Stay Away From Seagate

I will never purchase any seagate products ever again, and you shouldn't either. I purchased an external hard drive last December. Everything seemed fine at first, but month by month the drive started to process my files very slowly and eventually it stopped working. My warranty was still active so I shipped it to them to recover my data. Not only did they took more than the promised 30 days to fix the problem, but they failed to do their job and costed me years of personal data that I'll never get back. I had to contact customer support several times to find out why it was taking so long to update me on the recovery process. Stay away from this company.

Seagate Bad HDDs

I have been using Seagate hardisk internal and it's size was 2TB. it worked for two years and now it's not working. I even took to a professional but it's dead. I even have a Western Digital hard disk which is working fine by me. But seas gate Hard disks are the worst. Don't ever buy Seagate hard disks.

DISGUSTING

someone should fine and investigate this company. They don't know what the they are doing. They discontinued customer service and you have to chat online, but the guy online takes forever to respond and even said he has 100's of texts to respond to. THEY ARE DISGUSTING. The government letting them get away with this shows how they are in bed together. I WILL NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCT AGAIN. We need a class action lawsuit.

If you value your data DO NOT get Seagate.

I have had 5 Seagate external hard drives, most of them "Backup Plus". All of them have failed for no reason. This last one is 2 years old, 4TB drive. Same computer as usual, same operating system, same cable. I plug it in every 6 months for backup, so I have used it 4 times. Never fell, never moved...nothing. Now the computer ( and all other computers ) say there is no disk and have to format it....losing everything AGAIN. Luckily I have another copy on another drive kownig how bad these Seagate are. The other 4 drives had a similar failure, except one that didn´t even show up. Really ridiculous that a company working in backup, makes you lose so much information all the time and it´s so unreliable.

Very disappointed. Hard drive dead after 3 months.

4TB Hard drive failed after only a few months. No contact support that I have been able to speak to so far. If I finally manage to get a hold of costumer service I might think about changing my review but so far I am as disappointed in the customer service as I am with a hard drive that is dead after only 3-4 months. In a professional aspect, I wouldn't recommend these drives. I will now have to take it to a local store to try and recover the data, but will certainly now have to replace this particular drive as I cannot be sure that this drive will be trust worthy again. I hope that Seagate can regain my trust.

Outstanding Data Recovery and Customer Service

I recently had a fantastic experience with Seagate’s data recovery service. As a musician and content creator, my data is incredibly valuable, and the team at Seagate handled everything with professionalism and efficiency. They recovered all my data quickly and without any hassle, which was crucial, especially when working with clients.

In addition to recovering my data, I received a replacement for my One Touch 5TB HDD and another drive with my recovered data, a new One Touch 4TB HDD. It’s great to have two drives now, and the replacement drive still has about two years of warranty remaining. This service has strengthened my trust in Seagate products.

The team’s dedication and expertise have made me a loyal customer, and I highly recommend Seagate to anyone looking for reliable storage solutions. Thank you, Seagate, for your excellent service!

the plug at the hard drive is so flimsy…

the plug at the hard drive is so flimsy that the slightest bump and it comes out, meaning one has to start the whole backup process over again.
Ideally i could do my back ups when i go out, but unfortunately as soon as the laptop goes to sleep the backup stops as well, so when I get home I have to wait another half hour for the backup to finish.

"2 year rescue service" is a scam

"2 year rescue service" is a scam. I had my Seagate harddrive for 1.5 years until it experienced a problem. I sent it for repairs and they just returned it saying it was no longer covered by the warranty. Didn't try to get in contact with me or resolve the issue or anything.

Fortunately, Amazon confirmed that the item was still within warranty and gave me a refund. But I'm very disappointed in Seagate and I won't be buying one of their products again.

The hard drive creator and killer

I had a seagate 2TB portable hard drive, and of course it broke a few months after the warranty ran out. I would like the record to state, that I was a big Seagate supporter before this. I had only bought Seagate drives and recommended them to anyone who asked. However when I asked for customer support they gave me a data recovery software that then damaged my hard drive further and now sustains internal physical damage due to the program damaging the disks by putting it into overdrive. It was almost as if they wanted the killing blow to finish of the witness (aka the hard drive that holds the secret to there shoddy work). Thanks, but no thanks Seagate. Goodbye forever.

If I could leave 0 I would

If I could leave 0 I would.
Customer service involves wasting time providing them with details for them & no result despite product being under warranty. Now having to pay 1750 to recover from a third party.

Awful Customer Service. LITERALLY ILLEGAL

My 2tb External hard drive has begun to fail and disconnect constantly so I contacted Seagate for a replacement. They told me I would have to PAY FOR SHIPPING THEM THEIR FAULTY HARD DRIVE. I also have to pay for customs clearance and the service of "data recovery" on my faulty Hard Drive. Under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act of 1994, a retailer must provide a replacement or full refund for a faulty product, it is literally illegal for them to charge me for the replacement and shipping of my faulty hard drive. The Government needs to sue them.

Terrible service. Terrible quality. Avoid.

I purchased a Seagate product from Curry's as a place to store videos and photos for a project - thinking Seagate was a decent brand. Less than a year of owning the device, it stopped responding entirely. I went to a few local tech shops for some advice, with all saying the data is likely to be recoverable, but it will require a clean room/lab.

I checked and my device was under warranty so, after getting in touch with Seagate, I sent it Seagate's lab in the Netherlands. Then after 5 weeks, I was told that all my photos and videos were not recoverable. I was informed I would be contacted to explain why and sent a new device - neither of which happened.

I've since been in touch twice after months of no contact asking for further justification as to why the product was faulty, why my data wasn't recoverable and why I haven't received a replacement. I still have had no response.

Terrible service. Terrible quality. Avoid.

Made an order

Made an order, order cancelled for no reason, ok, so I order again a couple days later, same thing and I didn’t realize till then that they still had my money on hood, I have about 600 dollars on hold, won’t even get the item I wanted and can’t order for several more days, and the customer support was useless and just repeated the same stuff after almost an hour. Never have I ever had such a bad experience.

Problems since November ‘23 and still ongoing

I came here to write a review in the hopes something would maybe get done here finally but wow after reading what’s already on here it just looks like this company does not care as seeing so many unanswered reviews with major issues attached.

I purchased an 8TB Xbox Seagate Gaming Hub and have had no end of issues since purchase.

I’ve been through 3 different units, each one sent back due to issues and Seagate supports solution is to ‘just keep replacing’ which clearly isn’t working.

I eventually got fed up of the back and forth and have been trying to pursue a refund ever since only to be denied multiple times.

The current suggestion was to try a completely different drive entirely where i was told as a gesture i could get a 10TB (additional 2TB for all the issues experienced). As a person who knows a bit about hardware / software and the like i requested a link to the newly suggested drive before i made my decision. Long story short, the drive they were trying to offer me (regardless of size as bigger isn’t always better) was massively inferior to the one originally purchased.

It’s like one big joke to them and they just try to back you down into a corner of submission and get you to accept what they lead you to believe is a ‘better offer’ when in fact it’s not! That being said i’d be surprised if they even knew that themselves because when you start to talk about product specs they have no idea so it’s no wonder an inferior product was offered as the support guys have no knowledge of the products they’re supporting!

I’ve even been to trading standards who advised me to write a letter and send it to them recorded / signed for. I’ve asked the support manager that i’m speaking yo on about 5 different occasions now to provide me with the registered address i can send this (aware i can get this from company house or the like but would rather get it from the horses mouth) but each time i’m just casually and conveniently ignored and the support manager tries to push new solutions down my throat without actually addressing my last contact.

Have also had numerous phone calls with said manager that always end up being a waste of time as nothing ever changes.

Overall, if you’re thinking about buying any storage solutions from this company then my advice is to steer well clear. Nothing but product issues, less than poor after care / support and just such a sap on your own time which is so unnecessary.

Seagate if you’re reading this which i so hope you are, my support case ref is 12451854. Feel free to take a look and let me know why you think an open case since November ‘23 with no current solution in sight is acceptable.

Great experience with customer service to help purchasing correct product.

Had inadvertently purchased an external hard drive for our X-Box when actually needed the expansion card. The difference being that X-Box only allows you to play games directly from expansion cards and not an external hard drive. Anyways with that being said their customer service walked me through this and was able to return the not needed hard drive and replaced with correct expansion card.

do NOT buy

I was told Seagate was a good company, until I had an issue and realized I should have done research before.

Seagate 4TB Hard drive failed nearly 5 months in.
As deadlines were due there was no time to go through Seagate warranty, spend $700 to get my files with a 2 day turn around time. The hard drive specialist said its associated with the drive physically failing, but sometimes it can just be a data corruption issue.

I contacted Seagate for any compensation as this was not a user error and the device had hardly been used.

Seagate was unable to help me in any way, I asked to speak to someone in person but they said they only had the live chat. I am disappointed in this whole experience.

I wouldnt invest in their products if you're not willing to lose all your data.
