I will never use Send My Bag again
I will never use Send My Bag again. They advertise that only around 5% of USA shipments require customs disputes for inappropriately issued customs fees but in reality, it appears to happen far more frequently since it has happened to all three of my suitcases. This is especially frustrating for expats like myself who are paying hundreds, if not thousands, to send multiple suitcases overseas. While I understand they cannot control customs decisions, they are not being honest about how often this issue arises. Based on numerous expat forums, many others have experienced the same problem with most of their shipments. Then when custom charges do occur, the dispute process can take several months, customers are left out of pocket by hundreds and there is no guarantee of reimbursement even after the dispute is resolved.
Shortly after dealing with this, I received an additional charge of £52 claiming my suitcase was 75% over capacity, something I strongly dispute. I contacted customer service to express my dissatisfaction, and they required photographic evidence of the suitcase measurements to challenge the charge. No problem, but at this time, I am in the middle of relocating from the UK to the USA. My suitcase was already in the USA and I would not be there for two weeks while completing my move. I was also trying to arrange alternative shipping as I no longer trusted their service. As a result, I was unable to provide the requested evidence immediately.
Just one week after that email exchange, I received a threatening email stating that if I did not pay within 14 days, the charge would be transferred to DEBT COLLECTORS. This escalation felt completely unreasonable, particularly given the circumstances. After raising this in an expat group, another individual reported an almost identical experience except in her case, the charge was dismissed after she publicly complained. I have shipped three suitcases with this company, yet within a week of disputing a charge, I was already being threatened with debt collection. This is not how loyal customers should be treated.
SMB shows little interest in retaining existing customers or being transparent with new ones. Avoid at all costs if you don’t want to be charged 3x what it would cost if you just shipped with Parcel Hero.

This process may seam daunting to begin with but rest assured there is a fantastic customer service team with you every step of the way. Everything went smoothly and my bags have arrived safe and sound. Fabulous company. We will use again!
Very efficient
Very efficient - my bag arrived in Japan within 5 days even earlier than scheduled. The reservation process was clear and well organized.
Website wasn’t clear
Website wasn’t clear. Price says £22 for sending a box but it turned out it was £72 for the oversized box even though it only weighed 13 kg! We ended up spending £36 on their special cardboard boxes - already massively over price to realise we could buy the items new for cheaper than sending them. Plus they are adding on a surcharge for fuel costs, understandable perhaps but it just makes the price insanely costly.

Great experience for moving US to UK
We moved 19 large boxes from Seattle to London, and even with the Easter holiday weekend in between we had all 19 boxes arrive in London within 7 days.
I made a few calls to customer support along the way (generally to check on pickup status or movement after pickup), and I was always able to reach someone by phone promptly who was very helpful.
We did have all 19 boxes delivered on two pallets to our pavement in front of our house in London, and DHL said we had to take it from there and dispose of the pallets. Not ideal, but manageable given the price.
The price for the service and speed is very fair if you’re willing to do the packing and unloading / disposal yourself.
Easy and very reliable
Great experience
I chose this company because you can select a window of time for pickup and you are able to track your bags. The pickup was just after the window (they let you know up front that they are testing this option and your pickup may not be in the window). I was able to track the bags and they arrived as expected. Ther was no damage (we wrapped our bags in shrink wrap). Very happy with this service!
Quite easy to use
Quite easy to negotiate the instructions. One hiccup this time as I was informed that collection would be done on Easter Monday…. Even though I double checked. Other than that it all went extremely well on both occasions I’ve used it … and I will use it again in September. I have also recommended to others.
