Web site was very easy to navigate

Web site was very easy to navigate, entered my vehicle info and search came back with all my options. Was easy to research my options to come up with the best fit for how I use my truck. Received my shocks on time, Installed them all in under an hour now my truck drives so well, actually had a broken shock up front so made a huge difference

Zero communication, not a return customer

Everything was fine, the website worked well and I easily narrowed down my options and picked something in my budget. The prices were good, slightly lower than other sites and seemed to have a better selection than some. The issues arose after I purchased my shocks, I didn't get an email with tracking numbers though that could have been my fault, the shipping wasn't super fast by any means but adequate, I received 2 boxes and opened the top one and it contained 2 shocks, I wasn't ready to start my project so I put the boxes away. 2 weeks later I go to gather my materials and open up the second box, it contained 1 shock, confused I checked my emails and found nothing from the company at all. I reach out to them and say wtf is going on and they had no idea, said they would look into it and get back to me, they are nice enough but no apologies or anything when I gave you $500 for 4 shocks and 3 weeks after placing my order I have 3 but apologies aren't gonna solve anything anyway. So I wait and 3 business days later I haven't heard anything so I email them back again and say is this some kind of scam? Cause I have never dealt with a company that not only is totally unapologetic after they screwed up and have had zero communication to let a customer know what was going on. They get back to me and say oh, our warehouse confirmed only 3 were shipped out, they are waiting on more from the manufacturer they should have them in another week or so and then they will ship them out. Which is fine, but it would have been nice to know that their "in stock" label doesn't mean they have them or at least as soon as this problem came up they could have reached out and refunded my money or given me other options, i would have honestly bought more expensive shocks at that point if I could get them quicker and they had offered. Anyway I took over a month from order to having all 4 shocks in my hand and they are as described, the website and purchasing process were fine and shipping for the most part was ok too, but they have zero communication and don't seem to care a whole lot once the purchase has been made so don't expect much from them. This is the first I've heard from them since and I assume these "rate us" emails are probably automated. I personally would not purchase from them again barring some very compelling reason.

However, we’re very sorry for the frustration caused by the missing shock and the lack of communication during the process.

After reviewing what happened, it appears the fourth shock had not yet arrived from the manufacturer when the rest of the order shipped. Once our warehouse confirmed that only three units had gone out, we had to wait for the additional shock to arrive before sending it out to complete your order. That said, we agree that this should have been communicated more clearly and proactively so you knew exactly what was happening and what your options were.

We also want to note that Daisy did apologize several times while assisting with your case, and she worked with our warehouse team to track down the missing unit and get the final shock shipped out as soon as it became available.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Feedback like this helps us improve how we handle inventory updates and customer communication when unexpected issues arise. We’re glad to hear the full set did arrive and that the products were as described, and we sincerely apologize for the delay and the experience along the way.

Great items and company

I had a brief chat asked one question, they sent me a link to there site for what i needed. Shipping was fast, added my new H&R lowering coils, drove the car to work that evening, and it was like wow, smooth ride, love’em. This is my 2nd set from this company and they are an outstanding company with great customer service, and they stand by there products.

5 days to ship!

Order for shocks was placed Saturday, and did get any tracking info until Wednesday! Coming from California requires five days shipping.

Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST. Since the order was placed on Saturday, it was received outside of our operating hours and began processing on the next business day Monday. Tracking information was then sent once the order had been processed and shipped.

We also attempted to locate the order using the name provided in the review but were unable to find a matching order in our system. If you would like us to look into this further, please feel free to contact our support team with the order number or the name used on the purchase so we can assist you.

Over all I had no issue getting the shocks I looked up what I wanted and it worked out I didn’t think my old shocks were worn out till I took em out and the difference between those and 5100 was night and day way less body roll truck took corners way better

Missing hardware

In some cases, the manufacturer requires the full shock to be returned so they can properly replace or inspect the unit, which is why we had to process it that way.

In many situations, small hardware like nuts and washers can also be sourced locally, and we’re happy to reimburse the cost if that’s the quickest solution to get you back on the road.

Outstanding Warranty Advocacy and Technical Support

I had an awesome experience working with the Shock Surplus team, and I really have to give a huge shoutout to Cheri Cortez.
One of my 2024 GMC Sierra's shocks failed after 1.5 years. Instead of making me jump through a bunch of administrative hoops, the SS team stepped right in and actually helped me claim the warranty.
They were incredibly efficient—verifying the issue and shipping out the replacement hardware right away, without the usual headache of making me mail the blown shock back first. I just wrapped up installing the new one, and the truck's suspension damping and overall ride quality are completely dialed back in. It’s so refreshing to deal with a team that actually advocates for you during a warranty claim.
I highly recommend them to anyone looking for solid off-road hardware backed by top-tier support!
