Poor Service - Seatons Solicitors

Used seatons purely because my buyer was and I thought it would expedite things but that was my 1st mistake. They had a fancy app to upload docs but in reality it was a bit of a pain. Not once did they call me to reassure me or update me etc. If I email or call they respond, that's it. Every time they have an excuse rather than take ownership or TALK to the customer to re assure them. Very poor service.

Update: Perhaps you should properly review your emails/conversations as there were clear instances when speaking to your advisors, where I had expressed dissatisfaction. I was told it would be escalated and nothing happened in the end.You couldn't even tell my why the buyer was delaying the completion date (even though you were acting on their behalf)I found this through my estate agent who seemed to be more in touch with the buyer!!

Dear Sashi,

We have noted your poor review you have given - we are very sorry that this is your opinion of our firm. We take all reviews seriously. Having looked into the matter you instructed us on, it appears that on your file we responded to all your queries/calls and were efficient in how we dealt with your case. The matter took 3 months to complete - we can see that almost a month of this time was taken up because your buyer caused us delays. We always provide timescales to clients within our initial paperwork and the time taken to complete your purchase was within the timescales given. Our on-line system is used to speed up the process of conveyancing but we do not insist on this and any client who has a preference to being sent documents by email or post is always accommodated - our staff are always willing to assist and support clients who may find the on-line system difficult to use but we are constantly monitoring and updating this. On speaking to the conveyancer who dealt with your matter, at no time during your transaction did you raise any concerns or issues in relation to the service you received and I note that they have already indicated to you that they are more than willing to discuss any issues you had with our service.

Used these approx 10 years ago for sale…

Used these approx 10 years ago for sale and purchase. They took approx 6 weeks longer than they should have with no apology. They had to cancel my buyers fee but did not share this info with me. I let it go as just happy once it completed. Just asked them for quote to verify my identity(basically sign the back of a passport photo and sign off a form) Land registry advised it should only cost £30 at most. SEATONS WANT £225. Never again.

Efficient, Professional and would highly recommend

Jodie Douglas was the epitome of excellence throughout my entire experience with Seatons in both the selling and purchasing of our new home. From quotation through to completion, Jodie went above and beyond to ensure that I was kept updated at every stage, and I have no doubt that her incredible efficiency helped us secure our earlier completion. I would not hesitate to recommend Jodie and Seatons Solicitors and they will now always be my first choice for any legal help in the future. Thank you Jodie for everything.

Sale of flat

The buyer of my flat unfortunately used Seatons solicitors. The sale was chain free and a very simple transaction. The flat was sold beginning of April 2022 and as of 10 Aug 2022 we have still not exchanged. This is all due to Seatons who have been incredibly slow. An example of this is the maintenance pack was sent to them and they still hadnt looked at it a month later. The estate agent who has been chasing them was told not to ring them. They are a totally unprofessioonal outfit and I could never use them or recommend their services

Dear Katherine

Thank you for your review - we take all reviews seriously. Clearly, you are not a client of ours and your comments are made without having first-hand knowledge or discussion with any of our conveyancing staff. With no further information given to us, you have made it impossible for us to comment specifically and therefore can only be seen as a little one-sided. What we can say is that a flat purchase would have been a leasehold contract - despite there being no chain. Conveyancing transactions rely on all parties carrying out due diligence to ensure we cover everything in relation to our clients purchase. As a firm we would prefer to take a little longer in a transaction, ensuring we have covered all aspects of a purchase and it would appear that our client was satisfied with the service we provided as we have received no complaints regarding any flat purchase to date.

Very Helpful

Rang Seatons about a LPA query we had and one of their Power Of Attorney Specialists rang me back within the day. He was more than happy to answer my question without charge as it was a straightforward issue. Had we needed a follow up meeting, the fees quoted were more than reasonable.

Always respond quickly and efficiently

I have used Seatons twice now for a purchase and most recently a sale and purchase. Helen and Natasha are empathetic and efficient. Had no problem getting answers from them by phone or email, always replied within hours. Fully trusted them with the process and was always kept updated. Would recommend to anyone buying and selling

This was supposed to be simple

This was supposed to be simple. i tripped on a paving sticking up over an inch. i broke a bone in my foot and was off work for 6 weeks. It was with Seatons for a year. I had sent pictures of the dodgy paving and various other dangerous pavings that are still dangerous and untouched even today over a year later. They denied liability and Seatons rolled over saying the council can prove they have a good maintenance system and therefore not responsible for my broken foot. The solicitor even told me not to expect bowling green quality pavings... How insulting.

The conveyancing team were brilliant…

The conveyancing team were brilliant during the Covid lockdown period and still managed to keep me abreast of everything that was going on at all times. Will definitely use Seatons again when the need arises.

Avoid at all costs

If you are looking at anything to do with the purchase or sale of a property and a lease is involved avoid at all costs. I went to sell my apartment only to find that Seatons hand not registered the property and only provided me with a draft lease, I lost two buyers and nine months of my life. Many other issues accumulated in to more time lost and thousands of pounds in costs.

The initial proceedings were very slow…

The initial proceedings were very slow and there seemed to be a huge amount of miscommunication between the solicitors and the builders of my home. I had to send the same documentation through several times after the legal assistants said they hadn't received them.
It took me almost 2 months to receive my contract pack after putting down my initial deposit when it should have taken a maximum of 28 days. Now, I appreciate that this could have been the fault of the builders' solicitors too but I had to do a vast amount of the chasing up and waste a lot of my time in order for the process to progress.
However, I must say that Carol O'Leary - the solicitor dealing with my case - was extremely helpful, providing prompt and detailed replies once I had her direct email address. The process was a lot easier from this point on, it would just be helpful if the legal assistants had her level of professionalism and integrity.
