I received a call from Facile Energy, claiming that power will be interrupted in my house unless I switch to Facile since my provider can no longer operate in my area.

It was of course a lie, and I was charged 167€ for a one-bedroom apartment, while with all other providers I was never asked to pay more than 50€ monthly.

When I called, operators were rude and kept offering other services, instead of interrupting my contract.

Do not believe those scammers and never sign up with them!

At a high level, as the name suggests, this is a simple solution for design portfolios. It’s quite suitable for people who don’t have the time or need for custom-coded sites but still want control over their web data. Ofc, this is true for WP or any other free-ish CMS out there.

Overall, Semplice serves its purpose well and is generally hassle-free.
That said, the custom logic in the web editing UI can be annoying in scenarios where expected behaviors for a web editing environment aren’t met. Revisiting the UX logic to better align with industry standards might be worth considering.

One significant downside is the major version updates and their pricing. For example, moving from version 6 to 7 doesn’t justify the upgrade price, given it’s mostly a reskin and a half-baked menu editor. The 20% discount barely offsets the cost, making it comparable to the annual maintenance fees of no-code alternatives like Framer, ReadyMag, Read.cv, or editors like Blocs.

That said, Semplice has something unique: its dedication to portfolio curation and its support for the creative scene. Knowing that it’s an indie, bootstrapped product (although, aren’t we all these days :)), it’s worth considering supporting projects like this over the corpos.

Also, their support is excellent.

I've coded my own sites from scratch and thought this would be a faster, easier method with better mobile optimization. Wrong! The preset blocks in Semplice are very limited and mobile view doesn't look great for some of them (breaks up words). I went through all the tutorials and it's clear that Semplice is limited unless you want to spend hours digging around the code. Time and money wasted.

I don't recommend this. Elementor is better.

I was very excited to try a new tool for my portfolio as I need it to look slick and fresh for Clients who are VERY discerning in the digital world. I was going to pay a developer to do my site and someone recommended Semplice to me. It seemed like it would have everything I need - but on purchase and use I keep coming up against things which are not supported, and I need to do my own code workarounds (eg: inserting images into accordions means I have to code divs and img sources in...instead of having the button to add an image included)...the straw that broke the camels back was the masonry grid (which was why I purchased the template in the first place). I want to display my portfolio based on different disciplines which I work in - UX Research, UX Design, UI Design etc... and unfortunately after a few emails to the support team I was told (and I paraphrase this directly): "Would love to give you a quick fix but in reality it would be better to not try to build a pixel perfect grid." - coming from a product specifically BUILT for and AIMED at designers... I think this is very poor performance. I will need to pay a developer and am happy to do so - but wish I'd done that right from the start instead of paying the money for the template first.

I had semplice for 7 years. It's good if you know what you are doing, and you have your own vision in terms of specific website layouts. But it's really hard to navigate and design. Always having unexpected errors. I don't think its giving me jobs properly. Customer support is ok, they are upsell... I asked them for free upgrade but they rejected me.

Awful design, mind-bogglingly difficult backend to navigate, and zero support. Waste of money. incompatible with mainly all of the plugins, fatal errors onmy wordpresss site over and over, 0 support

I am a Ux designer working in e-commerce. I use semplice for smaller projects all the time. It's absolutely perfect for my needs.

It would be good if customers could pay a little extra to upgrade when new features come out, rather than having to pay the whole amount again. But having said that, there's a lot of work needed to get this amount of quality.

Requirements for Wordpress unclear, makes it appear like 1 upfront cost that provides everything. Money wasn't provided in my currency, no clarification that it was USD and only saw that once the money had come out of my account. Now that I have spent 2 hours on every help section of the internet, gone through 3-4 other parties and paid for a domain and hosting service on top of Wordpress, this thing is a massive learning curve to use. Stay away from it. Website says you can't get a refund because of the nature of the product. This has been the most awful, stressful and expensive experience.

On first glance, this looked like a quick and neat way to build a site. That is until you start actually using it. It's extremely limited (basic stuff like adding a table to your page is not even possible), the UX is so horrible you spend hours and hours of clicking. To get anywhere, you need to add custom css or code, which breaks the editor (it does not show how your page will look anymore, which defies the use of a tool like this anyway). So you end up doing edits, save, preview in browser -> edit, save, preview in browser until you want to go to wix, webflow or code your site yourself (even that would be faster than using Semplice). You are constantly fighting the tool, figuring out how to do something in Semplice (i.e. work around it's limits) that you could code in minutes yourself.

It's also buggy: I've had bugs causing me to lose work, pages that can't be saved at random occurrences, etc. Support is ignoring everything they can't dismiss with "it's your browser", "your hoster is to blame" going full "it works on my machine" mode. I've made test environments for them with a test admin user, submitted movies of bugs, provided exception logging, made more movies with different browser showing the same bugs, etc. Not a single item has been acknowledge as a bug that they need to fix.

I really regret purchasing this. All those other negative reviews here were right…

They will not refund you, they just want to capitalize on small graphic designers buying their scam. If you really wanna do this job then go on big platforms like Wix or try to learn the code here is plenty of info on the web and it will be much cheaper ;). I can't even download a newer version of Semplice without buying the product again, this is nuts.

Absolutely the worst website builder I have ever used. Not only is it expensive, but its not user friendly at at all. It's insanely difficult to navigate and there are a lot of improvements that definitely need to made. There are always interruptions to the site where it won't load for days and also stops working randomly so all of the work and progress you've made is completely lost. I don't understand why they market this as being made for designers when it is extremely not user friendly. My biggest regret as a designer was choosing this as my platform of choice. Do yourself a favor and go with Webflow instead. I would rate this platform as zero stars if I could

This is the least intuitive website builder I have ever worked with. It looks super sleek and chic but the functionality really sucks.

Looks good on paper but in reality, it is a very bog-standard website builder. There are a lot of issues with responsiveness.

Very fiddly and buggy... Things don't really work like you would expect. For example if you change a setting in a navigation item you need to unattach it from the pages then reattach it to actually see the changes which is very tedious when you have a lot of pages. There are just a lot of things that you have to do repeatedly.

The maintenance is really unpractical and time-wasting. A designer decided to use this for some of our clients' websites and it is biting us in the back real good because of the huge lack of flexibility and the time it takes to do anything.

For people who don't really care about having a polished site it's good but when you care about design a little bit, it's a no go :(

I have been creating sites with Semplice for over three years. It is an awesome page builder with lots of custom features. I do not understand the negative comments at all, regarding Support. The Semplice team has always been there for me. There hasn't been a single time I haven't received first-class attention. All you have to do is simply go to the Semplice site and see for yourself and view the number of amazing designers who use Semplice every day. Relatively easy, but limited, hardly any updates, support make me feel small.
Not a fan.

As other users suggested, might go back to using a theme I purchased and used before this.

Support offer little to no help, months of work gone down the drain because they are unable to fix bugs and try pass blame to someone else

Purchased semplice thinking that I’m going to get updates just like any other Wordpress themes. However they ask for additional money every single updates they release. There are better portfolio solutions on themeforrest where you can get free lifetime updates for up to date technology. They hyped the product with other designers portfolios however the functionality of the theme is very limited compared to other themes.
