact that they can sell items as whatever they want and if they get caught in their lie they have a safety net in their statement that says they can lie all they want and if you don’t like that then that’s too bad. And even if you go with the most basic option of just returning the merchandise they lied about or sent used or broke, you have to pay for it to be returned. They messed it up or lied yet the customer has to pay. Never doing business with them again.

AVOID!!! AT ALL COST.

Hello,

My name is ------------ and I would like to write a formal complaint regarding my service at H Samuel.

November 4th 2022 I purchased four jewelries at your Watford branch.

I purchased insurance because I was going on holiday to Jamaica for my birthday on the 5th .

Less than 6 months of having the jewelry they began to turn black.

I did not shower with the jewelry on nor did my holiday impact the jewelry as they were still yellow in color on my arrival to the United Kingdom.

I went into your store to get the items fixed and was turned away twice at your Watford Branch because I didn't have any receipt of my insurance.

Infact the advisor looked at me as if I was a scammer or a thief.

they were very dismissive and wanted me out of the shop because they did not believe I made the purchase.

I explained to each advisor that my information should be in the system, and I did not have any way of finding the items.

I have emailed and called many times and I was told I would be called back but never have had my call returned.

Yesterday I spoke to an advisor who I ask to send me an email proof of our conversation so I can escalate the matter further. She said she would as soon as I hang up but she also never did.

I contacted Domestic and General for the first time as she told me to.

They helped me to access my account in order to fix the matter.

I saw that all three of my policies have been expired since November 4th 2024.

The advisor at Domestic and general alerted me that if I had asked for my jewelry to be fixed prior H Samuel should uphold this claim.

I am not well mentally and I am heavily medicated in order to function daily.

I believe H Samuel prolonged my case in order for the items to no longer have insurance.

I am appalled at this company and i will never so long as I have breath purchase from this shop again.

Why offer insurance if you know you don't want to uphold it?

Domestic and General said as I contacted H Samuel prior to my insurance expiring the should acknowledge my insurance purchase, if not they will escalate the matter further so that my jewelry can get fixed.

I have been contacting you all since 2023 and have failed at getting a solution.

I feel as though I have been conned and at this point i do not even want the jewelry anymore! I just want my money back for the useless insurance I purchase and also I would like to get my money back for the jewelry I have not worn for two years.

My policy information is as followed:
- T2K0992630
-T2K0992631
-T2K0992632

How can I escalate this further, I mentally and physcially cannot continue chasing H Samuel for a solution, I just want out.

My anxiety and depression if off the rails and this is not helping me one bit.

update: Spoke to general manager today via live chat and she closed my chat, so now I am at stage 1 again. All post all my black jewelry to show customers my predicament.

Please note I have not worn the jewellery since 2023. they are just sitting on my dresser collecting dust.

I had a terrible experience with Ernest…

I had a terrible experience with Ernest Jones. I paid £300 for an item that was promised to be delivered on 17th December, but it never arrived. After chasing them via email, they initially said the item was in another store but later admitted they didn’t have it at all.

What’s worse, both Ernest Jones and H. Samuel are owned by Signet Jewelers, and the same item is available on H. Samuel’s website—but for a higher price. This feels like nothing more than corporate greed.

To make matters worse, Ernest Jones is refusing to refund my money, offering only a gift card. Why would I want to shop with them again after this appalling service? I’ve lost all trust in Ernest Jones, H. Samuel, and any business under Signet Jewelers.

I strongly urge others to avoid them and spend their money with companies that value their customers.

My partner purchased my engagement ring…

My partner purchased my engagement ring in Kildare village jewellers at Christmas and proposed to me in valentines, 2024 when I got the ring I noticed a colour shade in one of the stones, I called company and informed them of this and was told I had 12 mths warranty so I brought the ring back 3 weeks ago to be sent away to check under manufacture warranty they have come back to say that ring stone colour is perfect but there is dirt under neath the stone and they will be a charge of 450 to get stone removed and cleaned , to remove the dirt that was there when I received it, I spoke with the manager and as she was nice and did try and help me she was able to drop price to 250 , to be sent to another of there goldsmiths to sort, I am so disappointed with the service and having to pay, to fix a ring that’s not even a couple of mths old I will never purchase in this store again , my ring was a couple of thousand euro and I should not have to pay anything to get it resolved , would not recommend purchasing in this store again

I want people to know what I've experienced and went through

This is really signet Jewelers review that owns Jared's. I should've done this review a long time ago. Honestly I loved it. Only thing was the amount you're being paid. I've worked for signet for 4 years and with a promotion and a raise from March 2015 to August 2019 I only made up to $11.80 and no that amount is not a typo. I don't Even know how I manage to provide for my family with that but when your manager is trying to win trips for less re-works out the district while you're trying to hone your craft and get promoted, I'm coming home to my kids saying they're hungry almost everyday while I barely can keep the lights on. I don't want to bash my team members that I use to work with but there are some that you got to bite your tongue for the way you get talked to while you're trying to learn but I don't want to get into that. But for a full time job you're getting paid less than a teenager with a part time job. I hope that the pay may have went up for the future Jewelers within that company but as much as I love the craft it scares me to think that I can't provide for my family even when it's a billion dollar company. It was heart breaking to leave but I feel like I wasted 4 years... actually 6 years of my life because it took me 2 years to get my foot in the door as an apprentice. There are good people within the company its not all bad but survival in the real world was a struggle. I give it a 2 and a half star because I really loved being a bench jeweler but I was getting paid way less than a teenage McDonald's entry worker withno responsibilities. I thought I was doing bad when I got a 25 cent raise until my coworker said he got a 15 cent raise smh. Ps I came to write thos review again here because my honest experience was denied on indeed.
