Wont buy again. Company with strong marketing and average products

In want sentence: I won't buy again from Savernake and won't recommend it to a friend.
The knife itself is ok, but not great. I had to sharpen straight away because it did not come sharp compared to my other knives. I have never managed to get it sharp thought not as sharp as my Japanese knives. It is balanced handle heavy. The handle, due to the resin used, is extremely slippery, especially if you get oil or grease on your hand or handle it becomes dangerously slippery. It's 300 pounds a knife. For that price, one would expect a quality product with good after-sales service. In my case, after-sales service was beyond standard. After a couple of months since the order, I simply asked about the approximate delivery date. Emails have been ignored. At some point I was told that they are 'busy" due to a high number of orders. It left a bad feeling about marketing and taking money as being priority over customer and service or product. I can get a better knife from the retailers without waiting at this price, and customer service will be way better than Severnake. I am somewhat surprised they have so many 5-star reviews, but I have never received a request to review a product, and that would explain how positive reviews are manipulated via the selection of customers. Overall sadl,y I can't rate it more than 2 stars.

Top knives top device

I am a chef and wanted a new set of knives for a business I am opening. I ordered the set of six knives with a honing steel which arrived in good time. Upon opening them I realised that I had ordered the wrong handles I thought that I would not be able to get a replacement as I had my name engraved on them. But after contacting them they agreed to change the handles for a small cost. Again I received the knives quickly and I am absolutely overjoyed with them. They are aesthetically very pleasing, comfortable to use, very well balanced and very sharp. These knives are top drawer and service has been great thank you so much.

Very pleased with our compact chef's…

Very pleased with our compact chef's knife, it feels super top quality. We even had a tour of their factory and process as we're fairly local, which was fascinating both for me and my teenage boys. Our guide was very enthusiastic and it feels great to buy a quality product made in the UK.

Honest review

Since I didn't find many reviews of Savernake knives online, I thought it might be helpful for others to hear an opinion from someone with direct experience. Having worked as a professional chef for many years, I know exactly what I like when it comes to kitchen knives. Although I no longer work professionally in kitchens, I still greatly enjoy cooking for myself, my family, and friends. My collection of knives is extensive, primarily consisting of high-quality Japanese blades. This review is entirely independent—I simply felt the need to share my experience with what I consider to be excellent purchases (at least up to this point).
Firstly, I want to highlight the packaging—it immediately conveys a premium feel. Opening the elegant cylinder to reveal the knife inside was genuinely a delightful experience. Additionally, the customer service at Savernake Knives has been outstanding. They personally guided me through the selection process, offering helpful suggestions and dedicating time over the phone to address all my questions. From order to delivery, the process took about a week, which I found quite efficient.
My first purchase was the Mini Cleaver from the BBQ Series. This knife immediately impressed me with its robust build and beautiful design. It effortlessly handles tougher tasks, such as cutting through bones. Despite its compact size, the Mini Cleaver maintains excellent sharpness and feels strong and balanced in the hand, making it very enjoyable to use regularly in the kitchen.
Pros:
• Beautiful design
• Sturdy construction, feels strong
• Effortlessly handles bones
• Retains sharpness for a considerable period
• Sharpening with a 70/30 angle proved to be more efficient and resulted in a sharper edge
Cons:
• Not the easiest knife to sharpen
• Could benefit from being slightly larger—perhaps an additional couple of centimetres in length and 1 cm in height would improve usability further
My second knife from Savernake is the Fish Daddy, customised with a personalised handle and engraving. I find it somewhat superior in terms of quality—it is clearly designed with precision and delivers outstanding results. This knife is remarkable for seafood preparation, especially filleting and deboning, thanks to its incredibly sharp edge right out of the box.
Pros:
• Comfortable grip
• Exceptionally sharp right from delivery(on this I’ll come back on my last considerations)
• Makes filleting and deboning extremely easy
• Versatile enough for slicing steaks due to its semi-rigid build
Cons:
• No significant cons. Being a highly specialised knife, it performs its intended task incredibly well.
Both knives arrived very sharp, but clearly machine-sharpened. In both cases, I needed to refine the edges on my sharpening stones—starting with a 1000-grit stone, followed by a 3000-grit stone, and for the Fish Daddy, I went up to a 6000-grit stone. You can easily feel the residual traces from the initial machine sharpening under your fingers.
Price/Quality: Both knives are priced at £169 each and are part of Savernake's non-custom series. In this price range, both knives are worth the hype. The customisable experience, overall quality, packaging, and overall feel justify the investment. Comparing with other knives, for instance, Global knives in the same price bracket, I find Savernake clearly superior. On the other hand, compared to premium Japanese knives such as Yoshikane, Fujiwara, or Masamoto, the comparison isn't entirely fair given the difference in price points and aim. However, I do feel more confident using these Savernake knives regularly as workhorses rather than my more delicate Japanese premium blades.
Suggestions for Savernake: What I'd love to see from Savernake is an upgraded version of the Mini Cleaver—slightly longer and higher, with a 70/30 sharpening angle using sharpening stones, and a blade capable of handling a 6000-grit stone. This would significantly pique my interest. Regarding the Fish Daddy, I believe it should become a flagship series due to its exceptional balance and ease of filleting. Its semi-rigid build places it comfortably between Western and Japanese filleting knives, essentially making it a Sujihiki in a Western filleting knife form. I'd love to explore more knives from Savernake, although the price point of the custom series makes me cautious since I don't have the opportunity to test them beforehand.
Overall, Savernake Knives deliver excellent quality, durability, and personalisation options. These knives aren't just tools; they're truly a pleasure to use and a beautiful addition to any kitchen.

Absolutely Superb product and service experience

Outstanding set of knives made to order! Ordered a negative ghost rider set and they changed the handle colour to one of my choice so they all matched along with a matching honing steel - they are all beautiful and quite frankly a work of art! Also ordered a chopping board set (which included the reversible carving board) which again have been beautifully made and are excellent! Laurie and the team made the process easy and they are amongst the most helpful bunch I have had the good fortune to come across in any industry I have encountered. There is absolute pride in everything they do and this truly comes through in both experience as a customer and an outstanding (and ridiculously sharp) product. Thank you all so much for everything ❤️

Superb quality

Bought a British Steel CL18 Chef's Knife and I am very happy with it. British steel from Sheffield, beautifully made, lifetime guarantee, can be serviced by Savernake when needed, good value for money considering the materials used and labour involved... what's not to like! I'm very pleased with this knife

This was a birthday present from my wife, who always had trouble buying for the man who has everything. Except that I didn't have a knife quite like this one, and so it filled a gap in my kitchen paraphernalia.
It arrived promptly, and is everything I had hoped for. From the first moment that I held it, it felt right. Nicely balanced and very sharp.

excellent from start to finish

A custom knife from Savernake knives has been on my wish list for many years. I finally treated myself and couldnt be happier, such great quality and service throughout. the only downside is my knife is so exquisite that I don't want to sully it by using it on cheap ingredients so my food shopping costs have now gone up.
