Same as all below - this is a conman

Same as all below - Ed "talks the talk" and £1k lost for me. He doesn't give a toss....order placed in Dec '23 I was strung along week after week he is always making excuses and then the day he said he was delivering, he didn't turn up and now will not answer emails/calls etc.

Obviously going to take him to court, he is a conman plain and simple.

SCAM

SCAM! Do not purchase. Happy to take nearly 1k deposit then feed you lie after lie. Do not believe a word Ed says. Strings you along was told 8 weeks. Now 37 weeks and nothing. Unfortunately I'm taking it to court now. No wonder the company went under.

Savage BBQ are Fraudsters!!!

Its hard to put into words how much I have been messed around by this so-called company, and how thoroughly let down by them I feel let alone how angry I am that they have taken over £4500 of my hard-earned money and - a whole year later - they have completely failed to fulfil my order.

I placed an order for a 1800mm Firecage, rotisserie, half/ half plancha grill, firebox, fire wall, fire cage cover, and 150mm storage unit on the 7th January 2023. At the time I was told I could expect delivery of my order in March 2023 and I paid the required 50% deposit immediately.

The end of March arrived and I had heard nothing from Savage BBQ Living so I emailed them asking when I could expect delivery of my order.

On 11th April I received an email from Rachel at Savage BBQ saying that - and I quote - "Good news, your order should be ready for delivery in the next couple of weeks. Can you please now make the remaining payment of £2279.40?" which I did immediately.

I asked when delivery would be made and Rachel explained that Ed would be in contact shortly to arrange it.

Another couple of weeks went by and I heard nothing so I emailed again asking when delivery would be made. Ed finally responded on 28th April saying "We are working on your order now.  I’ll get you a day as soon as possible. It won’t be long at all."

Then began a month long saga of me emailing and calling Ed to try and ensure that my Firecage would be delivered in time for a big family bbq I had planned on 3rd June. During this time Ed repeatedly promised to get me delivery dates and even confirmed delivery dates which he then couldn't honour. I was aggrieved to discover that my Firecage still wasn't ready nearly 2 months after I was told my order would soon be ready and I had made full payment for my order on this basis. It was now the start of June and I had originally been told my order would be delivered in March.

On June 9th a 1800mm Firecage, half plancha grill and rotisserie were finally delivered, but the rotisserie was missing the rotisserie forks that are essential for its use, and the grills that fit into the Firecage were not a flush fit so I had to wire them in myself to enable me to use the Firecage without risk of the grills falling down whilst I was cooking on them - very dangerous.

Ed had already explained that he couldn't deliver the firebox, fire cage cover or 1500mm outdoor kitchen storage unit and that these would follow in a week or two with replacement grills.

For the next 3 months it was more of the same; me asking when the rest of my order will be delivered and Ed / Savage BBQ fobbing me off.

In September after receiving no response for weeks I had reason to drive across the country for a meeting and so I visited the address for Savage BBQ in Sutton-In-Ashfield that appears on their website only to discover that this is actually the address of their accountants.

I went in and explained my situation to them and asked them to contact Ed and tell him to contact me as a matter of urgency as I was in the area and would pick up any remaining parts of my order that he had ready but required a full refund on anything that was outstanding as my patience had run out.

Within half an hour Ed was calling me back saying he had some of my items but not all of them - they still hadn't made the outdoor kitchen unit 9 months after I ordered it - and if I could drive to his lock-up he could give me what he had.

At this point he gave me a fire box that was missing its thermometer, 2 poorly welded replacement grills, and the fire cage cover - made by a third party.

I requested an immediate refund for the outdoor kitchen of £1140 which is what I had paid for it. Ed said he would get the refund organised straight away, and I drove home mightily unimpressed but pleased to know that my refund would be on its way shortly and I could put this whole thing behind me.

Two weeks later and no refund had materialised despite me emailing and messaging 3 times, and then suddenly I got an email from Ed saying they were waiting to receive some payments before they could transfer my money back to me.

This made me absolutely furious. It seems that Ed and Rachel at Savage BBQ Living had not only taken my money and completely failed to fulfil my order for most of the year, but it turns out that they had mistaken me for a bank or payday loans company rather than a customer / human being.

I think they rushed to take my money with no intention of actually fulfilling my order on time / at all, and that my money has probably been used to help float a failing business.

I'm now at a point where I am taking them to court to get my money back.

You only have to look at all the terrible reviews that now exist to see that there is a pattern of taking peoples money with no intention of fulfilling their orders. Put simply; these people are FRAUDSTERS. Avoid at all costs!

Avoid. No BBQ & No Refund

Purchase for m here at your risk!

I own a commercial BBQ business & wanted to add a fire cage to my BBQ offering, I checked out various different suppliers & Savage BBQ hit all the right notes; so I called & spoke to Ed the owner who came across very knowledgeable, down to earth & honest, a real 'what you see is what you get' kinda guy..........so I placed an order for a mini pro fire cage at a cost of: £1050 & was told by Ed he was a bit busy but he'd get it turned around in 3 - 4 weeks for me (which I was happy with)

That was over 3 month's ago!........I've subsequently heard every excuse imaginable from Ed as to why I haven't received my fire cage, everything form waiting for fire bricks to no welders available even though previously being told it was made, the list goes on; I'd like to point out at this point that Ed never contacted me, it was always me contacting him

Two weeks ago (3 month's to the day) I had enough & cancelled my order & asked for a refund which was meet with an attitude & no apology (like I'd done something wrong), begrudgingly a refund was agreed & a promise that it would be processed asap was given, well guess what, it's nearly 3 weeks & still no refund & now Ed has stopped answering his phone

Please please do yourself a favour & avoid this business at all costs; pretty websites & attractive social media aside this business is a shambles & will rip you off!

Do not order from these guys

Do not order from these guys. Taken nearly a year to receive a product, which still hasn’t arrived. Shocking customer service, I’ve never known a business so poorly run.

Take your money and get no product, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. From speaking to them and using their products at an event, we decided to place an order, this was in June 2023. We are still waiting. This company is nothing but a guy who takes people's money and gives no end product. From lack of materials, short staffed, no money, haven't had time to manufacture, I've heard all the excuses possible and still nothing. Promised me a delivery date, checked in every week and still on course for said delivery date, get to the date and oh yes, another rubbish excuse not to give me what I've paid for.
I wouldn't recommend this company at all, we have lost money, they won't give a refund due to lack of funds and then file to close their business while actively promoting their other businesses on social media.
I feel like an absolute mug but hopefully these kind of people can be stopped and no one else spends their hard earned money on this shambles of a company.

Money i will never get back and a product i will never receive

I have delayed writing this for months, as i wanted to give this small business a chance, but i can't delay it any longer (it was 5months ago that i paid for the Antikristo bbq). There have been promises made and not one has been kept by this company and my only final option now is going to Trading Standards and getting legal advice. I am now sure that this company will not deliver the Antikristo or reimburse my money. If you are a company using their products or an organisation that partners with Savage BBQ I am afraid you are in partnership with a company that scams hard working people out of their money. I will remove this review if i am reimbursed, and I will update this post with the guidance i receive from Trading Standards.

Update 31/01/24 - Still no reimbursement or product received. They promised to reimburse half in December... Got nothing... Promised to reimburse full amount start of January stating 'We are looking at getting you payment this week'... Got nothing... They don't reply to emails asking for updates (just veiled promises and lies when they do), have given my number for them to call and they don't. They really don't care that they have taken (robbed) people of their hard earned money (yet they still have the time to post on Facebook!!!).

Shocking service - Savage BBQ Living

I ordered the Firecage Pro Plus in August 2022 for which I paid £1860. This included additional side panels which were quoted for even though they are pictured as included on the Website, i.e. not as described or shown! After a somewhat lengthy wait, I received the product around mid-December 2022. I called to confirm that it had been received but also that it didn't include these side panels on the base unit, nor did it include the right-hand side panel on the top unit. In addition to this, I mentioned that one of the bricks on the base had been damaged in transit. An additional rotisserie unit was also not received but that was later received.

It is now December 2023, 1 year since receipt of the incomplete product and during this time I have tried countless times to get this resolved but to no avail! I have been lied to repeatedly even after sending an official Letter of Complaint and making contact with my Bank. If I do manage to make contact by email or phone, there is always a reason for the delay and the normal ‘waffle’ but nothing ever happens. They seem far too busy updating Instagram etc. than taking care of paying Customers!

It is shocking how Companies can get away with such poor service! I paid for a product that I never received and probably will never receive. Under no circumstances would I recommend that anyone use Savage BBQ Living. There may well have been some positive reviews but it’s simply not worth taking the risk based on my experience. #ripoffbritain

Ordered a fire table and cage 1200…

Ordered a fire table and cage 1200 earlier in the year, while things took a little longer our bespoke bbq and table arrived, all in great shape, service with a smile and some free fuel by way of an apology. Great all round

Have not received our order

Having visited a local food show in July we were exited to order the Antikristo BBQ. Well we are now in November and after constant requests, promise of delivery date that came and went, no actual verbal contact has been made, just excuses by email or text. Quite frankly it's caused a lot of stress and anxiety. I've been very patient with Ed but I am now repeatedly asking for a refund for the BBQ plus the extras (pot and firewood) which have also not been sent, the money was taken in July! I wish I had seen the reviews prior to ordering as would not have ordered. This company should not be trading or allowed to attend the food festivals which they posted all over social media during the summer promoting their products. I will also be reporting to the Trading Standards and will now have to go through the bank process. It saddens me to have to write a review like this and I hope this will go someway to deter people from having to go through the same process.

I have explained we have had some difficulty getting stuff made. I am very sorry for this. We are producing and getting our orders out as fast as possible.

Edited Review - No response to our court claim

I wrote a review several weeks ago, however I took it down in the interest of fairness as Ed contacted my husband to tell him they were refunding our money…. which never materialised.
Very long story short, after waiting since July for a kitchen table, chasing constantly and being fed all sorts of excuses we asked for a refund.
In the end we had to resort to reporting it to our bank as fraud which was a last resort (we gave them prior warning) but unavoidable given the constant promises of delivery and finally a more honest admittance that they couldn’t produce our order at this time. Where do you go with that? Wait indefinitely for it even though we paid upfront?

Our bank claim is ongoing.

I understand companies struggle, but taking peoples money - and continuing to do so - even though it is clear they are in a mess is inexcusable. Stopping further transactions from the website would be the responsible thing to do.

Update Dec 2023

We’ve raised a court claim and not surprisingly they didn’t bother to respond within the given timeframe. We are now waiting on a judgement to be issued.

Our bank investigation concluded well over 6 weeks ago so to use the ‘frozen’ account story is yet another excuse.

It astounds me how little integrity they show given us (as the customers) are the ones who have been wronged.

To have just given away money for nothing is a bitter pill to swallow, I’d rather have given £900 to our local animal charity or hospice.

Stay well away from them.

We never discussed going to court when we finally spoke to you after chasing for many months. We warned you we would open a claim with the bank - which we did.
In fact to be clear you stated - ‘if I go bust you will get nothing’

Throughout the month the court case was opened you have many options - including making a payment offer or paying in full. This would have settled it and the court case would have been closed. Read the documents in future. I’m well versed on them.

We gave you every opportunity to refund our money before taking any action. As my long message threads submitted to the court show.
To infer we are deliberately trying to damage you is fascicle.
It seems there are quite a few others in the same predicament as us.

Please stop embarrassing yourself by replying in this ‘victim’ manner (you also did it to the other lady on here recently).

I won’t be responding anymore on this forum - you have our contact details with regards to refunding our money.

And just as an FYI - you can also settle the claim before the judgment paperwork is issued.

David was aware that if you did the court claim then I can’t refund anything until it’s done. I have explained the situation on several occasions.
We aren’t actively promoting or selling cages due the situation so your claims we are false. You are just going out your way to be unreasonable and nasty as you have from the start. I tried to reason with Dave as you suggested but he was having non it. Again just nasty threads.
Unfortunately we have had financial difficulties and I’m doing my best to try and work it out. But I’m not going waste time when you have no interest in being reasonable or listening to what I’m saying.

We have tried to refund you through our business account but due to you reporting us for fraud they have frozen the money while they investigate. I have chased them several times however they have said it has to go through some checks. They haven’t asked us for any information . Like you say the bank claim is ongoing. However we have tried to get it settled so we haven’t not done anything about it
If we hear anything else I’ll let you know. But this delay in getting the refund is out of our hands for now

Just terrible customer service.

This makes me so sad having to write this review. I was so excited about ordering my savage bbq and having spent over £2k on a bbq quite frankly you expect the nuts of all bbq’s. I really liked the fact that Eddie was so passionate and clearly loves what he does. I paid 50% back back in March and finally received the bbq on 3rd June. Minus quite a few bits!!! Eddie sent some of them out the following week. Great! Except it wasn’t great, I was and still am awaiting my firebox and with weekly chases I get the odd reply saying it will come next week. When spending this sort of money you expect a top service instead it was and is horrific. If you are considering buying a savage bbq I would strongly advise you look elsewhere. I wanted to support an artisan company but wish in this circumstance I hadn’t.
Regarding the quality, it’s good/ok but nothing special and with a quick look on the internet you will find as good if not better products.

6 months wait and still not what we ordered

We order the live wood table and bench set on the 19th September, it finally arrived on the 17th November after being told it would be with us at the end of October, my mother in law kindly came out to allow for the table to be stored in our garage due to not being able to pick a time or date that suited both, we realised the incorrect legs had been attached, we emailed and they said they were sorry and would replace the legs. on the 5th December the correct table legs were due to be delivered, however the correct style of legs were delivered but the incorrect colour, these had been removed and started to be replaced before my partner had noticed the incorrect colour, whilst taking off the old legs the wood on the table top was split, my partner explained they were the wrong colour and due to the split in the table top as well he said he would come back for a third time with the correct legs (black) and a new table top.
On the 11th January we had a new top arrive and it was a completely different shade of wood to our original order (which matched our bench and we loved) and the edge was more of a straight edge as opposed to a “live” edge, we expressed this and was told they had another order our way and would delivery another top to match the bench due to it looking like it had been stained to dark, we have since been in contract with them to try and arrange this, however have now stopped receiving any replies at all.

We have paid for a product which now doesn’t match and have had no communication from the company, it’s very disappointing and frustrating. Will not be recommending.

Great product, terrible customer service

The product is great! There’s no doubt. But it’s expensive and I had to wait about 4 months for it. Even though they said it would be 6 weeks. I actually tried to cancel it but suddenly it was ready. In fairness they throw in a rotisserie because of wait.
But I brought a skittle pan which never arrived. They also never sent me the thermometer that was missing from the fire box when the product arrived.
I have chased them for the missing items a couple of times but they don t reply. Because it was so expensive I wish it was complete.
I wonder if they guys would spend more time honouring the contracts rather than making Instagram videos.
Or just at least reply.
But like I said the bbq itself is great

Wonderful experience from start to finish!

Communication from Rachel at Savage was great - was kept up to date and dealt with any questions I had.

Was able to accommodate a slight customisation without any issue at all!

Finally the product itself is perfect! Very robust and is an absolutely beautiful piece of furniture.

Can't recommend Savage enough!
