callous and heartless veterinary practice
I rushed to the clinic at opening time with my kitten which was crying in agony.in my arms.
After a quick examination, I was immediately ushered into the consulting room, where the vet solemnly announced to me in a perfectly sympathetic bedside manner that the poor thing had birth defects and was dying and recommended euthanasia.
My wife, who was shopping nearby, rushed to the clinic within minutes and was welcomed into the waiting room by the nurse with: "how are you going to settle? the bill comes to €290." My wife balked and started crying.
In the meantime, as my distraught wife entered the consulting room, the vet again proposed that she (the kitten) be put out of her misery. After quite a few difficult minutes, I was able to persuade my wife to let go. Simultaneously, it seemed that the vet was working on her next fee opportunity by forcing us to have the animal cremated.
Appearing surprised/shocked when we insisted on taking her home for burial, the vet asked us about the size of our garden. WTF!
Upon leaving the clinic, I was handed a bill which included €79 for the consultation and also €150 for that small injection of anaesthetic, which I consider to have been adding insult to injury. The only positive thing was that it was no longer €290
