Shapehouse were contracted to build a single-storey extension for me, with works commencing in June 2025 and originally due for completion in October 2025.

Before signing the contract, I received a high level of attention and support from the company director. The project was presented as a fixed-price build with transparency around any scope changes and associated costs.

Initially, progress was reasonable, and where additional costs arose they were generally explained and agreed in advance. However, as the project fell behind schedule, the experience deteriorated significantly.

Towards the end of the build, subcontractors engaged by Shapehouse carried out the installation of LVT flooring. During these works, the glass in my front door was broken while I was not living at the property. I was not informed at the time, leaving the house unsecured. The same works also resulted in a major electrical failure. I was subsequently charged for extensive electrical remedial works in order for the project to continue.

By this stage, I had been out of my home for months, was paying for alternative accommodation and storage, and simply wanted the project completed. In my view, this left me in a vulnerable position when disputes arose.

We had very limited heating and hot water over Christmas 2025. When the underfloor heating was first commissioned on 23 December, flooring in one room lifted due to installation issues and had to be replaced. Photographic evidence is available.

Throughout the project, a number of additional charges were added without the written approval process required under the contract. On several occasions I raised concerns regarding this and was told the project needed to keep moving. Given the ongoing costs of being displaced from my home, I reluctantly accepted a number of these charges rather than risk further delays.

The situation escalated in January 2026 when I was presented with a five-figure charge for decorating works allegedly undertaken in November and December 2025. These costs had not been discussed or approved in advance. I disputed the charge and declined to pay it. Following this, workers were removed from site and the project was left incomplete.

Since then, obtaining completion of outstanding works has been extremely difficult. Communication has been inconsistent, there has been significant staff turnover, and many issues have required repeated chasing.

It is now June 2026. I have personally undertaken work to bring the property into a reasonable condition, yet I still do not have the Building Control completion documentation, formal confirmation of project completion, or the warranty information I was expecting.

I have been informed by a third party that Shapehouse has ceased trading. Despite this, I have received no direct communication from the company regarding its status or how outstanding obligations to customers will be addressed.

I consider myself fortunate that my project was substantially complete before this happened. My understanding is that other customers may be facing more significant difficulties.

My advice to anyone considering using this company, or any successor business connected with the same individuals, is to carry out thorough due diligence. Check Companies House records, seek independent reviews, speak to previous customers where possible, and ensure you understand exactly how variations and disputes will be handled before signing a contract.

This project became an exhausting and deeply stressful experience that lasted far longer than promised. It has been, without question, the most difficult and disruptive twelve months I have experienced as a homeowner.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! unless you want to be ripped off, lied to, ignored and left with a property that is unfinished after spending £287,000 excluding skip hire, Kitchen & Bathrooms and flooring and carpets. It’s all singing and dancing at the beginning with promises of a quick build and the cheapest way to complete! NO BUILDING REG sign off NO warranties or guarantees NO COMMUNICATION or responses once they take your money! Ignored phone calls! Intimidation to pay up or they pull the workers off site, quotes and ballpark agreements doubled in price, theft of materials and goods handed to their staff suddenly disappear with no explanation. Threatens to pull workers when a review was put up and demanded it be removed. They basically hold you to ransom to get their hands on your hard earned cash but do not follow through with completion but charge you for the privilege of there staff being onsite not actually doing anything! The list goes on and on and on so take my advise and DO NOT EVEN ENGAGE WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT THE JOB DONE PROPERLY! A very smooth experience. They took care of my extension from start to finish, including a project manager, which took a lot of the stress away. They have been flexible and got the job done on time even over the winter. I would highly recommend.

We’re currently mid-way through a loft conversion on our detached bungalow with Shape House and wanted to share our experience so far. This is actually the second time we’ve used them – the first being a full refurbishment of the same bungalow – which says a lot in itself.
From the very beginning, their onboarding process stood out. The quotes are detailed, descriptive and transparent, which makes a real difference if you don’t have a huge depth of knowledge when it comes to building work. It meant we knew exactly what we were signing up for before anything got started.
The project itself involves a full roof strip out, a new roof build, two Velux windows and three dormers. Things are progressing well – materials are arriving on time, and the tradesmen are doing good quality work. They come across as both professional and experienced, which gives you confidence as the build develops. Any queries we’ve had along the way have been answered quickly and the company has been very accommodating throughout.
It’s also worth mentioning that in our experience, when the odd mistake has occurred – as they inevitably do on any build – Shape House have always stepped in promptly to make it right. For us, that’s just as important as everything else, and it speaks to how they operate as a company.
Importantly, the project has also stayed on budget so far. There is no room for extras on our end, so this is something we’re particularly grateful for.
We’ll leave a fuller review once the project is complete, but based on everything so far we’re happy with how things are going and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Shapehouse completed a large double storey wrap-around extension for us, and dealt with everything from technical drawings through to liaising with building control, as well as managing the entire construction process. The teams on site were polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and very respectful of our young family who were living on site throughout. We are delighted with the finished result, and feel that the project delivered by Shapehouse also represented good value.

We’re now around 80% of the way through our garage-to-annex conversion, and ShapeHouse has been with us from the very start. This journey began nearly four years ago. From the initial planning stages, which were complex and took almost three years, through to design and construction, the team has been professional, attentive, and incredibly supportive.
The quality of the build so far is exceptional. The on-site team, particularly Louis and Guesty, have shown real craftsmanship, pride, and attention to detail. They never cut corners and always keep the site tidy and organised. It is rare to find tradespeople who take such genuine care in their work.
The valuation-based billing system was a little confusing at first, but over time it has proved fair and accurate. On the rare occasions where there have been discrepancies, ShapeHouse has been quick to adjust and transparent throughout. Gez, the company director, has personally gone above and beyond to help resolve challenges, and in any project of this scale, how a company handles problems really sets them apart. ShapeHouse have consistently shown goodwill and flexibility, even taking on some additional works at cost where it made practical sense for both sides.
While there have been a few unexpected extras that arose during the build, these were handled reasonably and professionally. Overall, ShapeHouse have demonstrated a strong commitment to quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction. We’re extremely happy with how the project has progressed so far and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I had a couple of guys over, they carried out some work for me, lovely guys, really friendly, great builders, they didn't leave any mess either which is fantastic, will be recommending them to family and friends.

I am absolutely thrilled with the recent kitchen and bathroom renovation completed by Shapehouse Ltd at my property this June. From start to finish, Cristian and his entire team were nothing short of fantastic.

So far, so good. About 2 months into a 4 month build and the experience has been good.
Good office/sales team that we worked with for a few months up to the contact sign.
Good site manager who keeps us informed about developments and potential hitches (which have all then been worked out without much issue).
At this stage we're already considering using them again for a future project.

Shapehouse managed a complicated project to turn a flat roof into a roof terrace. I am basing my rating on my experience of two particular individuals where I would award them 5*+ The quality of craftsmanship from Louis who led the job was outstanding. He really cared about the project right from the start and went to great lengths to think through and get right a number of complex technical details. His workmanship was meticulous, showing great care and attention to detail. He was also an absolute pleasure to have around. The other person I would highlight is Siobhan, who came on to the team in its latter stages as the Project Manager. She was highly efficient, extremely capable, and endlessly patient. No challenge was too great for her. If you could have this dream team on your project, I am sure it would all go extremely well.

I’ve been involved with Shapehouse in a number of projects during my career and have seen them work from up close. Quality doesn’t need to be explained – from interacting with clients to complete, they’re eager to get it right.

I had a small extension with a toilet built. Gus the site manager and his staff were always willing to answer ANY questions and when they answered my questions they used language I understand. This filled me with confidence. They also had a great sense of humour, very polite and every evening left the work space spotless.

Although the space they was working with was tricky and other company’s turned down the job, shapehouse took it on at a fair price & 2 months later I’m still so happy with the end result.
