Established in Sheffield, England since 1840 (originally ELR Auctions) we are the region's oldest Antique, Fine Art & Specialist Auctioneers and Valuers, offering a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge, together with professional advice and valuations for both buyers and sellers across a large range of regular Auctions. In 2010 we underwent a substantial programme of expansion, constructing our own, modern, purpose-built Salerooms, re-branding and becoming the Sheffield Auction Gallery we are today. With an extensive team of Specialist Valuers, we offer free professional advice on all aspects of pre-Auction Valuation and Auction Sale. In 2014 we expanded further, acquiring and incorporating A. E. Dowse & Son Limited, another very well established firm of Sheffield Auctioneers. We have continued to thrive, going from strength to strength, building infrastructure, growing technological advancements and expanding our dedicated team of professional valuers and increasing our range of specialist auctions. We hold fortnightly auctions of Antiques & Collectables, Silver, Jewellery & Watches and a specialist Auction, plus monthly Specialist Collectable Toy Auctions, quarterly Antique & Fine Art, Silver, Jewellery and Watches Auctions.

Shockingly rude & very disappointing service
Very disappointing experience. After being asked to contact management regarding a minor issue, I sent a polite email hoping to resolve it. Instead, I received a dismissive and rude response, addressing me as “Madam” rather than using my name, and refusing to engage or discuss the matter further. There was no attempt to listen or resolve the concern—just a complete shutdown of communication. Poor customer service and a lack of basic courtesy. One star is too good for this company!

The team at SGA are brilliant!
The team at SGA are brilliant and their online and face-2-face customer service that I have encountered proves this.
They are flexible and adaptable to the customer (my needs), they are knowledgeable and provide great post-auction pickup for lots which I have won.
Good service
I submitted an item for a sale. All the necessary processes went through smoothly. The piece achieved a fair price, as forecast. Payment was prompt and exact. Staff courteous throughout. No complaints.

don't go to this auction
on the 31st of October i won at this auction a gold charm bracelet costing over 3500 pounds. When the item was delivered my partner and i notice two of the charms were missing. when i rang the Auction the receptionist just said impossible i asked to speak to the manager and all i received was an email stating that the auction does not accept responsibility and they were there when packed basically accusing me of theft or making a false claim,
Manager a nasty piece of work rang up…

Fees sky high ….
Fees sky high compared to other auction houses and found the customer service impersonal and correspondence confusing
Didn't repect my items
Awful experience only had the items appraised. Was told they could sell them we can sell anything in the first veiwing but when another lady rung back was told they couldn't sounded like she couldnt be bothered with all the work on the phone she was extremely rude. Was implied they had better things to sell. The items themselves when I picked them up were dusty and not well kept as they were not put back in the dust jackets folders were opened and left open and some on the card was bent and ripped in the other folders. NOT IMPRESSED
Been today to pick items up only to be…
Been today to pick items up only to be told they don’t take cash only card
But on this occasion they will accept cash this time and not only that what I find totally unacceptable is you can not take children with you in the auction room disgusting my granddaughter goes to every auction with me and never had a problem with it in fact they make her feel very welcome and she allowed to bid only on my say so and the auction house as not got a problem with it
Terrible company
Terrible company rip off all the way down the line. I had small 18 carat, oval diamond ring, no inclusions, crystal clear, shimmering and glinting all the colours of the rainbow. Worn just three times, perfect in every way.
The ring would have been very, very sought after.
They sold it for £300
And then took their cut from that £300.
I will never, ever go there again, they sell your precious items for peanuts. They are not there for you the seller, only their trusted regular buyers.
Well! a very painful and hard lesson learned and left with the scars to prove it.
You would be better off selling your precious items on ebay than these unprofessional buffoons. Horrid experience and a very bitter pill to have swallowed.
DO NOT DO IT.
Horrendous experience - AVOID!!!
Horrendous experience following misdescribed items. Emails remain unanswered for weeks and even after a refund was promised in writing nothing was received a month later. When I chased this 4 weeks later there was still no response and then a refund was received a few days later but for only 50%. Avoid this company unless you want to be disappointed and ripped off!
Quality of goods are ok but fees are…
Quality of goods are ok but fees are out of this world and delivery quotes are just day light robbery and won't allow you to use your own courier at quarter of their price never again why would I pay £120 for delivery when every other company would charge me £48
Sheer Quality
I have only been bidding with Supreme Auctions for a few months now, and I have to say their customer service girls are sheer quality.
Nothing is a problem for them, like today I have been struggling to book for a pallet to be lifted. As this is my first time ordering a pallet.
So one of ladies who's name is Sam offered to help myself deal with the issue.
They're so pleasant & helpful on the phone. Most times companies staff members simply do their job & no more, not these girls, like I said, sheer quality. Supreme Auctions are lucky to have such eager, tentative staff such as Sam & Jess.
Thank you Sam

STAY CLEAR DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
STAY CLEAR DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
MENT TO GET RETAIL OF £8600
TURNS UP WITH A LOAD OF CRAP FOR SKIP LIGHT BULBS ECT TO FIND RETAIL OF £6400 TO RING THEM AND BE FOBBED OFF SAYING THEY CANT DO ANYTHING STAY CLEAR PEOPLE NEVER AGAIN LOST £800
Not 2B Trusted.
This Auction is timed, but when the time gets to seconds left they increase the time by 10 minutes. By doing this they con people into making last minute bids thus forcing up the price. Not satisfied with doing it once they will do it time and again if there are several people interested. Disgraceful con merchants to be avoided if you have any sense.
Terrible Auction House to deal with
Terrible Auction House to deal with. Delivery very, very bad. They promised delivery one one occasion and confirmed collection by courier to find on due delivery date it was still in the warehouse. Another, emailed delivery address but delivered to invoice address although specifically requested!!
Now although it is their fault no refund clause in small print…fancy and vat
Extortionate Postage & Inadequate Packaging
Terrible auction house to deal with, non-personal email replies and extortionate postage services. I bought a small dinky toy model. They wanted to charge me £16 for postage and packaging and reluctantly reduced to £13 when I challenged them. Model arrived today posted in a squashy Jiffy bag for £4. The box (very important for Dinky Toys) is now bashed and torn, model inside thankfully looks to be ok. As a professional business dealing in expensive and collectors items where condition matters, you would think they could be sympathetic in posting and wrap carefully. I will never use them again, their loss.
Avoid at all costs
Spent over £1600 with them and asked for items to be posted - they refused and sent me several impersonal and highly condescending emails.
The terms on their website are complicated and confusing - full of 'ifs', 'buts' and 'maybes' - and give potential buyers absolutely no clarity whatsoever
Unless you are able to collect from them (Mon to Fri, they do not open at weekends obviously!) avoid and use a professional auctioneers who offer postage service.
BUYER BEWARE
I just purchased some items on line.
Photos were edited to miss faulty / missing items.
This was done to deceive the buyer, making them(me) think the items were worth than they were.
There is a difference between play worn as they listed them than deception.
Attitude was dismissive, customer service doesn't exist as long as they get there money.
Paid for inhouse packaging old box with old bubble wrap thrown on top of unprotected items underneath.
I see there are other reports of being ripped off by Sheffield Auction Gallery. PLEASE BEWARE
I called this auction house just before…
I called this auction house just before the auction was to start. They accepted my commission bid, but although the lot sold for a lot less than my maximum bid I did not get the lot. They told me that the card on file was not valid. It was of course. So both the vendor and I lost out. Beware if you place a bid here. They may not honour it.
