While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

UNETHICAL POACHERS - DON'T DO IT!

UNETHICAL POACHERS. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE WITH YOUR CLIENTS!!!

I have worked with this company several times now. I have even referred them to other 2 clients creating (collectively) ~2 years of billing.

Aside from a continuous complaint of "Account Manager" attrition, projects falling into voids, and mediocre work, the company's claim to move metrics is laughable.

The straw breaking the camel's back? Recently a close industry colleague just found out they tried to poach their client after my friend decided to no longer contract SelfMade.co. They actually put together a pitch package - said they had been doing all the work - and tried to ruin a decades long relationship.

They made little to no priority for us.

Are you a small business hoping to be treated like your hard earned marketing $$ actually matter? Don't hire these guys.

Really wish I didnt have to write this review but the way this company has treated has made me loose alot of trust for marketing companies in general.

1. After being featured in a well known article Gabrielle reached out to me pitching Self Made. For months she followed up with even more 'estimated results' and examples from past customers. I finally signed up nearly 6 months later.

2. Within a week of signing up our welcome and abanded cart emails were set up. I loved them. I was so excited to see the ads they came up with. 2 weeks later the ads were submitted... I was shocked at how amateurish they looked. The individual who did them clearly did not do a single minute of research on our company.

3. Meanwhile I'm trying to coordinate more emails with our account manager.... MIA. Apparently we were emailing the wrong email all this while ... the same email Gabrielle used to connect us with her in the first place. (yet somehow she was initially responding and never bothered to correct the email error)

By now:
1. Ads have not been redone
2. Our account manager is always I meetings so we never get any other emails made
3. They beautiful email flows they set up... weren't delivering because they had set up the wrong audiences 🤦‍♀️

All this happening at the height of holiday season shopping.

I cancelled. I requested a refund for the ad portion cause literally nothing was done. Not a single person has emailes me back.

Gabrielle, who hounded us for 6 months to sign up, couldn't bother to respond to any of my emails after we signed up.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money! Not only were the Instagram images Selfmade created random, completely off-brand and demographically wrong but they were also completely ineffective and didn’t generate either interest, engagement or website traffic. Our brand managers (one quit so we had two) didn’t listen to us and argued, even in the face of data to the contrary, that the posts were very successful! That is in between trying to upsell us. Of course that was on the rare occasions when they responded to emails. As other reviews noted, the staff are inaccessible (we hypothesized that they work part-time) and our brand manager dodged an entire month of emails trying to set up a phone call until we announced we were cancelling. She relented and spoke to us so we gave them one more month, but nothing changed so we cancelled. But worse was yet to come—their tech department set up a separate Facebook page and linked our Instagram feed to it so they could post for us and now although we are no longer clients, they continue to damage our business because we can neither link our Instagram feed to our business’ actual Facebook page nor promote posts because we are not administrators of the fake account they set up! Repeated emails to CEO Brian Schechter about the problem are being ignored. Not only are there better, cheaper and more responsive agencies than Selfmade but ones where you are not risking your business. Learn from our mistake and go elsewhere.
